My boyfriend and I just finished this game, and holy crap it was amazing! Literally you could go from being super excited to nearly throwing the controller across the room in 10 seconds. Was so awesome though, the amount of creativity and just mind boggling puzzles was insane! And now I'm watching you struggle with it, because it's funny to see the exact same reactions to when we were playing haha Good job you figured some stuff real fast ! :)
"This apple is throwing me off, it's probably not even relevant... but maybe the windmill?" *Runs across the map* I've never wanted to grab my screen and shake it so hard before this. It's so great when it finally clicks though right?
You are wondering about how this plays for youtube. In my opinion, this is great to watch after having completed the game. It's great to relive these moments of discovery.
oh man oh man, I actually caught this on live stream. And let me tell you. Everyone was losing their shit on the desert temple reflections puzzle. We think he sees it, then he loses it. such a hilarious 5 hours.
2:36:45 Those bigger dots are the starting point for literally _all_ other puzzles - I have no idea why you'd see it the opposite way for that particular part of the game. I gotta say though, that whole section made for some pretty good, albeit frustrating, entertainment. :)
It took me quite a while to truly comprehend (and a lot of frustration was had in the process), but now I do have to admit - this game is pure genius. It is an exalted ode to the scientific process all the way down to the chief point being NOT to solve the damn puzzles, but to figure out the rules according to which the game world works. Bravo, dear game designer, bravo! Now on to the exceedingly difficult task of watching Odd do only those parts, which I have completed myself ^^
7 years later I got an urge to watch someone have those beautiful revelations in this game and this is my first time watching any of his content. So far this has been exactly what I came for. He starts with great deductions and a lot of very insightful observations. Quickly devolves into frustration and looking right at a solution tons of times without 'seeing' it, seeing the solution and then convincing himself it wasn't actually the solution. The discovery that literally took his breath away was perfect. Also, as a long time Northernlion viewer, his inability to manipulate shapes in his mind when solving the polyomino puzzles makes me feel right at home...
It's been over 5 years, and I'm just watching your Witness gameplay now. But I want to answer your question about "How is this content for TH-cam?". Personally I have found it difficult to find playthroughs of this game that the streamer doesn't annoy the heck out of me, mostly because they are so negative about the gameplay. So far I have really enjoyed the first 2 hours of this video. You are upbeat and very entertaining. I've already beat Witness myself, but I'm enjoying re-living it watching you. Thank you.
You know, I started watching this channel for XCOM, but man I am glad that this channel is some much more then that. Loved your Firewatch series and I'm loving this The Witness marathon. I don't care that it's 5 hours, it's so relaxing to sit and watch and I even test myself once I know the way the puzzle works to see if I can solve it before you can. Please keep making these awesome videos.
Love your videos. I struggle because I often watch them to check a game and see if I want to play, and then watch the entire thing and ruin the story for myself before I have time.
Wow. Lost count of how many times my mind has been blown. I'd heard people say this game is terrible, so glad I decided to try your video anyway because this is amazing. Hope to see more of it.
Ok... 40 mins in and this is definitely one of the best blind play throughs of this game. So far you have picked up every hint for every puzzle and done it so well. Like realising the apple on the branch on the table is the one that was cut off the tree. Ok... I’m in for the long haul.
I love your questions of “why have I done those puzzles?” Each time you ask it you don’t realise that actually you just learned something. Like the fact that the puzzles and the environment can be related to each other. 😃
Ok... something I appreciate with your play through that was not in other peoples is the fact that you don’t dwell on the puzzles that are obviously not known and not a tutorial.
“Oh... I think it might be something to do with the................” Ah cool he’s seen the long grass. “Shadows” 🤦🏻♂️ 🤣 Still enjoying the stream though.
When he kep saying "GOT IT GOT IT GOT IT GOT IT" it reminded me about a game where you can choose what to say like CS "Roger that roger that roger that" lol
Man, being in the stream and watching you try and figure out the reflection puzzles at the beginning of the desert ruins was probably the most frustrating, yet entertaining thing I've ever watched. It was absolutely great!
Those Tetris puzzles are a great way of determining if you're a good spatial thinker. Between struggling on those puzzles and having issues with flipping the hexagon puzzle paths in his mind, I'd say spatial thinking isn't Chris's forte. (Not saying there's anything wrong with that though. People's brains just work differently and I find that interesting.) I think it's important for people to remember that though if they're getting frustrated watching him try to solve these puzzles. That's likely the reason a puzzle might seem easy to them, but not easy for him. A tip which might help for solving the Tetris puzzles is to not worry about the line at all to start. Just try to think of how to move the shapes around so that they cover all the symbols. (Remember, you can move every shape.) Then, once you have an overall shape that works, then worry about how to trace it. I've seen some people worry about the line from the start and it just makes the whole thing even more confusing. Also, to help with visualizing, try actually making physical shapes you can move around, either in Photoshop or with something like graph paper. If you can't visualize them in your head, do it for real instead. Hell, I'm great with spatial reasoning and I still had to work things out on paper from time to time.
+DasVERMiT Yeah, my spatial reasoning is on par with Chris'. I had to put in some major mental work to get some of those puzzles. I watched some of Day9's playthrough and was like 'wtf, how is he doing these so quickly?!". On the other hand, I picked up lots of the environmental stuff much more quickly than day9 did.
So I just got back from visiting my sick Aunt, 2 weeks in the mountains with no internet, so damn good to hear your voice again dude. Thanks so much for upping so many of your streams to youtube, (and a long ass stream to boot) I've been watching your videos and streams for so long that it genuinely felt like coming back to catch up with a friend, love you bro. Looking forward to catching up on the videos I missed while gone, hopefully I'll catch the next stream too.
Really enjoying watching you play this. I have long since beaten the game but it's fun to watch you have revelatory moments and find solutions to puzzles. Especially in the desert. There's some puzzles you nail that I had tons of trouble with, and others that get you stuck that I got right away. It's interesting how different people are better are certain kinds of puzzles than others. Thanks for the video!
I played a lot of the puzzles but I gave into temptation and triggered the end knowing I hadn't found or completed them all. I know I haven't seen the worst this game can throw at you but I can't imagine the amount of work that must have gone into actually devising all the puzzles.
I watched all of it (great way to spend your free day). It was fun to see you getting so close to the answers and then just get stuck... But was really enjoyable when you finally found them :) Thanks for uploading it to youtube!
Chose the longest video. Thought five hours was enough to see it through. Didn't realize that Mr. Odd is a unicorn butterfly made of snowflakes and watching him fly, melt, flop around and eventually fly again is the most magical way to watch a playthrough but five hours is far from adequate for the whimsical majesty.
I was so crying when you did the 2:29:00 Puzzle. It was way to painful to watch you struggle. I nearly just skipped or closed the video. I could not take it. This awesome though. Please upload more of these to TH-cam. It is fun to watch, even if your not that much part of the experience.
Watching you play this made me want to buy it. Seeing you struggle for several attempts while I figured it out drove me INSANE!! Either way it was a lot of fun watching this, made me laugh a lot! Love your videos, it's always fun to watch what you are doing in between while I am between classes.
it was such a promising start, so many mind blowing moments. witness is a perfect game for Odd, it was just bad luck that he had to venture to the tetris part waaay too early
great video, watched all 5 hours. only thing i can say is, you really need to explore more, the amount of times you walked right by doors and stairs that could bring you to new areas while trying to scout out a new area, then just turning around back the way you came. look behind everything :P
2:14:50 - "Where's the hint?" ... you looked straight at the hint a couple times, but apparently your eyes were looking somewhere else. The reflection (of the sun) on the board shows the pattern, like someone else before you left their greasy finger prints on the board. 😂 I know he never finished, and refused to go back to this game, but....oh well. . . . - omg he figured it out, but then shrugged it off after not following the path. 😭 holy crap -- FINALLY! GGs to you, now that I've got a few more grey hairs lolol
Oh, so that one stone dude on his knees was worshipping the sun and not the golden chalice. It was probably a clue to that puzzle in those ruins to look at the reflection of the sun, it will guide your way. This game is pretty clever.
It was actually a perspective thing. The statue seems to be reaching for the chalice but if you look from a different angle the shadow from the sun is the man holding the chalice. The game has a lot of things like that which play around with shadows and perspective.
2 hours in, and this is up there with Day9's as my favorite playthrough of this game so far. Great job! Looking forward to more. That said, splitting the stream up into smaller videos for TH-cam would be nice. Even if they're like an hour long each, it would still be less unwieldy than a big ol' 5 hour video.
Man great video Chris, that being said you really NEED to play Antichamber some time after this, you will love it and hate it the same way you do this puzzler!! :D
Shoooouting at my screen, but Odd he does not listen. Wonderfully frustrating, enjoyed every minute of this. I also learned a lot about what sorts of puzzles my brain is good at and which it sucks at. Thanks :)
In answer to your question at 1:51:00 ... there is no logical path :P Although, you did skip some stuff that you could have solved. But no doubt you will get back there later :) I know, I'm answering a video from months ago but thought I would :D
50:00
I was watching this a second time, and I just noticed that all 3 of those puzzles are exactly the same way solved, but they get more distorted.
My boyfriend and I just finished this game, and holy crap it was amazing! Literally you could go from being super excited to nearly throwing the controller across the room in 10 seconds.
Was so awesome though, the amount of creativity and just mind boggling puzzles was insane!
And now I'm watching you struggle with it, because it's funny to see the exact same reactions to when we were playing haha
Good job you figured some stuff real fast ! :)
You are smart couple. This thing is hard.
"This apple is throwing me off, it's probably not even relevant... but maybe the windmill?"
*Runs across the map*
I've never wanted to grab my screen and shake it so hard before this.
It's so great when it finally clicks though right?

such a hilarious 5 hours.
+rabbitything This was the closest Chris got to a ragequit since Dark Souls :D
+rabbitything That was difficult to watch :S
+rabbitything I finished this game last week, and honestly watching this is so funny. Best game I ever decided to play
He was talking about how the game might be better for stream, but im real glad I was able to use playback controls on that part
HOW DOES IT KEEP GETTING WORSE
2:36:45 Those bigger dots are the starting point for literally _all_ other puzzles - I have no idea why you'd see it the opposite way for that particular part of the game. I gotta say though, that whole section made for some pretty good, albeit frustrating, entertainment. :)

3:28:41 This is the entire point of this game. Jonathan Blow created this entire game just to create this moment for people. It's fucking beautiful.
7 years later I got an urge to watch someone have those beautiful revelations in this game and this is my first time watching any of his content. So far this has been exactly what I came for. God damn 3:09:13 so frustrating... you had it and then went... no...
Ok... 40 mins in and this is definitely one of the best blind play throughs of this game.

Each time you ask it you don’t realise that actually you just learned something. Like the fact that the puzzles and the environment can be related to each other.
😃
56 mins in and you said it yourself. “I feel like I’m learning”.
Hehe 😉
Haha, yup 1:11:00 you did it again. The instant recognition of what’s going on with the blue and yellow. Haha!
Seriously, this is good. :-)
Ok... something I appreciate with your play through that was not in other peoples is the fact that you don’t dwell on the puzzles that are obviously not known and not a tutorial.

+Rcw99 2:23:50 nearly killed me :s Still, I'm sure watching me playing this would have been frustrating so I won't hold it against him ;)

5 hours!! is this heaven
+Pankake Man *Part One* is 5 hours xD
even better
I love watching people play this game for the first time.
I wish I could play this game for the first time again ...
Commence mind blowing 3:28:41
OH GOD WHEN HE WALKED PASSED THE-- Oh I'm gonna need to walk away for a minute, aren't I?
I played a lot of the puzzles but I gave into temptation and triggered the end knowing I hadn't found or completed them all. I know I haven't seen the worst this game can throw at you but I can't imagine the amount of work that must have gone into actually devising all the puzzles.
I admire your patience Chris :). I would eat my keyboard after half an hour of this!
I watched all of it (great way to spend your free day). It was fun to see you getting so close to the answers and then just get stuck... But was really enjoyable when you finally found them :)
Thanks for uploading it to youtube!
38:35 the apple is from the broken branch beside it
Iv spent a long time trying to work out some of these puzzles and you seem to figure them out easy.
You clearly have the knack for these kind of games
Wow... You just dropped the entire stream in here, instead of making 20 minutes parts? That´s classy Sir! My hat is off to you. O7
There's no other TH-camr I wanted to watch play this - can't wait to see. Definitely will be checking out the livestream at some point
I was so crying when you did the 2:29:00 Puzzle.
It was way to painful to watch you struggle. I nearly just skipped or closed the video. I could not take it.
This awesome though. Please upload more of these to TH-cam. It is fun to watch, even if your not that much part of the experience.

No worries!

Either way it was a lot of fun watching this, made me laugh a lot! Love your videos, it's always fun to watch what you are doing in between while I am between classes.
It's cool to see Chris play this game right as I'm working towards the "challenge"in the second playthrough, haven't beat it yet though
Quarantine led me here. Not that I’m ever too far away from your channel, though... this game is a nightmare.
We in the Netherlands just buy this game from Sony Playstation Store, we enjoy your marathon video very much, GREAT WORK !
5 hours.... god damn christopher pls y u do dis
2:28:46 lmao I was like he’s never gonna figure it out, so much running around back and forth just wasn’t paying close attention.
+ChristopherOdd When is the 2nd part going live? I'd like to be the part of the witness-solving community.
2:23:00 at this point I'm yelling out, the sun ⛅
Why don't I have popcorn right now? 5 hours of distraction from imminent assignments! Be still my heart.
That desert conundrum is one of the funniest things I've seen, like, all year.
Good job, man.
An excellent puzzle game. Like, incredible. Nice LP.
it was such a promising start, so many mind blowing moments.
witness is a perfect game for Odd, it was just bad luck that he had to venture to the tetris part waaay too early
Every time you figured out the puzzle I tried to like video again
29:09 How does his steam look like that?
Holy shit the desert temple part was so hilarious!!
Thanks for uploading this! :D
Please keep going!
p.s. The beginning of the hexagon puzzle part was the funniest thing ever.
Right @ about 6:56 I noticed 1 dark, or gray, cloud. Why? Don't get me wrong though, I did see all the beauty in this beautiful game.
he really should have quit the session at 4:27:00. His brain needed a pause and his chat are kinda terrible for just spoiling mechanics.
2:25:20 favourite long realization moment.
Robinson Lane ok
28:38 in my mind when he grabbed the notebook I was just like *_"I begins"_*
Chris we need more, so much more of this.
I love this game. I've been hoping that you would start playing this, since your my favorite person to watch play games.
Playing right now i love the game, my expectations were low and i got very suprise how very happy i was at the end!
great video, watched all 5 hours. only thing i can say is, you really need to explore more, the amount of times you walked right by doors and stairs that could bring you to new areas while trying to scout out a new area, then just turning around back the way you came. look behind everything :P
That entire clueless wandering at the sun temple is a sort of rage I've never experienced.
Never mind, the Tetris starters top it. I really want to understand how you think, but I can't.
I need part two!! Where is it?
sometimes you're thinking too complicated, but I love your voice. It's very soothing.
So glad I'm watching this not playing it. I sucked at Myst

- omg he figured it out, but then shrugged it off after not following the path. 😭 holy crap -- FINALLY! GGs to you, now that I've got a few more grey hairs lolol
Saw the whole stream this weekend, it was so much fun. Can't wait for the next one.
this man just said an albert einstein quote was "sayong a lot without saying a lot" lmaooo
You in that desert section made me want to melt my brain out of my nose
MUST.....WATCH.....IT......ALL......TONIGHT!
Really like this video, will be more of this game??
@39:59 Someone broke the branch to get the apple down - the apple that isn't there is the one that's sliced up
4:17:40 where you literally have to change JUST the very very start and you'll get it. ._.
Dio mio, this is the longest video you've made. You've broke your record, Odd.
1:05:00 I came to see that its not a bug when there is no yello line but its part of the challenge 😂
IT'S SO FRUSTRATING WHEN I KNOW THE ANSWER AND YOU DON'T AND I'm YELLING AT THE SCREEN..... :((((
_My voice was dying..._
Finally finished watching this whole video...was really raging at you near the end lol hopefully you post more.
53:00 "Close"
You were literally in a straight line from the exit. >.
Man, those geometric puzzles are just like Tetris! XD
3:50:20 The Shadows?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You're killing me dude!!!!!!
I have never sworn more watching a video until this
2 hours in, and this is up there with Day9's as my favorite playthrough of this game so far.
I only caught about an hour and a half of the stream, so thank you!
I love how the answer is right in front of you 2:23:53
Shoooouting at my screen, but Odd he does not listen. Wonderfully frustrating, enjoyed every minute of this. I also learned a lot about what sorts of puzzles my brain is good at and which it sucks at. Thanks :)
4:17:53 he's staring at the solution and devising this extremely overthougt plan and i feel like this would be funny if it weren't so frustrating.
Really enjoyed this one.. wasn't sure i would.. but having watched, i think id really like this game
ah yes the six senses...
Touch,
Sight,
Smell,
Taste,
Hearing, and
*_GRASS_*
Oh hey one of those words thing was Ashley Johnson
around 3:29:00.
1:39:10 i dont understand this one, can someone help me understand
You get the pattern from the box
This was great to watch.
This is great. Pretty disappointed to see it doesn't look like an entire playthrough is on youtube.
How blind he was on the light puzzle made me laugh
In answer to your question at 1:51:00 ... there is no logical path :P
Although, you did skip some stuff that you could have solved. But no doubt you will get back there later :)
I know, I'm answering a video from months ago but thought I would :D
loved it!!! hahaha the last puzzle of the video was crazy omg i look forward to part 2 ^^
So can the last two puzzles at 5:08:00 area be solved differently, because I am pretty sure that I solved them in a different manner.
that was so satisfying and so frustrating at the same time
tks for the roller-coaster ride :P
and that was 1 puzzle every 2 min and 17 sec.
Loved every second of it
More please! I'm loving this game!
Welcome to tetris hell
