The public does not know about Patek Philippe. I just asked 10 different non-watch people. They knew G-shock and Rolex although some didn’t know G-shock was Casio. I love that the central second hand can work for both chronograph and main seconds for running time but a sports watch needs more than the bare minimum 30m water resistance which is not recommended for swimming. You should be able to actually do water sports while wearing the greatest sports watch.

5960A is a great watch, fantastic value for money. It is the most complicated steel Patek which was on regular production. (5004A was limited production and 5950A was an application piece). However Patek does not consider 5960A as a sports watch. Patek categorise the 5960A as a classically elegant wrist watch.

Not designed for a bracelet. I think the unspoken consensus on "luxury sports watch" includes a bracelet. Think Nautilus series, Royal Oak series, Daytona, Sky-dweller, Yachtmaster, Explorer II, Submariner, Tag Heuer chronographs, Speedmasters, Seamasters, AquaTerra, Half the Breitling and Tudor range ....... All feature a bracelet.

    • @YT-jh8co

@@fredhal8681 There are exceptions. As long as the wristband is original, steel, leather, or rubber can be found on sports watches. One example is the PP Aquanaut. It comes with a rubber band. It's true most come with steel bracelet.

2:50 everyone's noticing the dirty back of the seconds hand. Does the chamfer on the minute hand where it ends not look uneven here? Or is it just the angle? Never seen this on a GS video.

I am for one of totally opposite opinion of the Grand Seiko effect that you mentioned.
If you have to explain to someone what you have and why it is better than others as the average Joe is not aware of it means you are infact having the ultimate item.
I would be more than happy if no-one on the street knew which brand my car is (example Koenigsegg) except for a few real enthusiasts and fans that will come and appreciate it.

  • @klarinette

This is indeed a wonderful watch, but somehow for the price tag, I would expect more! The dial could be better designed, the power reserve indicator digs into the logo, and the frame for the dates are too thick thus making the dates hard to read. Of course, I understand this is purely my own opinion and aesthetic is very subjective. If my suggestions means anything, I would love to see more lesser known/popular brands like Sinn in the lower budget end, to the mid/high end maker Lang & Heyne, both German brands. Thank you for reading!
