The paintwork on the dial makes my head hurt at this price range. Look at the 0 on the 10 and the red hand right after. Unacceptable for $50k, when you get get a Grand Seiko that's literally perfection for $5-$10k
The movement is absolutely beautiful. But.... freeze frame at 2:50 and look! I know it's very, very macro, but why don't I ever see this in a GS video?
You just have to accept the fact that GS is an outlier when it comes to finishing, and at the same time, realize that finishing is not the end all be all. However, this is one of the many reasons why GS is fantastic value
The public does not know about Patek Philippe. I just asked 10 different non-watch people. They knew G-shock and Rolex although some didn’t know G-shock was Casio. I love that the central second hand can work for both chronograph and main seconds for running time but a sports watch needs more than the bare minimum 30m water resistance which is not recommended for swimming. You should be able to actually do water sports while wearing the greatest sports watch.
I was about to kick off - then you provided the much needed caveat “we all know F.P Journe, Greuble Forsey and H.Moser and Cie...” - because as your biggest fans know - there’s no Centigraphe on this watch, the new H.Moser and Cie is probably the best Chronograph movement I’ve ever seen and GF have about 5 models that beat this lol.
Watch enthusiasts say you should look at these watches with a 10x loop to really appreciate the quality of the finishing. However, the number of imperfections as sighted by many below without the use of a loop is staggering. These so called high-end watches are not worth the money.
Certainly an outstanding timepiece from an outstanding Brand, but I believe there are several watches that could claim the same crown. Absolute choice in watchmaking doesn’t exist. It’s a matter of love, passion and sometimes simply guts.
"If you have to explain it, then you've lost before you've begun" at the beginning of a 12 minute video explaining why their store's latest aftermarket acquisition is totes more worth it than a Casioak.

5960A is a great watch, fantastic value for money. It is the most complicated steel Patek which was on regular production. (5004A was limited production and 5950A was an application piece). However Patek does not consider 5960A as a sports watch. Patek categorise the 5960A as a classically elegant wrist watch.

My main stocking point about the Patek Philippe 5960 is the lack of a primary seconds hand. Only a chronograph seconds hand. The rest of it is nicely done with the annual calendar, day-night indicator, 12-hour-and-minutes counter for the chronograph, relatively good legibility. As usual, the Watchfinder super macro work is excellent. It's good enough to show that Patek Philippe cuts corners too in terms of finishing. Take a look at 2m51s mark. It shows the blemishes on the underside of the red central chronograph seconds hand. Hard to unsee now.
I might be picky however the finish on the smaller red hand looks rough and the 0 of the 10 on the silver dial looks like engraver slipped or the paint is rough. Pause @ 10:11. At this cash I would want perfection.
Can someone please enlighten me: what makes this piece a "sports watch"? Annual calendar doesn't seem to be a usual sports watch complication. Also only 30m water resistance and the flimsy looking balance cock make this an impractical choice for many sports activities. (I agree, by the way, that the dial is just great!)
