    For some future gigabyte sponsored content I’d love to see a super high end, full gigabyte AORUS PC build. It would be awesome to see a multi video series. I’d love to see a regular PC review type video of it as well as a full “beginners guide 2022” style video where you build it and another 3rd video where you go through the installation of software that you’ve done before. A 4th video for the series I think could be really great would be going through and tuning/over locking the system for beginners. Of all the creators out there in the PC world, you’re the one I always turn to when I need a no nonsense, easy to understand guide on anything for my PC and you’ve helped me go from complete PC beginner last year to at least semi competent. Keep up the amazing work, you’re always incredibly appreciated

    Not sure if they did it this time around, but one thing I always wish for with the lower end boards is a dedicated on-board power button, and the Dr D digital readouts. The higher end boards are the ones that always seem to get those extra features when I feel like they should be standard on all boards. I'm not complaining at all because I realize those features add to the cost, but it's just something I've always wanted to see. I always see them, and am like, "Man I want one of those fancy power buttons, and pretty number thingies!" Lol.

    • @albal156
      @albal156 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      The Post codes are something I wish was on more lower end boards tbh or at least the read out LEDs if it adds too much to cost. Power buttons are rally only good for test benches or a first power up and initial POST outside the case it easily done with a screw driver and shorting the front panel connectors together. If something ever goes wrong (and it has, I had some issues when I powered on my PC for the first time and I had recent issues with the CMOS battery too which died and caused my PC to blue screen and forget the time and date) POSt code displays are definitely good to have.

      @@albal156 For sure. POST codes are way more important than an on-board pwr button. The pwr button would be just for ease of use for me. I kinda get a little wigged out using the screwdriver method because I feel like it's something you're not supposed to do even though it's safe, and been done millions of times.

    You touched on backplates and sort-of dismissed them. They are useful for out of case builds, like when you test your CPU and GPU on top of the motherboard box, as they add rigidity.

    Video idea: Put a 7600X in the X670E board and see if it is worth the extra money, depending on the usage the person wants.
    Also, does a MB backplate help transfer heat to the MB tray in the case?
    Let's find out.

    • @Otawakun
      @Otawakun ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the backplate does absorb some heat from the back of the VRMs via a thermal pad between but it doesn't do a good job of dissipating it. It's more of an structural purpose and protection of the smd components from the back from being damaged rather than absorbing heat.

    • @Jay_the_Caffeinator
      @Jay_the_Caffeinator ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Otawakun ah. So because of the size of the board it is used to keep the PCB layers from splitting. I got ya. Thank you for that. I wonder if you replace that back support plate or place thermal pads on it where it touches the MB tray in the case, then somehow actively cool it, would it affect VRM temperatures?

    Was really excited to get the Aorus Xtreme with the 7950x until I read the specs that you can only use 2 NVMe drives before it turns the GPU PCIe slot into an 8x. The main competition from Asus and MSI support at least 3-4 before affecting the GPU slot. It's such a poor design choice by Gigabyte to do this on a high end board.

      @@mra.cortez3553 Bandwidth wise you're right but when you slot a PCIe Gen 4 card, you'll effectively run at Gen 4 x8 (Gen 3 x16). The RTX 4090 is still a Gen 4 card and with DirectStorage games on the horizon, we might see a bigger impact of that limited bandwidth. Now if the 7900XT comes with PCIe 5 then this won't even be an issue.

    Nice boards. More and more they could double as toaster ovens, couldn't they? Something a case manufacturer might want to consider. Not just arrangements for the motherboard, external ports and such, but maybe a couple of slots to toast bagels and the like. Hey...it could work!? Talk about....extreme? 😏

    Yeah the Elite one would probably be my go-to though. I do wonder will RDN3 GPUs support PCIe 5.0 and if so would it even be a difference. Either way PCIe 5.0 offering more IO is good. Neat to see at least 1 for SSD.

    my first job with computers in 1981, was with a 64Kbyte dram, zilog 8bit cpu. floppies were one sided 120Kbyte floppies and hard disks were 5 megabyte boxes. it is 40 years, 40 years!! but wow things have changed.

    with the motherboard VRM and heatsinks so tall on the premium boards it seems like air cooling tower compatibility would be super impacted

      We need a test build to compare air and aio. Three test builds of course, which might help clarify the differences between the boards in practice.
      But, don't listen to me, I am waiting for B650. And Aorus will now be on the list. Well done, Gigabyte.

    Oil slick + RGB Combo on the extreme board. I'm waiting for the Disco Ball + RGB Combo at this point...although G.Skill kind of already did it with the royal series of Trident Z ;) DIMMS.

    Good to see PCIe 4.0 wasn't dropped. Makes me believe their upcoming PCIe 5.0 GPUs won't perform much worse using 4.0. Even in the case of RX 6000 only the lower end GPUs with less lanes performed slightly worse using 3.0.

    I'm probably in the small minority of users that is annoyed that they are removing the ability for 5.1 and 7.1 surround on their boards.
    I had the 370 Master and X570 Master but I will be getting something else when I upgrade to Zen 5 because I actually utilize the Audio I/O completely.

    • @pdamasco
      @pdamasco ปีที่แล้ว

      @@villenieminen3930 Yep, it just costs more. I have nice outboard gear that is all USB for headphones and monitor speakers but I have a 7.1 surround set from years back for gaming during the day.
      I checked in the manual for this board and apparently you can configure the front panel audio jacks to act as side, surround, and sub outputs but they are going to have a horrible noise floor if you do that.

    I have an Aorus Master X570--5800X and just game so I have no need to upgrade, but seeing the new shinies is fun. It's looking like building an AM5 or Intel gen13 PC will be substantially more money than AM4 or Intel gen12 (both DDR4). MAYBE the X3D will have so much uplift paired with a new GPU, many will be tempted to part with thousands.
