    The thing the germans used on their u-boats is not a helicopter, but rather an autogyro. Even though it looks like an helicopter it is not. It's actually more like an airplane, the main rotor acts like a wing when traveling foreward.

    We've kinda dropped the ball when it comes to transonic aviation and the Russians and Chinese have picked up that very fast ball. Can someone please explain to me why our military research programs routinely abandon useful research that America's potential enemies eagerly aquire and develop into weapon systems?
