Hi, I’m Patrick. I’m a freelance science writer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training and a master’s in clinical exercise physiology. I used to work in the clinical setting as a certified athletic trainer, physical therapy aide, and a certified strength and conditioning specialist. After working in the clinical setting, I went back to school and became a teacher. The goal of my content is to help normal people, not just pre-med students, learn about the human body. That might mean explaining a topic from an anatomy class or exploring a topic from medical history.

Is noting (alpha1 and beta1 as excitatory) and (alpha2 and beta2 as inhibitory) recognized? This is my first time hearing it. When it comes to fight or flight, beta2 seems to be the excitatory for brochioles.

Good question! There are beta-2's in the lungs that *do* inhibit muscle contraction, and that's what causes bronchodilation (similar to the vasodilation example I mentioned in the video). Remember, there's smooth muscle around a bunch of different tubes in your body, including bronchioles and arteries. During fight or flight, we want our bronchioles nice and wide to let more air in, so our adrenergic beta-2s help those muscles relax.
That's an awesome question, and I'm actually going to pin this comment because of the nuance. Nice one!

I taught epinephrine was released to the bloodstream by the kidney and the kidney acted as if it was a post ganglion. Please correct me on this.
