    hello great videos.!! quick question. what shirts do you use to slick screen.?? any recommendations??

  • @ucandoooit4216

    I am a newbie to screen printing and trying to get it all straight in my head. Are the inks different for CMYK "wet" printing? The wet ink from the prior passes surely would stick to the underside of the screen. How does this residue not effect the image? What software(s) are used for making the positives for burning to the screens. Is it a high mesh count on the screens?......SOOO many questions, the more I learn the bigger the list of questions I assemble!

    • @Ryonet
      @Ryonet  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there! CMYK inks are actually made differently so you can print them wet on wet. CMYK inks are a little thinner and more transparent so they can be printed wet on wet, and the colors will blend appropriately to create the range of colors. You can find our CMYK inks here, both plastisol and water based: www.screenprinting.com/search?keywords=cmyk%20ink
      We suggest using AccuRIP for making your film positives. It is a RIP format software that also allows you to run an all black ink system, giving you the best and most opaque film positives. You can find our AccuRIP and Epson 1430 package here: www.screenprinting.com/blackmax-1430-film-output-printer-and-separation-system
      If you're doing CMYK prints, then you'll definitely want a higher mesh count to make sure you can get your halftones printed properly.
      It's natural to have questions at the beginning. Even experts still have questions! If you ever have more questions or need any help, feel free to email us at success@ryonet.com, or give us a call at 800-314-6390. We're always happy to help. :)

    Ryan question, why did you not keep the screen flooded between each print. wouldn't the ink dry out in the screen?

    • @creepybunny255

      Jake Herron if its plastisol then its OK, water based must be kept flooded

    When you are producing printed T-shirts, you MUST use Process inks.

    • @Ryonet
      @Ryonet  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Rafael, happy Tuesday! You don't need to use process inks unless you are using that style of printing. consider what kind of substrate and how you want the print to look in the end, then research and choose the type of ink you want to use. hope that helps. Happy printing!

    Does this press have that slight "rocking" play that the silver press has? It feels kind of like the whole center assembly is balancing on the center hub, not just rotating on it...

    Ryan, to get a 4 color process print like (which looks so cool) that do you need accurip software? Is it the same process that you do for the last print in the video "art preparation" for the moon graphic?

    • @Ryonet
      @Ryonet  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Jason. The video that you are referring to is the manual way to print the CMYK separation. IF you have Accurip, you will not need to do this. You will just need to import the file in Illustrator/photoshop, make sure that your color profiles for the ink you are using is uploaded, and print using Accurip from there.

    How much time do you have before ink starts to dry in the design with waterbased?

    • @Ryonet
      @Ryonet  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      HI! Unfortunately, that question is very difficult to answer accurately. Your shop conditions of how dry / how humid, mesh counts, type of WB ink etc impact evaporation time.
      In general the answer is between 5 and 20 minutes depending any many contributing factors.

    • @Ryonet
      @Ryonet  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Painting With Magic The JR isn't as good as the WIN, thats why its the JR, but it is EXTREMELY stout, much stronger than ANY other press in its price range. I've sat on it and at 150 lbs the platen barely deflects. :) Ryan

      Absolutely flex! You can hold some pretty large platens on that press but you'll be limited by the size of screen you can hold. We do not recommend larger than a 23x31" on this press.

    When the screen printing mesh have to replace? Can I use continuously until the count of 1000??

    • @Ryonet
      @Ryonet  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is no limit to the lifespan of mesh barring holes, damage, loss of tension*.
      *At a certain point, all screens lose enough tension to make printing accurately difficult. In the beginning, the screen is like a tight drum. When it's time to replace, the screen will be sticking to the print, and it'll be loose like a trampoline. (Also, you can get a tension meter to check when it's time to replace it.)

      The order mainly depends on the design you're printing. Like you say, CMYK is the classic order, but varying this can provide different affects, same as if you change your squeegee angle or pressure :)

    pros never print a push stroke. really?

    • @Ryonet

      Push stroking allows consistent printing for the bulk of jobs while pulling still provides superior ink deposit control. A pro knows when and how to use both efficiently :)

    Remember viewers don't attempt this at home, when your your registering your screens 2 - 6 colour design never leave your squeegee on the screen with dye? messy + headaches.. only the black screen, Because the Black artwork is the screen that holds most of the details. print your black only,........Only!....first, then dry the black print, then register every other colour from that black print.
    You don't have to have dyes on the other screens, until you are happy with the registration, then load the dye and print, starting from light colours to Black. you need to be informative about what you teach.

      hi @Nga Vaka! hope you are well. Black will not always hold all the data. Especially with CMYK images like what's happening in this video. With the exception of the yellow, the other two colors in a CMYK image may have more concentrated data and therefor would have more to set up the other screens to. No need to be so rigid, there's always new things to learn. Also, once you add inks, you may need to still micro register regardless of how dialed in your initial registration was.... and guess what, there's ink in the screens at that point...
