    Regarding the concern of us taking on too many projects...
    Engineering projects like ours take a lot of time, money, and resources. While projects are on-going, there are periods of time where you can't just keep working on a single project. Parts take time to be manufactured, components we order take time to come in, sometimes you even have designers block with a problem. Having multiple projects allows us to produce more content for the channel, and to keep things interesting -- for big projects like Flying Like Iron Man -- it could be months or even a year before that project is complete. Might as well have smaller builds in the mean-time!
    And just so everyone knows, this project is a great example of using stuff we already have in the shop, to make a new project -- it's not costing us additional resources or money =)

    Suggest ideas for gadgets to include!
    So far we're thinking... batarang launcher, grappling hook guns (two) with winches, automated paintball turret, 100,000 lumen + lights, jet engine afterburner, thermal vision, tactical heads up display....

    • @xfactor529
      @xfactor529 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      the Hacksmith I saw once that the mythbusters tried to add a grappling hook to a car so it could hook onto something like a light post and help it take sharp turns at high speeds. You should look into it!

      here are some ideas: a suit that gives you Coles electric powers from infamous(or you could actually build his weapon which is called the amp), a hulkbuster Ironman suit, and a suit that gives you great agility(super speed, can jump high,ext), a suit that makes you indestructible( including being fire proof), and a glider suit😜

    that flame proof suit, is is possible to be used with those rockets you played around with earlier at the iron man project?

    • @theMifyoo
      @theMifyoo 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      From my understanding they are not doing the rockets because of legality of using the number of rockets they would need. However hopefully they will still start using it in the iron man project to provide some extra safety in the event of an exploding battery.

    • @rens6374
      @rens6374 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah indeed, and you could maybe make rocket launcher off your arms possible

    • @bbossautomotive3602
      @bbossautomotive3602 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Rens I don't think that would work. they tried testing with Kevlar and the rockets even burned through that

    • @IZylusI
      @IZylusI 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nerf Slash Boss is right. He already tried using flame retardant material, and the problem is because the rockets create WAY more heat that an aerosol can and a lighter. And I guess the thrust actually eats away at the material which doesn't help either. That, and legal issues to where he could only have so many I think, or because it's extremely hot, and would be dangerous if it caught anything on fire.
      Besides, rockets only give thrust. Once it's gone, you're falling down. The EDFs will provide thrust, and can be regulated from thrust, to hover or whatever he wants to do with it for a few minutes

    I'm honestly confused on why people are complaining. The projects they have are:
    -Flying Like Iron Man (Which is obviously going to take a long ass time.)
    -The Jet Snowboard (Which we've seen them editing the pieces of the video together so I can assume that's done.)
    -The Grappling Hook (Which they've been giving updates on, its pretty much built, they just have to do the ascension device.)
    -Batman Tumbler.
    That's four things, two of which are pretty much done, one of which they've explained over and over is going to take a lot of funding and time to build.

    • @hacksmith
      @hacksmith  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yup... people just love to complain. It's sad how ingrained it is in people's heads that YouTubing professionally is easy, a joke even... compared to a lot of channels out there, our work takes tons of time, resources, and money... it's not like we're sitting around playing video games all day.

    To all of you complaining about how hacksmith starts too many projects, keep in mind that this goes hand in hand with his batman theme. He already has some other gadgets and tech completed to make himself batman, this is just adding on to that. For the projects that he hasn't finished, that's mostly due to lack of funding or available parts at the given moment, but he will be able to continue them eventually. It's his workshop and he's putting together something that he already had (he had already bought the baja), so this isn't starting a whole life changing project, more of just an additional one that is relatively easier than other projects. I think it will go along well, and hey, free content!

    To gain inspiration on how to make a badass batmobile without spending an arm and a leg, I dug pretty deep into DC comics history and I found out that batmobile has basically gone through a number of variations across the years, including Bulletproof Rolls-Royce to rocket-powered hot rod, and I also found a design that was even more Tank-like than the tumbler. It was depicted in Frank Miller’s “the Dark Knight Returns”.

They work on these other projects in between so they can keep peoples interest in the channel, no content = no views, no views = no money, no money = no hacksmith.

    While some where probably expecting a replica of the Nolan Tumbler, I would think that the gadgets that may fit here might be more like the ones on the original batman films. I would like to see you add some sort of rotating batarang thrower, mini flamethrower, and the grappling gun on the side for quick 90 degree turns. Just not quite sure if any of these are viable. Another could be a small ramp jump though.

    It is true that after a couple of years (sometimes even after 1 year) the old frame will no longer pass tech inspection due to new rules that make it so you have to start from scratch so that teams don't just keep using the same car every year and don't have to work at all since it is supposed to be a learning experience. However, that does not mean that an old car isn't structurally sound. The safety requirements for SAE Baja are far more strict than those for normal side by sides. Old cars can be used at unsanctioned side competitions such as winter baja in Michigan (theoretically a car from 2003 would still pass by their rules), or midnight mayhem, where the requirement is that it has passed inspection at a sanctioned event within the past few years.

    If those drive shafts are anything like the Polaris ones that we use, be very careful to not allow the suspension to overextend putting stress on the CV joints. They are an absolute pain in the ass to work on and usually require the destruction of a few snap rings that you can't access, so you just have to hit it with a hammer and mushroom (and then replace) the ring to get it apart.

    If you decide to go with another motor, definitely do a differential engine steering setup. it gets super interesting when you can turn really tight without drifting.

    I did mini baja east for Trenton State College (1991 overall champs) in 1997. We only had 8hp motors back then :( Ours had to be amphibious. It did float, somehow. Heavy but strong. Raced in Montreal and had a fantastic time. My front suspension with non-CNCed axle carriers held up. Great channel keep it up!

    A defense company here in gainesville built a car just like the batmobile, but it was meant to be given to the military for stealth missions. it cant be detected by radar, sonar or anyother detection technology.They didnt meet the deadline so they gave it to my school to tinker with.

      Gerald Harris45 the problem with it is that unless your in the automotive academy(which we fear may get dropped because of low application submissions) the only thing you can do is look at it.
