I remember this excellent series from 1975 and 1976. I was just 9 when it started. I come from Jersey which is steeped in French names. Have made several visits to France and fulfilled my childhood dreams of getting a degree in English and French through the Open University. I wish such programmes would be show on main TV channels now. Excellent Sunday morning viewing.
I just found parts of this course on an old reel-to-reel tape. The sound quality is poor as it was recorded from radio or tv either with a microphone in front of the speaker, or by someone who kept the levels too high, but it was a fun thing to discover even so. There was also an Italian language course and some yoga program that I've yet to identify - and I've still got 30 or so reels to listen through for other interesting things. Great fun.
I like how French and Spanish are SOMEHWAT similar. In that we also follow the same order: el vino blanco, la casa grande, etc. I'm a little sad that the masculine and feminine words are not the same. I was all smug thinking : oh its all the same! Then I saw it's not! For example: tomato is masculine in Spanish, in French it's feminine ahhhhh

i learnt French with this course when I was 15 in 1975. I'm now 62 and work in French speaking Africa. It really opened up new perspectives.

Should be shown in schools, as apart from being so educational, it is also very funny!
Sadly the number of students studying languages is decreasing annually. Not everyone speaks English though. Have discovered that many times.
