- note that parries are server sided so the more ping you have, the more parrying will be difficult for you. Lower ping can parry faster.
video script :
The parries that you just saw are all hit on reaction and not on prediction. Don't believe me ? Watch this video until the end and come back to the intro. Only then you will be able to do the same. Let's dive into the world of one of the most satisfying gaming mechanic : The Parry.
There are two different parry situation. The predict parry, where you make a guess based on your opponent behavior, habits and mind games. Most of the focus attacks in Naraka need to be parried on prediction. There are some ways to get better at these parries but it comes down to observation, pattern recognition, mind games and conditionement. I am not diving into these topics today, even tho they are super interesting. Instead, we are going to talk about the second parry situation : the reaction parry. This time it's not a guess, but a punish. In Naraka, very few focus attacks can be parried on reaction, especially due to ping interactions and parries being server sided. Still they exist, and pro players use them more and more. The reaction parry secret is hidden behind a locked door. And I'm gonna give you the key to open this door right now. But before that, I need to tell you one thing that will act as a hint. So listen carefully. When your character parries, the hitbox of the parry is actually slightly in front of your character hitbox. Do you see where I'm going ?
The key to reaction parries is spacing. Spacing in a neutral game is the act of positioning your character out of the range of the opponent's move. A perfect spacing in Naraka is getting barely out of range of a focus attack so your character hitbox is safe but your parry hitbox is at range to hit. Making a perfect spacing makes you able to parry more safely but most importantly, it unlocks the possibility of reaction parry to some focus attacks. Each focus attack has its unique way of spacing. we are going to see them one by one from the easiest to space and react parry, to the hardest one.
Level 1
These are the ones you probably already know. Spacing these parries usually revolves around a tap dodge back. At this level, we can only punish slow multi hits focus attacks. But don't miss on these ones ! If you don't know them yet, everyone can learn them and improve their parry game.
Level 2
These focus attacks are also multi hits but are much faster. Parrying them on reaction requires a good hold dodge spacing and good reflexes. At this level we start noticing some weapons are better than others for spacing parry. Dagger, fan, longsword and nunchuks have the best parry hitbox.
Level 3
At this level, the focus attacks are mostly single hit, requires a perfect spacing at the right time and above all, requires your brain to be focus and ready to react because these focus attacks will really test your reaction time. And even if you can theorically parry them on reaction as we see right now, most of the time you will need to parry them on prediction.
Okay guys, I hope this video helped you and maybe gave you the motivation to train your parries. I didn't include every single focus attack that is parryable on reaction, but you get the idea behind my examples. If you have any question feel free to ask in the comment section, and as always, take care of you guys. - เกม
You use composite parry or quick parry?
As a veteran who had no choice in the beginning of the game, I use composite parry. There is close to no difference between composite and quick parry.
@@LongNotes thanks! I seen post saying composite is better but I'm too use to quick parry, great vid!
@@nesiansenpai4213 It was when quick parry first released. Now they are almost the same. Quick parry has one downside is when you dodge into quick parry it's very slow. You gotta dodge, hold a mouse button to become blue and then quick parry to emulate what we call a scissors parry which is the fastest active frame parry.
@@nesiansenpai4213 i use only quick parry😂
The artwork at 2:11 is beautiful
This game's parry system reminds me of Sword Art Online ⚔
Ngl that drawing was so helpful and funny at the same time LOL
the drawing kinna hot. still it good to learn from your vid. Thank you so much man
Very good topic, It's time for more people to learn this. Good visuals, those Velocity Untold and Jabbing parries look so nice
I agree
You always be explaining things so well ❤ w
Great video and I'm glad you mentioned bomb dodging because that's key info I didn't have when I started practicing spacing parries. Thankfully, one of your older videos helped me.
What is bomb dodging?
@@_kevingwn the game differentiates between in-combat and out-of-combat tap dodges, with the former being shorter than the latter. On top of that some weapons like katana* have even shorter in-combat dodges, making it harder (or impossible) to get outside of the opponent's range of attack without preventive spacing. But preventive spacing is not always possible, that's where bomb dodging comes in:
You cancel your current animation (usually hold checking in front of an opponent) with the crouch button, then you press heal, and finally, you can do an outside-of-combat tap dodge, because you “tricked” the game into thinking you are not fighting by pressing the heal button.
I recommend you watch LongNotes’ video about “moonwalk and bomb dodge”.
*edit: it's not necessarily that the dodge is shorter, but the animation is slightly different, it looks somewhat slower.
Awesome! you got my Sub.
Awesome video 🎉❤
Looks insane! I see your character moves towards an enemy after dodge, is it because you start to hold mouse button for entering in charged attack animation and then stoping it with another mouse button for alternative parry? 😅
Exact
Especially when the ping is 100+, it is so convenient to catch timings
bro do u use the quick parry or holding lmb and rmb at same time
How to become parry monster
1.have a good ping, which I don't. so every parry I do have to be predicted almost 0.5 sec before (crying in 80ms)
80 ms is literally 0.05 secs more delay than 30 ping... i mean ok i get it it feels more and is bad but all the hold dodge parry tech is doable on 100+ ping
@@llexnn555I do this on 70-80 ms perfectly. Most combos aren't possible, but this def is and consistent.
Hi, could you link/tell what glyphs you use on your Shayol? Thank you
so if A attack B first A are in disadvantage position and B is in proactive position right ? :v I dont know how to spacing well and if i spacing can i attack them if they dont release the focus attack :v
thx
I HAVE TO WRITE IT DOWN, I REPEAT I HAVE TO WRITE IT DOWN ! 🔥
nice info man 'v')b
what would be the minimum ping requirement for this to work consistently?
Videos like these should have input shown
He’s only using tap or hold dodge & parry fam.. what you need is to find the ‘movement guide’ & that’ll help for sure.
what button can do parry like this tks
you parry using the keyboard button or left and right click?
left and right click aka composite parry
👀
What is bomb dogde bro?
Is that possible for 60 fps player?
yes, but this kinda hard for 80++ ms player
@@makiii4759 what if we've both? 60 fps and 80+ ping? 😢
Viable for 100+ ping?
not really no 100 is very high
Le nombre de débiles avec leurs commentaires du genre "mAis mOi j'Ai 250 mS", c'est triste
parry with 250ms xD
"hihi play with 5fps XD XD"
The pain of watching such beautiful parries knowing 98ms will cuck me 90% of the time 😅💀
😢
Bro u play on 25ms what you tlkin bout
Facts
no hate but with such a heavy accent, you should use some t2s programm, gl
Disagree, it's much more pleasant to hear a real person talk, and he's also improving his English with every video
What is the best character in your opinion?
