Lucky agony, If I would jump better, I would have kill him.
I borrowed shin's beginning.
This is a random attempt of the clone war, despite the glitch at the beginning and how bad I played, I still beat it, though I allmost die.
I also tried killing the other clone that respawn in one clone, the one I kill in 00:36, killing this guy first is a bit hard cuz he respawn at the right side, so you usually get him to the air with the other clones, this isn't a good tactic, cuz after reduce spawn to 5 clones you still will have to kill that anoying clone to the left, that when he is an artemis clone, he is the most dangerous clone of the fight. So I don't recommend it.
This attempt also help to realice how many clones are. There are 96 clones in my opinion, I didn't count them one by one, just some simple math dividing in phases.
Phase 1 (4 Remorse): Only 4 clones, 2 clones respawn in one(each one), and the other 2 respawn in 2(each one).
Phase 2 (42 Remorse): After phase 1, each clone will respawn 7 times, having 6 clones at the same time, so 6x7=42.
Phase 3 (25 Super Remorse): After phase 2, each clone will respawn 4 times, so you have 6x4=24. but one Super Remorse respawns 5 times instead of 4, so there are 25.
Phase 4 (25 Regrets): Same as before, the same super remorse that respawn 5 times, will respawn 5 times as a Regret, so we have 6x4+1=25.
(Agony doesn't count), In fact, I try killing agony with infinite magic PR lv 3, waiting with the first 4 clones for first agony respawn, then launch them 2 times to grab agony at least 2 times (before the family dies), and then PR all the way, Im pretty sure I killed agony like 11 times, If someone has a savepoint on easy, I would thank him if he try to kill agony to know if he has limited lifes or not. (I said on easy, cuz on god the other clones will kill too fast the family), and I don't want to start another run on easy just to check agony's lifes.
So , TOTAL = 4+42+25+25.
TOTAL = 96. =)
At 1:01 that is the glitch I hate the most.
Besides the first Artemis clone that I usually kill, there is another clone that respawn at allmost the same location, this clone is the other dangerous clone, cuz whenever he can, he will go behind the family and hurt them in a hard position for plume. At 8:27, I kill the last clone and super remorse respawn appears at the left side, this particular clone will respawn 5 times as a super remorse and 5 times as a regret , weird isn't?

When i played this on God mode with all maxed out, the clones were so aggresive you could barely made a combo..they were jumping on me, while the others killed my family..took me 10 days to finish this

I just used rage of the gods so I can spam army of hades and Poseidon’s rage. All while grabbing them cus it kills them in one hit

This is for God mode (Very Hard)
1st, try to make sure you're health & magic are as full as possible after your fight with Ares.
S,S,T = Square, square, triangle
P.R = Poseidon's Rage
AoH = Army of Hades
ROTG = Rage of The Gods
For save the family: square, square, triangle is helpful. Run behind the stairs by the altar & keep using S,S,T on your family since you cannot hurt them. Try to take as little damage as possible. Keep as much health as you can until the building gets stripped away.
When building gets stripped away, stay towards the back side of the alter still attacking your family with S,S,T. Then use Army of Hades from your own magic. It better be maxed out (lvl 3). S,S,T some more. When Army of Hades is almost done, activate ROTG & use PR twice (go for 3x's if you can) BUT make sure you activate AoH once more right b4 your ROTG runs out. At this point ROTG should be done but AoH is still active. Use that time to hug your family. It should replenish their health & your ROTG meter. Try to get it back full so you can re-activate it. That is the key. Re-activate ROTG, & use AoH again with PR. That should end the battle shortly.
Thanks for sharing. That is a good way to win, but it defeats the purpose of this video.

How does it defeat the purpose? This video is labeled "PAIN", which indicates he is playing by a specific set of rules. The rules basically state that the only legal weapons you can use are level 1 Blades of Chaos (iirc). All other weapons and magics are banned, and no upgrades at all are allowed.
EDIT: This includes health and magic (not that magic is used) upgrades. Just to be clear.

I had no idea "PAIN" was specific rules. I really thought the person was tryna say this part was a pain in the ass b/c it was for me. And I couldn't find any videos strategically showing how to beat this part, so I dropped that info in the video for others also struggling or for my future self if I ever decide to play this game again on the HARDEST difficulty & forget how to do it. Although idk why I would. But you're right. When I scrolled down, I seen the rules that the person wrote about no upgrades, etc
I had a hunch that was the case, which is part of my wanting to leave a comment and start a conversation.
This is definitely *THE* hardest part of this game, so I like to check all sources I can for information. I was pretty well prepared by the time I got here (and I had infinitely regenerating magic so I could spam the crap out of the magic so this was a cake walk for me)

How the hell can this be on God mode??? I tried this so many times last night on hard mode AND I used magic and I STILL haven't been able to beat it yet!!! The clones seem so much less aggressive in this fight too compared to mine.
the clones are the same in in each difficulty (there isn't an increase of agressiveness between difficulties, only in GoW2).
U re probably doing something or all wrong, since the battle isn't hard at all to control it with magic...there are videos in youtube showing how to do this battle with magic, and once u get the tactic is pretty easy...
Without upgrades is a whole different story, mainly for a real challenge and 4 show :)
TazOne1 I beat the game last night on hard mode!! My strategy was using only the Army of Hades magic since it seems to be the most powerful and I used the orbs to power it up beforehand. I also used it when I activated Rage of the Gods so it was unlimited. The final battle vs. Ares with the sword was easier for me for some reason. Such an amazing game! I need to get GOW 2 ASAP!!
Aggression/Recovery does change, but that isn't the heart of the matter. This fight is balanced around something you're not allowed to tap into for the run type. The tactic doesn't work with the thing you lack (obviously). You're not going to have a good time even on even Glorified Normal (Hard) with MAX extensions and upgrades if you're going about it this way.

nice handling although i was expecting it to be more of artemis mixed version. 1:01 glitch is indeed very annoying. that and there's another glitch when u attempt ascension. it's more rare to happen but kratos goes grab fail animation like how u would try to grab enemies u can't grab normally like cyclops. 9:38 was some dangerous moment. i bet most would get pissed if they make up to that point and gets game over. well played. :p
2 hours later and only the second to hardest difficulty. With max health + mana + RotG + magic. Idk if I can take this

am not offended :), this is a no upgrade run, only blade of chaos run, i have very little moves variation i can do, and how hard this part is, i just worried on finish it instead on doing w style...in part7 on my NUR v2 i did it w more style though

I always wonder whether developers ever guessed this battle would be beaten with no upgrade and magic, putting 96 clones in it.

@BlackDeath2437 Also, I believe that been the best in this game, doesn't mean to beat it without upgrades and with no damage, there are so many good players around, that not only play very good and have good reactions time, they are even good in finding glitches and doing speedruns, play very well with or without upgrades, and know everything related to damage percentiles and others, like BigVEE, Akheon, findlistick, satvara, shenminiu.
Check those out, you will be amazed.

I been a little busy thanks to college, but still have time to play.
(Asura's) I have seen the latest trailer/pseudo gameplay, but I'm not that into the game, will have to wait till his launch to see how good it is :).
(NG3) I'm not too convinced, but I'll play it for sure.
(DMC) Not know too much about it.
I still have to return to realize my work with Dead Space 2 (I took a long break from the first one before finishing up that Melee ONLY NUR+ as well). I still want to do work with Infamous (and the sequel) in the same vein. SW:FU:USE beckons. And then there is NGS/NGS2 (NG3 looks like it can go fuck itself along with DmC).
I'd like to get back to doing at least Expert AI and Challenge 300 with every character (just Kratos so far) *MK9*. I just know it will be awhile before I make progress.

But hearing your comments, i think i am not giving any challenge to the champion i talk. Let us alter the challenge? I was thinking. Should i restrict your movement so you cannot use the move joystick in any wey possible. First i fought it would be too hard but again the longer i was thinking, i was starting to be asured you would destroy this challenge with ease. I mean i talk with someone who is doing casually no damage runs like he is going to buy bread. Then you drop me with the "Most of the run will be a joke", my confidence fell and my mind was full saying just one thing repeatedly with no stop.

For those who have trouble, do the combo with Square, Square, Square, Hold Square.
Believe me, it works, try to refrain using magic until the building has collapsed.
Except, this is a PAIN run, so no upgrades, so that combo is illegal. But not bad advice for those playing normally.

@shinobier yep, you right I should had done something different, I will try to mix a bit the artemis at the beginning and see what happens, the idea of this battle was to do a true PAIN version, but now, that I saw it, I did exactle the same as the first time I uploaded it, I used Artemis at the end haha, and this is not PAIN again, haha. well, the idea of usint punt at the end, was for having more time to kill that fucking zeus fury clone.

You do me a great honor than I yet deserve, friend. There is still the matter of the clones to address myself. These NGR+ NUR+ are interesting, but even they don't compare to that one battle with NUR settings or higher. I'm about to wrap up the GoWII version (the last title to be done this way).
I have to return to Bayonetta briefly to Plat it for a friend (just have to clear Hard and Climax *easy*...and get those damn birds again). Then noted PAIN+ and NBR business.
Can you explain the difference to me between this and pain+. I heard Mrstarkiller say in a post it's impossible to do this on Pain+, why is that?

what makes me laugh is i do exactly what the vids show and advise to do exactly how thy do it and i still cant beat it bloody typicle they have to be different per difficulty i did it on easy and was done quickly and no challenge atall but on hard mode nothing works i tried magic way tried melee way and mixed way theres just no way i can complete this and it took forever just to get past twathead to get to this bit and i gotta face him after this aswell at this rate ill never get past this on god
You better be doing NUR or higher if you're using these tactics. This isn't meant for vanilla VH. The Clone War was designed entirely with the expectation the player is going to have MAX BoC for Athena's Blessing, Ares 1 gives a full RotG refill, hugging the family transfers our HP to them (while giving rage) and AB being active means infinite MP (to power the combination of augmented PR and AoH). That's how this fight is balanced. Without a strategy working around this, you better be on bitch settings or you're getting fucked until you learn the ropes as Taz had to long ago.

Looks more like a 'movie' than a game. Too many QTEs, cutscenes, mini-games, etc. Feels like only 25% gameplay and that looks a bit shallow. Amusing to gawk at, but not so much play.
(NG3) Looks terrible to me. Kunai Climb, Ryu running like a punk and taking orders from some woman, enemies begging like cowards, no delimbs (extension of the Sigma policy of nudering the series), gay rage rather than UT, etc.

Let me guess, you think orb percentiles change with settings in GoW1. Adorable. Perhaps you disagree with damage? Grabs are not altered by settings. What of what is done to Kratos and the family? That much is quite in line with what VH offers.

Nobody is making you take on the Clone War in H or VH with NUR conditions (and tactics meant for them **without exploiting a bug**). You're welcome to abuse infinite MP during rage from MAX BoC like the devs intended.

Not really. Just this fight and only if you don't use the tactic the devs intend (abuse MAX rage for unlimited use of upgraded magic **AoH and/or PR** while hugging the family to transfer your HP to the family in exchange for rage meter **thus rewarding avoidance of damage on yourself and damage done to the family so as to 'ride the line'**). That's if you're on H or VH.
With the former, you can family move right over the cliff (they won't fully die from full HP and become impossible to harm further **making the battle a joke**). With the latter, moving them would only be to get them in a better position (not between you and the Agony clone and not getting surrounded from both sides so easily). Getting them to the platform Agony uses later before it breaks away should be a free win so long as it isn't right in his firing path).
