Jennifer Hudson from Chicago so I knew she could double dutch. As far as I can remember my cousins from Chicago taught me and my siblings how to double dutch when they would come to the South during the summer.
This was the comment I was looking for right here! Yes! Yes! And yes!! Double Dutch rope was THEE top thing we went outside to play and do here in the Chi!! Boys used to try to do it, too! So much fun! I’m born & raised here, so I already knew JHud knew what to do!
Double dutch was a popular pasttime amongst inner city youth when I was growing up. I still ❤ it hence the reason I joined a nationwide 40 & over double dutch movement. There are chapters in various cities. I am so glad to see these young ladies embracing the sport in this age of devices and social media.
😂This was a really great show for children. Helping those jump roper's to stay positively productive.❤⚘❤⚘❤Thanks Jennifer Hud and awesome staff. Marlin, you're #1 in my book.❤⚘❤⚘❤⚘❤⚘❤😀
I just love your spirit and your personality. You are so down to earth. You are my hero girl. You hang in there through everything you have been through and that encourages me so much. If I have money I would definitely come to your show but I do not. But thank you thank you thank you for being Jennifer Hudson the real real❤
@Dani Terry It's actually not unfair to say it's sad right and the truth, their not talking about them their talking what is being seen sometimes we have to pay attention to what is being said and understand the truth to it
@@kerrylarry8110 then go teach the girls to Jump rope then. It’s another thing to sit and complain about what you perceive is not happening…make a difference.
@Dani Terry You acting as a child rigjt now and it's very sad, their only mentioning what's being done ans what the world sees, you mad at the comment and in your feelings for no reason, see my grandmother always said its always one person to get mad at a situation and not willing to hear what is being said stop taking things personally which you are.
As a 40 year old black man i used to be in that rope hiving the business those were the days, i wish the generation learned this and learned how to not pist everything on social media because back then we didn't have it
I thoroughly enjoyed this. Brings back memories. They took it to another level. So refreshing to see young people doing something positive and being fit and active. History might be repeating itself! IF, you know who don't take over. Peace and love and more power to you.
This brings back memories from when I was a child. I was in different groups one was double dutch, baton, Hulu hoop, ballet and model from the age of 9-14. I was living in Chicago with my family and we moved to Pontiac, MI when I was 15, I am now 69 .
0:17 - WOW 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩!!!!! These ladies can practice some double dutch moves while doing and playing a jump rope 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩!!!!! 3:11, 3:14, 3:20, 3:34 & 3:43 - I like doing double Dutch a lot! You Go Ahead Jennifer!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Very nice show, not sure if many know that this developed with Detective David Walker from 32nd precinct in Harlem. Competitions every year. Which is why the Walker classics take place at the Apollo annually in December. It would be nice to see some 70’s champions with current champions.
Yes, listening to the rope really is so true especially if you playing with phone cords like I did back in the day and you don't want to get hit cause...baby...it sure do hurt😂 that's the hard way of hearing the rope...literally 😂I love me some doubledutch...so miss those days ❤
I didn't live in the inner-city, but we did play double dutch in junior high and it made me miss those days when I saw this today. As a side note, Jhud needs to learn how to say No to certain outfits. She need to tell whoever is dressing her that she's JHud💥 and can't be wearing that. Some things they put her in she look cute, some times on 🔥 but other days I just be smdh. I'm saying this outta ❤ JHud.
Kids should be participating in more fun outdoor activities like this, instead of spending an excessive amount of time in electronics. And these activities give parents time to better bond with their kids. Thank you for this video.
Girls jumping double dutch eating a big sour pickle wearing their Fred Braun shoes. South Jamaica, New York. Early sixties. Not stuck in the house playing video games, we were all in the street.
Nothing like back in the days actual fun and body movement and fresh air ❤

Grew up jumping double dutch in the 1980s and early 1990s with my sisters and girls that lived on the block👍

Double Dutch was a big part of the black inner city experience. Today young girls only know Tic Tock, Instagram, lace fronts and eyelashes.
And fighting is what they love doing as well
That’s unfair to say. You just saw young girls jumping rope

I'm 45 years old and was probably the only male double dutch jumper in my neighborhood growing up. Great times and memories.
I thoroughly enjoyed this. Brings back memories. They took it to another level. So refreshing to see young people doing something positive and being fit and active. History might be repeating itself! IF, you know who don't take over. Peace and love and more power to you.

Glad to see our people keeping their roots. Don't lose your roots people or make anyone take it away. Black culture is part of one's identity.
