    Hi everybody! Thank you for all the feedback.
    After using the microphone more, I believe the 60Hz buzz at 9:18 is not interference from a wireless device, but due to some kind of grounding issue with my setup. It can appear mid recording when I move the mic, and sometimes dissipates when I touch the body for a bit.
    This is the first microphone where I've had this issue.
    My working hypothesis is that the body of the microphone is floating, meaning it is not properly connected to ground. Awaiting response from neat before attempting a teardown.

    This is the first King Bee 2 video on TH-cam (of the physical mic). Congrats!

    Just got my king bee 2 in today as well. Already recorded a song on it and I like the results. It sounds better than my blue mic and close to my avantone cv12. I like how it handles sibilance so I'll be using this baby alot!

      It's great to hear that it's working out for you!
      I'll have to take a closer look at how the sibilance is for me, because my voice for sure needs good sibilance handling.

      @@SparkY0 same here. Most mics hurt my ears when I record but this one seems to do a better job. I'm not saying.otsbthe greatest but it's nice!

    In the one review I saw for the King Bee, the guy complained about the color and then painted it black. Thanks guy.

      The bee stripes aren't as important to me as the care and design detail that made the bee microphones unique and cohesive products.
      That's the difference between a device that I use and a device that I Love!

    They should have named it "King Turtle" or something instead lol! Fully agree- the unboxing experience of the worker bee was unparalleled. The whole thing feels like it's worth so much more than what it costs. I was also hoping to get the original King Bee after my experience with them, but unfortunately it was unobtainable by then

    Unfortunately it seems it's lost all of it's personality. Hope it holds up like the king and worker bee did.

      @@SparkY0 they changed because a lot of people said they were turned off by the looks... So I wont blame them they literally just listened to what the people had to say. but what Im truly kinda disappointed about is the packaging... Honestly fr i hope the mic is really fucking Good...

      The King Bee 2 by no means looks bad, in many ways it looks a lot better than the King bee 1.
      If they wanted to call this exact microphone the neat "King" I would have been totally behind that... So long as they had some fun and well-done chess branding go to with it.

      @@blackspider4 The real question is have you ever seen turtle Beach use a turtle in their branding?

    *worker bee's capsule is triangular btw, it can be visible if you shine a torch through it

    • @SparkY0
      @SparkY0  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey you're right! I see the King Bee 2 has this triangle as well.
      I just opened up the back of the worker bee to take a quick peek. It has a round 25mm capsule with the backmost part having "NEAT" molded into yellow plastic. The triangle is a big rubber piece to suspend the capsule and absorb vibration.

    King bee ll vs worker bee? Which do you like better?

    • @SparkY0

      They both have their place, but lately I'm using the King Bee II more often

  • @MarcosR413
    @MarcosR413 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    thanks for the info. I currently own the worker bee as well and I could say with confidence that I would have been pretty disappointed if I ordered the King bee ii. guess the first thing turtle beach did is cut costs. It's sad they sucked all the personality out of it. a yellow Pop filter and straps should have been a given. hows does it compare to the "old" worker bee?

    • @SparkY0
      @SparkY0  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I can say that the King Bee 2 has higher sensitivity than my worker bee, and the worker bee has a flatter, more transparent sound. The frequency response in the king Bee 2 quick start guide sounds correct to my ear. Meaning it sounds like there's a boost to the upper frequencies in KB2.
      You can hear my worker bee through my setup in many of my other videos, as its my "go to" (although not in this video as it was on the table). My repair of the tron mouse is all ADR through the worker bee from the same interface/location, do to some issues with my bench mic setup. Although most of my other content also has some EQ, compression, NR etc. applied.
      Unfortunately I can't do a side-by-side until after Thanksgiving. Also my King Bee 2 may be defective, so a deeper look and teardown of the mic will also be delayed until I can resolve my grounding issue with Neat.

    Have to say not too shabby this microphone. I have a Shure SM7B, using a GOXLR, and this actually doesn't sound too far off like it, for the price of it. 😁

    I was so looking forward to the New King Bee. I’m very disappointed after watching your video. The fact that it’s by Turtle Beach, a gaming centric company, is even more disappointing. A large company that took a nice, low-cost product, with many features was stripped down and priced higher. 🤦🏻‍♂️
