    My question is when I'm doing a retarget do i go with a new addset in a cbo campaign or I'm doing a new campaign specifically for one product. Anddo i go with a new ad or I can use the existing one with all the comments and likes ( social proof )? tnx :)

    Thanks for the content Ben! I've seen in forums people talking about how lookalike audiences perform better too when doing 1% to 10% so it may be the case there too that broad audiences work better after the update. You could do a video sharing your impressions regarding lookalike performance

      Without changing anything, my go-to lookalike audience’s performance dropped significantly.
      The source of my lookalike is my Facebook page’s engagers, so I’m confused why it stopped working.

    One quick question: 'Frequency' in Facebook ads determine the number of times a particular ad has been shown to a customer, so how does retargeting fit here? Facebook, anyways, would be showing the ad multiple times to an audience by default, so why should we go for retargeting in that case? Thanks in advance.

    Hey Ben, I'm wondering what you think of utilizing manual placements more than automatic? My Add to Cart conversion was basically the bread and butter of my campaigns. Many of them led to purchases upon retargeting. I know generally the majority of the cart adds came from the Facebook News Feed and Instagram Feed, so I'm thinking I may be able to keep everything within the Facebook "ecosystem" if I use manual placements and maybe adjusting cpc so my costs don't run out of control. Would love to hear any thoughts!

    Ben, we are still so confused on the actual tracking that we are losing, even just for regular conversion ads. Some ppl explain that we will still know when an iOS user buys with the Aggregated Measurement, but how is Fbook targeting these people to begin with? Have we lost all iOS users to targeting for traditional ads? How is Fbook choosing who to show the ad to now? That's the big question my colleagues and I can't seem to find the answer to. Do you have a video on this that I'm missing? We really have appreciated your work! Sincerely...

    • @BenHeath
      @BenHeath  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Jen, I will have more videos on this topic but to help clarify... Facebook still have all the in-app data. So they can still what people do on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. The data they get from those platforms will provide them with tons of info to be able to identify who is interested in what. So you will still be able to target everyone you used to.
      For people that opt out, which is likely to be somewhere people 10-25% of your total retargeting audience, you are going to have much less visibility over what they do on your website and may not be able to retarget them based on website actions. You will still be able to retarget everyone that engages with your business on Facebook or Instagram.
      We don't exactly know what data is going to be provided from Aggregated Events Measurement at this point.
      I hope that helps clarify things for the timebeing - it is pretty confusing.

    I find that with both retargeting and general ads the Facebook estimate is now way off. For example a retargeting video of mine is saying I could get around 30-90 thru plays for £1 a day with a reach of 400 people, but in reality it only shows it to 100 people and get charged £0.34 per thru-play. This video before IOS update was doing £0.07 per thruplays. Not sure what to do from here. I can`t afford 8x times more expensive retargeting...

    Hey Ben, boring noobie budget question here. Can you start with a $500-1k per day ad budget and be highly effective with a campaign? Or is it more effective to start low around 100 per day and move up gradually? Are these strategies likely to receive similar outcomes in the long run?

    • @BenHeath
      @BenHeath  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Nick, you can certainly start a campaign with that budget and you are likely to learn a lot faster. It's just an increase risk doing so before you know the campaign can deliver. You won't run into problems from a Facebook optimisation stand point though.

    Hi Ben!
    Quality content. Liked and subscribed!
    I do have a question about the iOS 14 update. It seems like a lót has changed with advertising.
    Results are really volatile at the moment, normally a revenue of +/- 6000 a day and now it's decreased to 4000.
    Normally our campaigns are set up with a test campaign (5.5 USD per ad set), women between 20-40, placements in IG feed and explore and 4 creatives (2 photo's, 1 video and 1 carrousel). After an ad set is succesfull we scale it to a new campaign or a CBO x5 ad sets with a budget of 150 USD per day.
    Do you have any tips for people struggling with the new update?

    • @BenHeath
      @BenHeath  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Awesome :)
      That's a good question but it's very difficult for me to recommend things because this is all so new and things are changing within the platform daily. First thing to do is corroborate your data with other sources. Are your campaigns performing a lot worse, or is that a reporting discrepancy? We're seeing that with a lot of clients.
      Duplicating campaigns and running the new version seems to help temporarily and using larger audience seems to help stabilize results.

    • @WVDVDC
      @WVDVDC 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BenHeath Hi Ben! Thanks for the excellent advice.
      It's indeed a bit of a tricky situation since it's been performing a bit worse, but not abysmal. The reporting is also off, which causes you to scale/kill ads a bit like you're blindfolded. Combine the issues above with the facebook page limit (we had to create an extra one), it also decreased the results.
      I'm also hearing by some coaches that automatic placements work better now than before (I always used IG feed/explore placements).
      Anyways, thanks for the tip and I'm looking forward to your upcoming videos!

    Hey Ben! Do you think that the retargeting audience sizes will drop if the primary audience is built off of Instagram interactions? (ie IG saved post, IG engagement...)

    • @BenHeath
      @BenHeath  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The retargeting audience is the primary audience. I think you mean lookalike audiences? If so, lookalike audiences won't shrink but they may be less effective if the source audience shrinks.
      However, Instagram interaction audiences won't shrink as they are on app :)

  • @1rua
    @1rua 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Here's a thought - could the downturn in sales etc also be down to Facebook not telling us the truth about how many people are REALLY seeing our ad's. Who's to check if they're telling the truth or not?

    • @BenHeath
      @BenHeath  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think there is really an incentive to do that. Facebook would be better off using higher CPMs which has increased massively over the years anyway than to artificially inflate impressions. Also, for impressions to really decrease you would need a big increase in number of advertisers or a big decrease in platform use over a small amount of time. I don't think either of those have happened. It's always good to be skeptical though! I could easily be wrong.

    Hey Ben Ray Wood here from Toronto. I'm trying to navigate FB Ads Manager and set up instructional vids for my real estate agent clients. Is there a video in your stable of awesome content yo can recommend? Looking for current FB layout

    Hey Ben! Small question as an FB marketer do you pay for your client's ads and they pay you, or does every ad account use their own payment method? Thank you in advance, love the content!

      Hi Justin, we get our clients to pay for ad spend directly. I wouldn't want to be on the hook for those payments if a client refused to pay.

      @@BenHeath Thanks Ben! So every client adds their payment method in their ad account. And as a marketer you can just buy the ads, ofcourse within the budget

    after suffering a 20x drop in ROAS in spite of lots of objective improvements to the website (speed, load time, functionality etc.) with standard campaigns I can say that for some the algorithm stopped working properly and there was a huge increase in view costs. For larger budgets the effects was smaller then for smaller budget. After a bit of research I noticed that the difference seems to be correlated to long term and not short term budget value so my guess would be that Facebook got scared they'd loose the large advertisers and gave them "discounts" under the hood to keep them somewhat steady while they sacrificed the smaller advertisers. It's not fair but I admit that if I was in charge of FB I would probably do the same. As soon as total ad spend crossed about 10000 USD I had a sudden spike in performance with no changes to the campaigns - about a week ago.
