You would be absolutely perfect on 'This old house' you need your own tv show, you and Greg. You are a natural infront of a camera and also teaching/explaining your craft
A pro tip if, you didn't know already, instead of cutting aluminium with a snipper is to scratch a line with a sharp Stanley knife and then fold it and break it. You won't get wavy edge as with a snipper.
Love your guy's channel, I use it as inspiration for my own dream shop build on my channel. While I'm not nearly as talented as you guys I'm DIY on a budget! Keep up the great content.
Hey Kyle- could you do a short content on the details of the grade build up for the inside concrete floor and how the concrete interfaces with the piers and grade board? How far up the grade board does the concrete finish grade end up? Where does the floor thickness end up relative to the bottom of the post? All that sort of detail. I’m having a hard time visualizing how that all looks. Thanks for all you share, it’s very helpful.
That looks nice! Here in Wyoming I would love to try that soffit. Being a contractor, I always like seeing new stuff that makes our life easier. Thanks for showing that part.
soffit looks good...on those gables I always start at the bottom with one vented piece and finish at the top with a vented...then you get good airflow to let that hot air in cavity vent at the top...jmo
We use the smartlap for fascia on all our siding builds here in British Columbia, Canada. I love the look. Tip for ya. Install the soffit j normally on the house, install your soffit like you would normally as well with the staples into the sub fascia. Then before installing the lp fascia, put a reverse drip edge to cover the cut side of the soffit. All major brands sell it obviously. It also allows for easy removal if your soffit gets damaged. You can either install it by staples on the sub fascia side, or use screws on the bottom, like you would with regular fascia, to have easy access for repairs! You get a nice flange to cover your cuts, and it’s so simple for instal! Love the channel, and all your tips!
Wow what a journey flying across wherever to look at different new ideas in the metal industry what a way to go fly into the clouds so that you can see your next product thanks for the journey we really appreciate it😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Cool tour!! Their equipment reminded me of all the years I worked maintenance in a vinyl siding manufacturing plant!! From the formers, to the cutter! it does go together quicker than the vinyl soffit did!!
Huge fan of poured concrete forms that look like stone which Andrew Camarata just put in on his enclosing of his garage space. "Ground force wind protection" i think is a huge deal in building everywhere outside of the Northeastern USA as are reinforced garage doors. New Tesla Cybertruck truly amazing hauling machine from what I've seen if you're tired of paying for diesel fuel. Ford and Rivian making really good looking battery electric vans which might be the best thing ever for finishing work mobility/tool shed on wheels. Definitely a huge fan of metal roofs. Spray foam insulation has gotten good press as well (Lumah Acres also on TH-cam.) One of the best way for creating passive insulation later on is putting a second roof right on top of the old one somewhere down the line. Amazing how far construction materials have come over the past 20 Years as well as the tools😮😮😮😮😮😮 Definitely no fear of charging top dollar for all of this tho.
Kyle, when mating the two surfaces of the soffit material, I'd bet a nickel that the two mate up the way they do, without two surfaces lying flush together to prevent any place for moisture to condensate and then sit, wet for a long time, between the surface, causing eventual rust. Just my 2 cents! Looks great!
I would like you're opinion on the insulation they offer to go between the metal roofing and purlins my last barn didn't have it and we got condensation just a livestock barn your input would be appreciated thx
All the experience you 2 have got, maybe is there some idea you both have to make certain jobs easier, you could develope?? Loving the series but, as the houses around youre workshop are so close, are you limited to what noises you can make??. like revving machines, banging etc: Thanks for the video.
You have a great show, you explain things so well. Better than a shop teacher:) BTY I live in area and one of the first videos I saw I recognized about where you were. I was surprised to find out that I drove past your new shop all the time, going to the marina. So Friday I was the black Ford the tooted as you were leaving for the day. It kind of startled me, you pulling out, I just was going to take a glance at the shop, driving by. Great work.
Kegan just got famous your not gonna be able to go anywhere without signing autographs taking pictures. Seriously though that is a great product also i don't remember y'all doing a birdbox
I have a similar product that was put on my home almost 25 years ago. The issue I find is that today I am look at replacing my fasca as it has discolored and looks unsightly do to the weather conditions here in Florida. But the more difficult part is when I installed cameras for a security system around the home and had to take this type material down to put a reforcement board above it to fasten the cameras to it. And my fascial vent install has staples in both sides that I have to remove to get the panels down.
You mentioned you're not using metal siding. What are you using? Love your channel and OCD.. I've been a finish carpenter for 40 years and stressed over 1/32" gaps, out of square and out of plumb!
That soffit product looks pretty nice for a conditioned attic space but I'll be building a vaulted non conditioned attic space so I won't need that type of soffit material. I'll probably go with western red cedar.
You should always hold your ledger board an eighth to quarter inch higher than facial. That way there's no chance of water following your soffit down towards your building.
Forever learning new skills 58 and I have skills but the they can become hard to learn if you don't keep updating got to do my Maths and English again I don't retire until 2032
I wish when I started working in the mid 1980's I had a boss like him, no one taught me anything, I operate heavy equipment, but I had to learn everything the hard way, this guy tells you everything he knows and then some, I enjoy watching you both work together
Instead of using a level in marking for the soffit, could you just use a framing square flat against the wall and up to the bottom of the facia board. Be more accurate if your walls are true plumb and quicker. Just a thought.
Poor Greg I understand dealing with a very awesome boss who is completely anal retentive ADHD you name it all this guy has it he's an amazing Carpenter Craftsman skilled guy take this opportunity to learn and grow and I wish you both all of the success in the world , however if you find yourself on a contract job not in the boss's backyard you can't take a year and a half to do every single thing otherwise he won't make money and that is truly the name of the game is to make a profit only if your quality is there and reputation is kept I understand you're filming everything and it takes an enormous amount of time I don't have anything negative to say other than poor poor Greg laughing out loud
You got so much cuts on your hands while installing the roof because you didn't wear gloves. I was thinking you were not comfortable with gloves. Now, I see you with gloves. You should've wron them sooner.
“No! Hand it to me right” is such a dad move, Greg 😂

My name is Kegan! I’m not the one that packed it but it was cool to hear my name!

Great job as always guys. 👍👍🏴🏴
The “sweet little plane with a built in parachute” you flew out in is a Cirrus, and I’m gonna be an engineer for Cirrus when I graduate this month!
I am fascinated by Factory tours, but always amazed at the tool design.
You got a mention on Scott Brown Carpentry site yesterday.
I was surprised by that, then realised I shouldn't have been. Scott is a perfectionist, so it makes perfect sense he would shout out Kyle & Greg.

Darn good opinion as that's the whole point of doing this.

The supplier trips are great. This old house did this along time ago and it was cool…. Keep up the good content

11:07 I thought it was gonna pan over and Greg was piloting 😂

The new soffit you're using is the same locking concept as vinyl soffit. Good locking features and quick and easy

Good Morning to all!
All the experience you 2 have got, maybe is there some idea you both have to make certain jobs easier, you could develope?? Loving the series but, as the houses around youre workshop are so close, are you limited to what noises you can make??. like revving machines, banging etc: Thanks for the video.
I wants one just like it!!!! Thing is built way better than my house
You have a great show, you explain things so well. Better than a shop teacher:) BTY I live in area and one of the first videos I saw I recognized about where you were. haha awesome

It’s time Greg starts standing his ground and watch Kyle meltdown😂 awesome job guys
You, Greg, and your families have a Wonderful Resurrection Day!!!
That would be a Cirrus plane. Built in Duluth, MN. Not all that far away from me.
I have a similar product that was put on my home almost 25 years ago. Good morning happy Easter 🐰 1👍😃👍

really like the grainy texture of the metal
I was also shocked when you didn't nail the J channel 😔 hindsight is 20/20
Hi Greg!
Great Kyle 👍
Gregg should be included on the Vegas trip. He is your right hand man. Batmans Robin.
The Lone Rangers Tonto.
This guy just might know it all! 😮
“Give me the dumb end”… when 2 people are measuring.
What staples do you use to attach the j-channel and soffit?
Kyle there’s a basket level button on the lift control board just so you know
They need to make the soffit where it literally snaps into place. I do like how fast it goes up. Im a little Leary if da wind is going to rattle it.
Love the look of that soffit. What about insects, usually wasps, trying to get in the channels?
You should always hold your ledger board an eighth to quarter inch higher than facial. That way there's no chance of water following your soffit down towards your building.
Nice job guy's, you keep telling him Greg 😅
You need to get a sheet of aluminum veneer plywood for those end caps that would make a nice job
If you bring siding and face board up to the soffit, how do you remove the soffit at a later date?
Ya Should have put some can lights in the Soffit!
Other than cost, any reason you don't run J-channel both along the building and the roof edge and then just slide the soffit down?
He explained in the video. This will get LP Siding, then a trim - not metal siding. Obviously made the install FAST!
To me it J would look better. Seems a little blue would show
Good afternoon
Gotta respect the balls it takes to put your name and picture on the product. To me that’s better than any warranty
I definitely like the soffit! So, how are you going to hide your staples?
Presume, with siding, trim.
Vinyl soffit goes up the exact same way. The only thing I don’t know is, if vinyl can come in black I like that black look though.
Where can I get inch and a half thick rockwool
i demand a toolbelt video
Hey Greg, I know what it’s like working for/with someone that’s OCD!😂
What jacket are you wearing??
Nice
Cirrus SR22 Turbo
Going to do something special when hitting a bilion views?
Late.. FIRE!!!
Haw haw 🤣
Forever learning new skills 58 and I have skills but the they can become hard to learn if you don't keep updating got to do my Maths and English again I don't retire until 2032
Is that speedlap going to rattle in the wind?
That's what I think.
I wish when I started working in the mid 1980's I had a boss like him, no one taught me anything, I operate heavy equipment, but I had to learn everything the hard way, this guy tells you everything he knows and then some, I enjoy watching you both work together
I’ve hung countless feet of vinyl soffit and it locks the same way. I can’t believe it’s a new thing in metal.
👍
👍✌

😁👍🏼
The volume on this video is turned way down. I had to turn my computer volume all the way up to 100% when I normally have it set for 40%.
😃👍🏼👊🏼

Why not wear safety glasses instead reciting fire
You have become more condescending to Greg the longer you work together not very cool.
You got so much cuts on your hands while installing the roof because you didn't wear gloves. I was thinking you were not comfortable with gloves. Now, I see you with gloves. You should've wron them sooner.
More work, less talk.
That stuff looks abit cheap and nasty. Won't it rattle around in the wind?
Seems like it might rattle in the wind.
what nails did ypu use to hang your soffit I have always used soffiy screws
