God, these lines battles bring back so many good memories. I've been in about 3 regiments in warband and they were some of the best gaming experiences I've ever had.

There's an awesome book called "a treatise on the tactical use of the three arms", and it's really important for a commander in such a battle. for instance, bayonet charges are essential for infantry victory, and the proper method of bayonet charge is IN COLUMN. In a column formation, infantry have a huge amount of momentum, and they are certain to outnumber the enemy at the point of contact, *which is the only point that matters*. Apollo keeps talking about teaming up in a bayonet fight. the column formation is ideal for facilitating teaming up. Discipline is very important in a bayonet charge. Keep together, don't let people go off to the side. If you can charge in column, you can drive the enemy from their position. The other big, big problem is that slow, careful volley fire is infinitely more effective than fire-at-will. If you are going to shoot, do it carefully, methodically, accurately, and in unison.
