    That’s one exciting piece of kit. Essentially a raspberry pi for industrial applications.

    I actually bought one after I watched this, I'm still testing it though. Siemens should sponsor this channel, seriously.

    With this Debian system we can install Node-Red on it, or even a Codesys based PLC. Another great installation would be a remote linux control package as AiKhan.

    Hi! Is there any way to get data from a Siemens PLC and this IOT2050 using Profinet? I have tested raspberry pi based IPC computers but I can’t find a way to get data from a PLC using profinet. I have tested snap7 for python but it is not fast enough.
    Thanks!

      Well the question is - do you really.need profinet for it? Profinet is great for IOs as it's deterministic. For IT/OT integration protocols like MQTT, pure TCP or JSON RPC would probably make more sense. Check our other videos where we cover these

    how long does it take to boot? iot2020 - boots in more than 4 min. ( including node-red)

    • @zielonooki845
      @zielonooki845 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      dual core 2050 boots up (with NodeRed) in 49 seconds, so it's 5x time faster than IOT2020. but it is freaking hot about 50C - , (even with such huge radiator ) You can't hold hand on it.

    Can you also startup x on the display port?

    • @AutomationStation
      @AutomationStation  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it is not in the default build but you can install 'task-xfce-desktop' for example to have the XFCE desktop environment shown through the displayport on boot!

    Thank you so much for the information. Is there any way to install Ubuntu on same device? Thanks

    • @AutomationStation
      @AutomationStation  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure, don't think there's an ARM image of Ubuntu even available

      There is a ARM image but it doesn't work for IoT2050.
      Thanks

      Solved the os issue. We are using Ubuntu 20.04 server on IoT2050 gateway.
      Thanks

      @@yogeshk04 Why Ubuntu? What's there in Ubuntu that you need but not in Debian?

    Did siemens just repackaged a cheap Raspberry PI and sell them at 10x the price? Good intro but that's all I can see from this device!
