Borrow my Mates PS4 while he is away on Saturday, so o can’t say from a buyers view, but the game is an 8-9/10 for me. Again, then final stretch of crime events has burnt me out on the open world, the boss fights so far are very repetitive (shocker, Fisk, negative) and only villain chase mission I’ve played so far is against shocker, and I wish here were more, hoping vulture has a chase mission as I loved the chase against him in the first movie game, and enjoy those missions as stated. The puzzles were meh, but easy and didn’t annoy me too much, I loved chasing the pigeons (noticing a theme of what o want in spider-man games) and the combat is pretty good, reminds me of spider-man 2. About halfway through I turned QTEs off just because I wanted to watch these amazing cinematic without having the pacing of it slow because it wants my input. A bonus nod is my favourite suit looks great in this. Of course, it is the MK iv suit
You’re right, it would be really cool to see a game universe made up of a bunch of individual games like the MCU, but completely separate from the movies.

I beat the game and got platinum and beat all 3 DLC's and finished them. Great game, great story, great DLC's. Insomniac did a fantastic job with this game.
Doctor Octupus is the main villain. Aunt May dies in the end. Tombstone and Taskmaster are side villains. Silver sable is introduced but no boss battle with her. Miles gets bitten towards the end of the game. Symbiotes are teased for the next game. Green Goblin is not in it but heavily mentioned. Peter does not die in this game. MJ and Miles are stealth mission characters. Bosses in order of story are Kingpin, Shocker, Mr. Negative, Electro + Vulture, Rhino + Scorpion, Mr Negative again, Doc Ock.
I honestly think you can say that about any game XD. God of War is the best game of my lifetime. I enjoyed Spider-man though. Sad to hear you didn't, but glad to hear you like God of War :)
Ran to target after school, bought the last copy played it all night and its amazing. Combat feels fun like Arkham, the world is incredibly detailed(found some places in New York which arent that major but I have greay memories at), the webslinging is amazing and flows brilliantly. Havent got too far, but the boss fights Ive played have been great, the characters are fleshed out, and the amount of easter eggs kept me(a religious classic comic reader) more than motivated to keep hunting down those backpacks and hidden locations. Overall this is a great game, and up there with Arkham City as my favorite superhero game. Also the suit collecting is addicting

I think the strongest thing insomniac managed to craft, was flow. You're always moving between things rapidly either in swinging or in combat, especially once you maximize the mechanics your entire kit enhances the flow of the game.
The attention to detail in this game is absolutely fantastic! One of my favorite things is when you’re listening to the audio logs in the lab. If you position the camera so that the recorder is behind an object, the sound gets muffled. It’s small things lol
Also have you guys noticed when he’s on a call? He sounds like he’s straining to get some words out depending if you are swinging or walking or just standing still

When I exited the menu, Peter said "Oh sorry about that Aunt May something happened, what were you saying again?". It was something like that and it put a smile on my face to see that as that is something Peter would really do.

Well keep in mind amazing Spider-Man 2 was just not fun so people like myself were worried about this title but after playing it for just 2 hours I will say I felt that awe feeling the first time I saw the 2002 film where you felt like you were there with spidey must buy for all marvel fans
You are forgetting one thing to tell people, the boss battles suck. They are cool, but compared to everything else, it slows the pace and isn’t as fun and is very repetitive. I wish there were more chase missions like when you chase shocker around the city. Those plus the burnt out amount of crime events in the open world are the only things I did not like.8-9/10 for memos that I finished it... the sinister 6 fights were somewhat fun
Got it today, played 2 hours, wasn't bored the whole entire time, it's so amazing, swinging and parkour is my favorite thing about the game. Combat can be tricky at first but is really fun once you get used to it, I like how you also play as Peter and Mary Jane, it shows that spiderman isn't spiderman 24/7, and the story is good so far, id give it a 10/10!
To me, combat doesn't feel as fluid as the Arkham games but thats because the Arkham games keep melee battles and battles against goons with guns (Predator mode) separate unlike this one where they literally mix both melee goons and goons with guns. Its kinda hard to get a satisfying combo when you got 3 goons targeting you with rocket launchers in addition to fighting goons with melee weapons. Lol Also, how did they not address Spidey kicking people off the roof? I thought Spidey didn't kill. XD
Man I started playing this last week. Got it for $15 for Black Friday with the dlc. I’m super impressed by the game. It’s such a perfect game to play after a long day of work. You get to kick back, web swing and fight bad guys

I absolutely LOVE this game! I'm going to upgrade to a PS4 Pro and 4K tv because I want to see SM in all its glory. Unlike friends of mine who also got the game, I'm taking my time playing through the main story mode. My nephew "beat" it in 2 days but I'm sure he didn't do all the side quests and get all the secret photo ops. I just want to enjoy SM as much as possible without rushing through it. I agree about the camera sometimes being wonky but for the most part, it's ok. What I wasn't too fond of was the actual wall-crawling. There were times I'd be standing on a roof or ledge and would want to climb down the wall and you can't. Also, there would be times I'd be climbing up a wall and there would be a ridge that ordinarily SM could continue crawling over but in the game, it stops him. Small nitpick... The suits were kinda underwhelming, really. I liked the MCU suit and a few others but quite a few were quite ugly and I wouldn't want to play in them simply because of aesthetics. What I did love was how the weather effected the look of the suit. One in particular was the MCU suit. Wear it in the rain and you'll see what I mean. Can't wait to see what the DLC offers and kudos to Insomniac on not microtransaction-ing us gamers to death. This game is a great beginning to what I hope is a continuing series and I expect it to get even better from here.
Joe There’s more Daredevil easter eggs than any other Marvel character. There’s a TON of Daredevil Easter eggs in this game. It’s almost like they may be hinting at something with that, or they could just really like Daredevil. 🤷🏻♂️
What is truly amazing for me is the nostalgic feeling i get, i used to play the PS2 games and i loved web swinging through the city. This is already one of my top games to buy as soon as i get my hands on a PS4 Pro.

I just got the plat last night, and beat the game and I gotta say even though I'm a huge fan of the Arkham games, This is a 10/10, best superhero game ever made. The story alone blows anything arkham did narrative wise out of the water and the last quarter had my heart pounding. The boss fights were super fun, and thats extends to its superb combat, at first glance you may think its like Arkham because of the quality of animation, but Arkham's free flow is way more scripted, theres one path to dealing with many enemies and its gets stale by the late game. Spider-man is not at all the same its combat allows for a huge amount of skill growth, self expression, and its never too easy to feel satisfying -which it may rival God of War this year for satisfying combat. Traversal goes without saying being the best in a super hero game, No spider-man has been this polished in movement and its leagues more fun than gliding and grappling or the batmobile in the Arkham series. Even the game's stealth areas are a joy because they're quick, its about speed and execution, they're out of the way whenever you want them to be so it never overstays its welcome. Just a super well polished video game, and I love that Spider-man is the face on the box. Great Job insomniac

I bought this game 1.5 days ago and im about 45% done its so fun but i would love it if the game was longer and there would be an expansion pack. This game is up there with horizon zero dawn
There is a reason why every single one of my friends owns a ps4 and it also happens to have the best sale this generation, just get it instead of missing out on all the exclusives because you chose one console over the other.
It honestly doesn't even borrow that much from the Arkham games when it comes to the combat. There were a lot of Spider-Man games before the Arkham franchise which all did cool things with combat. It would be more fair to compare the combat with that of older Spider-man games.
The thing tho is that the game lacks innovation. A lot of the mechanics are obviously inspired by the Arkham games, for example: the light trajectory they show us as a gunman is about to fire is literally from the tank battles in Arkham Knight. The Arkham comparison was obvious enough but the Dock Ock hallucination segment after getting poisoned from Scorpion is straight up the demon trials of Ra's al ghul in Arkham city. The game is great storywise (in spite of Doc Ock feeling like a rushed villain) and gameplay wise but it lacks innovation and isn't revolutionary like Arkham City was to the superhero video game genre. Arkham City is regarded as one of the greatest games ever created. And this is written in its wiki. The day Rocksteady unveils the DC game they've been working on, it'll be another Arkham City masterpiece.

Hey I'm not sure but I didn't get Stan Lee cameo. The cutscene when MJ is about to go outside the screen faded to black then back to Spidey gameplay. I'm not holding the controller at that moment, so I'm pretty sure I didn't skipped it by accident.
I always play games on the hardest difficulty and I'm so glad to say that it actually was challenging. There are some very difficult enemies even just standard enemies can be hard and it feels so much like a realistic spider-man experience. This game is probably my second favourite of the year after God Of War.

Sony isn't really even an asshole company if your referring to the crossplay thing. Xbox did the exact and literal exact same to Sony last gen as the 360 was doing well and sony came up with the idea first and it was rejected. Now that xbox is severely lagging behind even switch is catching up they wanna team up, hell no. Besides Sony does team up and do crossplay with PC games and even sony products work with PC so they are good with eachother. So PC and sony for gaming is good, xbox can reflect what happened last gen as it bites them in the ass for being pricks. When you hurt someone and become selfish don't expect to be forgiven and given charity when you need the help for the problem you didn't even help with in the past.
Personally this game is probably my all time favourite single player game (well joint) it’s just so fun and every time you play you just want to get that next mission done. I couldn’t stop playing it and there was always something to do. The combat surprised me as I thought it would be exactly like arkam which it half is because it’s so fluent and feels more light on the feet with keeping the style of Arkham. This is a game already the top of 2018 in my opinion I’m just waiting for red dead to say that fully but seriously this is a must play even if you aren’t the greatest marvel fan it’s just a solid great game to play.
This is my game of the year. I haven’t been able to put the game down. I don’t remember playing a game where I had so much fun.. I enjoyed the dialogue, action, the graphics and everything else. The story had sad moments, exciting moments and spider-man made me genuinely laugh so much and I loved all the side characters ... my opinion this a great 9.5-10 out of 10
He can swim in the new game, which i was disapointed at first but then remembered the time i wanted to swim as spiderman as a kid. I needed those shortcuts!
I love it, although I wish the story was longer but I love the emotions of Peter and the setup of sinister six! Fun game, but I'm hoping we get more marvel insomiac games like this. Maybe a daredevil game or doctor strange of this style
It's great how New York city is accurate with Earth 616. Web swinging is amazing, swing and hit building but instead face planting you run on it. Combat is smooth. Theres so much that's great about the game. Who can forget Peter's jokes, those are funny. It's a perfect spiderman game
It's called rechargeable batteries. Honestly, if you've been buying normal AA batteries for years you are not a smart individual. Energizer rechargeable batteries will give you a 16+ hour charge for 4 years and you get 4 of them so there is never any down time plus they cost 20 dollars. If you think built in batteries are better than external batteries then you have no idea how batteries work.
I dont care about the Xbox having crap games, but the battery joke is lame as all hell. Either get the rechargeable pack or buy a bulk thing of batteries. At least you have the option to stay wireless. With the PS4 you’re stuck plugging it in, or stopping your game and letting it charge
I couldn't get to playing until Saturday evening but ooooh my god it's so fun! It feels so genuine. Peter is still just nerdy and awkward enough and still just enough of a kid to feel like a good Peter. The backpacks are so cool. And unlocking the towers didn't feel like a chore because of how fun web slinging is. After playing sunset overdrive years ago I knew insomniac had this in mind and I'm soooo glad they got the rights and made this. 9/10 for sure!

Anyone else genuinely hate fighting sable goons? Most gadgets don't work and they just always have ranged a-holes. Jetpack ranged a-holes, a-holes with missile launcher, and APCs with miniguns. I fucking love the game but damn they're just super annoying to fight.
I felt how you feel towards the end of the game on the hard difficulty (spectacular?) but now that I have almost 100% the game I am cruising through it and wishing there was a harder difficulty. I look back and am glad those guys are such dicks bc otherwise i wouldn't be challenged anymore. Sable bases are some of the most fun i can have outside story mode.

I think the strongest thing insomniac managed to craft, was flow. You're always moving between things rapidly either in swinging or in combat, especially once you maximize the mechanics your entire kit enhances the flow of the game.

The attention to detail in this game is absolutely fantastic! One of my favorite things is when you’re listening to the audio logs in the lab. If you position the camera so that the recorder is behind an object, the sound gets muffled. It’s small things lol

When I exited the menu, Peter said "Oh sorry about that Aunt May something happened, what were you saying again?". It was something like that and it put a smile on my face to see that as that is something Peter would really do.

You are forgetting one thing to tell people, the boss battles suck. They are cool, but compared to everything else, it slows the pace and isn’t as fun and is very repetitive. I wish there were more chase missions like when you chase shocker around the city. Those plus the burnt out amount of crime events in the open world are the only things I did not like.8-9/10 for memos that I finished it... the sinister 6 fights were somewhat fun

Got it today, played 2 hours, wasn't bored the whole entire time, it's so amazing, swinging and parkour is my favorite thing about the game. Combat can be tricky at first but is really fun once you get used to it, I like how you also play as Peter and Mary Jane, it shows that spiderman isn't spiderman 24/7, and the story is good so far, id give it a 10/10!

To me, combat doesn't feel as fluid as the Arkham games but thats because the Arkham games keep melee battles and battles against goons with guns (Predator mode) separate unlike this one where they literally mix both melee goons and goons with guns. Its kinda hard to get a satisfying combo when you got 3 goons targeting you with rocket launchers in addition to fighting goons with melee weapons. Lol Also, how did they not address Spidey kicking people off the roof? I thought Spidey didn't kill. XD

Man I started playing this last week. Got it for $15 for Black Friday with the dlc. I’m super impressed by the game. It’s such a perfect game to play after a long day of work. You get to kick back, web swing and fight bad guys

@@derrickrose5933 nah fam. I honestly just didn't sleep much. Couldn't put it down. For the plat it took me 34 hours and for the Main story 20. Others here in the comments even took 25 hours just for the story.

I absolutely LOVE this game! I'm going to upgrade to a PS4 Pro and 4K tv because I want to see SM in all its glory. Unlike friends of mine who also got the game, I'm taking my time playing through the main story mode. My nephew "beat" it in 2 days but I'm sure he didn't do all the side quests and get all the secret photo ops. I just want to enjoy SM as much as possible without rushing through it. I agree about the camera sometimes being wonky but for the most part, it's ok. What I wasn't too fond of was the actual wall-crawling. There were times I'd be standing on a roof or ledge and would want to climb down the wall and you can't. Also, there would be times I'd be climbing up a wall and there would be a ridge that ordinarily SM could continue crawling over but in the game, it stops him. Small nitpick... The suits were kinda underwhelming, really. I liked the MCU suit and a few others but quite a few were quite ugly and I wouldn't want to play in them simply because of aesthetics. What I did love was how the weather effected the look of the suit. One in particular was the MCU suit. Wear it in the rain and you'll see what I mean. Can't wait to see what the DLC offers and kudos to Insomniac on not microtransaction-ing us gamers to death.
This game is a great beginning to what I hope is a continuing series and I expect it to get even better from here.

I just got the plat last night, and beat the game and I gotta say even though I'm a huge fan of the Arkham games, This is a 10/10, best superhero game ever made. The story alone blows anything arkham did narrative wise out of the water and the last quarter had my heart pounding. The boss fights were super fun, and thats extends to its superb combat, at first glance you may think its like Arkham because of the quality of animation, but Arkham's free flow is way more scripted, theres one path to dealing with many enemies and its gets stale by the late game. Spider-man is not at all the same its combat allows for a huge amount of skill growth, self expression, and its never too easy to feel satisfying -which it may rival God of War this year for satisfying combat. Traversal goes without saying being the best in a super hero game, No spider-man has been this polished in movement and its leagues more fun than gliding and grappling or the batmobile in the Arkham series. Even the game's stealth areas are a joy because they're quick, its about speed and execution, they're out of the way whenever you want them to be so it never overstays its welcome. Just a super well polished video game, and I love that Spider-man is the face on the box. Great Job insomniac
When you play at the highest difficulty, ALL of the encounters are challenging. And I like that.

It honestly doesn't even borrow that much from the Arkham games when it comes to the combat.
There were a lot of Spider-Man games before the Arkham franchise which all did cool things with combat. It would be more fair to compare the combat with that of older Spider-man games.

The thing tho is that the game lacks innovation. A lot of the mechanics are obviously inspired by the Arkham games, for example: the light trajectory they show us as a gunman is about to fire is literally from the tank battles in Arkham Knight. The Arkham comparison was obvious enough but the Dock Ock hallucination segment after getting poisoned from Scorpion is straight up the demon trials of Ra's al ghul in Arkham city. The game is great storywise (in spite of Doc Ock feeling like a rushed villain) and gameplay wise but it lacks innovation and isn't revolutionary like Arkham City was to the superhero video game genre. Arkham City is regarded as one of the greatest games ever created. And this is written in its wiki. The day Rocksteady unveils the DC game they've been working on, it'll be another Arkham City masterpiece.

Hey I'm not sure but I didn't get Stan Lee cameo. The cutscene when MJ is about to go outside the screen faded to black then back to Spidey gameplay. I'm not holding the controller at that moment, so I'm pretty sure I didn't skipped it by accident.

I always play games on the hardest difficulty and I'm so glad to say that it actually was challenging. There are some very difficult enemies even just standard enemies can be hard and it feels so much like a realistic spider-man experience. This game is probably my second favourite of the year after God Of War.
My only problem with the hardest difficulty was dodging enemy's, but now its all good

Sony isn't really even an asshole company if your referring to the crossplay thing. Xbox did the exact and literal exact same to Sony last gen as the 360 was doing well and sony came up with the idea first and it was rejected. Now that xbox is severely lagging behind even switch is catching up they wanna team up, hell no. Besides Sony does team up and do crossplay with PC games and even sony products work with PC so they are good with eachother. So PC and sony for gaming is good, xbox can reflect what happened last gen as it bites them in the ass for being pricks. When you hurt someone and become selfish don't expect to be forgiven and given charity when you need the help for the problem you didn't even help with in the past.
Personally this game is probably my all time favourite single player game (well joint) it’s just so fun and every time you play you just want to get that next mission done. I couldn’t stop playing it and there was always something to do. The combat surprised me as I thought it would be exactly like arkam which it half is because it’s so fluent and feels more light on the feet with keeping the style of Arkham. This is a game already the top of 2018 in my opinion I’m just waiting for red dead to say that fully but seriously this is a must play even if you aren’t the greatest marvel fan it’s just a solid great game to play.

This is my game of the year. I haven’t been able to put the game down. I don’t remember playing a game where I had so much fun.. I enjoyed the dialogue, action, the graphics and everything else. The story had sad moments, exciting moments and spider-man made me genuinely laugh so much and I loved all the side characters ... my opinion this a great 9.5-10 out of 10

It's great how New York city is accurate with Earth 616. Web swinging is amazing, swing and hit building but instead face planting you run on it. Combat is smooth. Theres so much that's great about the game. Who can forget Peter's jokes, those are funny. It's a perfect spiderman game

It's called rechargeable batteries. Honestly, if you've been buying normal AA batteries for years you are not a smart individual. Energizer rechargeable batteries will give you a 16+ hour charge for 4 years and you get 4 of them so there is never any down time plus they cost 20 dollars. If you think built in batteries are better than external batteries then you have no idea how batteries work.

I dont care about the Xbox having crap games, but the battery joke is lame as all hell. Either get the rechargeable pack or buy a bulk thing of batteries. At least you have the option to stay wireless. With the PS4 you’re stuck plugging it in, or stopping your game and letting it charge
I couldn't get to playing until Saturday evening but ooooh my god it's so fun! It feels so genuine. Peter is still just nerdy and awkward enough and still just enough of a kid to feel like a good Peter. The backpacks are so cool. And unlocking the towers didn't feel like a chore because of how fun web slinging is. After playing sunset overdrive years ago I knew insomniac had this in mind and I'm soooo glad they got the rights and made this. 9/10 for sure!

Stop praising this as a GOTY candidate. But this honest review style - sure its nothing too great but a really solid experience that brings you joy - that is what gets me to buy stuff

Anyone else genuinely hate fighting sable goons? Most gadgets don't work and they just always have ranged a-holes. Jetpack ranged a-holes, a-holes with missile launcher, and APCs with miniguns. I fucking love the game but damn they're just super annoying to fight.
I felt how you feel towards the end of the game on the hard difficulty (spectacular?) but now that I have almost 100% the game I am cruising through it and wishing there was a harder difficulty. I look back and am glad those guys are such dicks bc otherwise i wouldn't be challenged anymore. Sable bases are some of the most fun i can have outside story mode.
I love fighting sables cos of the difficulty...specially the jetpackers

Same. This game really is a master piece and the collectables really aren't a pain in the ass as usual in open world games. The only let down was the end of the black cat collectable side quest but they gotta set up some things for the dlcs/ the sequel right? :D

If you are a Spider-Man fan in the slightest way than you will LOVE this game. (Coming from a true Spider-Man fan). It literally does everything that you’d want a Spider-Man game to do.

This game is my Game of the year, I loved God of war and i'm sure i'll be amazed by red dead 2 when that comes out but as a lifelong Spidey fan do you know how long i've been waiting for a quality spider-man game, this is the best spider-man game ever made and it rivals the Arkham games for best super hero game of all time.
