As the guitar started I thought "This sounds impressive". Then the vocal came in and just blew me away. What incredible maturity and perfect delivery from such a young fellow. A truly masterful performance.
I have been making a living out of playing as a solo guitarist/singer for 37 years, I would kill to have half of Josh's talent. Best thing on TH-cam by a mile.
Kid,s, I have plying guitar for 50yrs.. This young man is gifted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!With a voice to match! What he does with a guitar is unbelievable..Now a BIG fan!!
3:19 playing two simultaneous lines in different dynamics is a Big Brain Move This arrangement should really be one of his most popular videos, so insanely good
There is not one genre you cannot master....young man, you are loved, respected, admired and yeah I suppose envied by many, many people. God has truly blessed you with so much ability and you have added the necessary elbow grease to make it all happen. Continued success in the future!
i cant tell in words how good this is. on the one hand you are such a great singer an on the other such an incredible guitarist. you are not an typical finger style guitarist, it has much more dynamics and lead inside. and it isnt alway the same, it is awesome how you can fit your guitar to the music. sometimes you play more sometimes less and the lead fills are always a little bit different. so its like i am just watching what you are doing next. i play guitar myself and have many idols but none of them is similar to you, you have your very own style and i love it. and this small touch of gain in your sound gives me chills
I've followed your internet career from the very beginning, and to watch the quality of this performance now is wonderful. A real natural talent honed through years of dedication. Special.
I've watched a ton of your videos, but the sheer skill in this one is mindblowing. You've got every little thing in there, every tiny melody, all the intricate specifics, all the voicings that make this song what it is. What Sinatra needed an orchestra for, you did on solo guitar. Insanely good man!
I’m 67, and I’ve always loved this song. Sinatra blew into our lives like a warm summer breeze back then. The lyrics reflect much of my sentiments as I reflect, and the song means so much more now. Josh, your talents have only increased as I’ve watched you over the past several years, and you have done such justice to this song. The talent that is most forthcoming is one of you and those about you, revealing your maturity and the fact that you are an ‘old soul’. Thanks so much. Keep on keepin’ on.
Many marvelous things about this recording but one I really appreciate is the amount of gain in the guitar path. Clear and sweet when played gently and breaking up just right when it gets louder.
An awesome looking and sounding guitar. This is one of my very favorite songs since I was 17. Now I am in the autumn of my years. Josh, a great interpretation!
Josh, you are amazingly talented! The way you've mimicked the orchestral arrangement here and in other songs is ingenious. The skill with which you play, and the quality of your voice is leaving your followers speechless. You are indeed a rising star... all the best to you and thank you for entertaining us!
when I saw the title I thought "Oh no, don't do it, that's too tall a mountain for anyone to climb." And, my goodness, he did it. a worthy rendition of an unmatched song.
I don't know which is better his amazing left hand finesse of the fingerboard, his right hand fingerpicking and strumming or his superior vocals. Put them all together and you have a musical master. Another fine video by Josh Turner. What an amazing talent.
I bet you where told this a million times but man... your music is amazing... i love it so much. You and your friends do the most beautifull music , and i would love one day to get to see you on the big stage in from off millions. PLEASE don't ever give up on music , much love from Portugal!
My eyes are misty and I have the chills. What a fantastic arrangement! You continue to grow in skill and breadth of repertoire. When I grow up I want to be able to play like you. (I'll be 64 next month).
So glad to find Josh and all of the music he's done over the last 11 years with his friends and various players. He's seems to take so many songs from so many artists, and respectfully to the original artist, he just seems to make them better in some ways. Perhaps like treasures handed down, and he humbly, without even intending to, he naturally polishes them up. What I also find amazing, is that even though he has his own tender and great range in his voice, he effortlessly channels a true shade of tones and inflections, of those who he covers, be it paul simon, paul mccartny, james taylor, bob dylan, and here even frank, among others.. And that to stellar guitar and banjo, and other instruments he plays, and just Wow! It reminds me that humans can be worthy, and that beauty still exists, even in the midst of the sh*tshow that this world has to offer, which babbles on and on and on.... Thank you to Josh and to other empowered musicians playing to uplift the world and do art or art's sake, if nothing else.
My favorite from your channel. I keep on listening to it again and again without getting bored. Special mention to the guitar arrangement and playing. Wish there could be a tab for it !
Astonished.. Hadn't heard this song since I bought it as a teen on 45 RPM and played it to death when it first came out. Just an hour ago, now at 64, it came fully into mind (this morning cooking breakfast, I happened to think about a city girl from the '80s, the big one that got away!) and I was surprised to find I remembered and could still sing the whole thing and hear all that lush instrumemental in my head. Smiled and thought "Yep, that sums me up, all right! Great song, I wonder if there are guitar sheets for it, sort of Joe Pass or Jimmy Rainey style?" Smiled some more. Then thinking about other awesome but mystifying guitar styles I could never figure out, I started thinking about Nick Drake and Bert Jansche (whose great Black Water Side I recently found many YT tutorials on). 10 minutes later I was on TH-cam looking for Drake, and found your great breakdown of Nick's sound, which led to your superb Three Hours, then to Hazy Janie. And then, by completely unasked for magic, to here. Funny old universe. Thanks for a bit of time travel and a superb performance! And I'll break out the guitar and get your tabs...
Absolutely astonishing. Quite apart from brilliant playing, just six strings sitting in for a whole Nelson Riddle orchestra, Josh has a wonderful voice, sweet, rich and with none of those harsh cracks that people “oversinging” get. I cannot imagine what he will sound like in another ten years time. I had just watched the original session, then a very creditable tribute from our own Robbie Williams, then this came up. I won’t look anymore as I think it just peaked. I’m a rock guitar fan at heart, but good music, well played or sung is good no matter what genre. So much talent, a wonderful soothing find at the end of a day.
Love that you are really connected to what you play. You don't seem to play songs out of bragging rights or just B/c someone requests it. Your admiration for the music & the instruments you play is inspiring.i will be this good some day soon
Josh! This is a very difficult song that is saturated with emotions, full of dynamism and artfully prepared is entered. Excellent guitar and singing with enormous power, I can only congratulate him!
i'm in the autumn of my life.... your heartfelt rendition of this old beauty brought me to tears. thanks, Josh. i pray when you make it big you will still be you. i worry for you. God bless.
Over these last two weeks I've been watching your videos and needed to tell you I love the way you play and sing, stylish and very talented. I hope you can show that special talent for a long time and a lot more people. Something like that is always necessary to share. Greetings from Spain. :)
Sitting at home on a rainy Monday morning in Scotland, you've captured my mood perfectly! Many thanks for posting. It's always a pleasure to listen to your wonderful music.
How the hell can anyone not like this? Must be jealous and envious. Well, I'm envious also but I know a musical genius when I'm seeing it. Great rendition of a classic Sinatra.
I don't want to diss your singing in your other videos, but I think you're in particularly good voice in this one. Your voice just sounds so good to me here. It's like you're channeling Sinatra.
I am killing my confinement time with Netflix, but there are moments I do something else like watching TH-cam: recently Josh Turner and Carlson too. But you are so bloody good, Fauda, how exciting it is, has to wait. You are a musical gift to human spirit. Love your voice too.
Awesome stuff Josh! You may not remember me, but I (Luke) hosted you as a prospective student at Hope College back in 2010. You picked up a banjo in my room and amazed us all. Glad to hear you are still making great music! I've been binge watching your videos since finding them! Keep it up and I'll keep listening!
Bravo! I have to say I think this is one of the very best versions I've heard of this great song. Great player, great vocal. You! You gotta gift! You do! JL
I was born in the early 40’s and I can honestly say “Frank Sinatra” would have been proud to have Josh playing in his orchestra. I’m convinced - there’s nothing this guy can’t do on guitar - AND HE’S SO YOUNG...
What an amazing gift you were given, and what passion you must have for it to have worked so very hard to make it look so effortless. Wishing you all the best at turning this into a lucrative career.
I have always been an old soul when it comes to music. Glad to see you are too. Good Job. Keep the Classics and Classical alive. I will continue to subscribe as long as you do. :-)

One of the best covers I had ever seen
this is the best performance of this song I have ever heard.

When genius cover genius. Never grow tired of this version. Love what you did to the composition; especially the "35" part.

I can't understand why people give it the thumbs down, the kids obviously a very talented person. Great playing and great song.
The harmony concept of this song is incredebly complex, your version has captured it all. Cheers
I never imagined anyone could do this classic justice with just a guitar, I like your style Josh, first class.
My eyes are misty and I have the chills. What a fantastic arrangement! You continue to grow in skill and breadth of repertoire. When I grow up I want to be able to play like you. (I'll be 64 next month).
Seriously man, your channel is one of the most musical channels I have seen in TH-cam. :)

All true. Except Gordon Jenkins did the Sinatra arrangement, not Riddle. ;)

Gosh, cue round of applause. I know the song but I had never listened to it until now, excellent playing and sound.
Love your guitar playing as always, but your singing is also outstanding.
Truly a classic rendition of a great piece. You really ought to be picked up by a major label from somwhere
that is the most badass headstock I have ever seen
you deliver the good shit every time! well done man.
I was born in the early 40’s and I can honestly say “Frank Sinatra” would have been proud to have Josh playing in his orchestra. I’m convinced - there’s nothing this guy can’t do on guitar - AND HE’S SO YOUNG...
