Thanks also to my Patreon patrons for helping make my videos possible!
Recorded straight to a Tascam Portastudio 414. Filmed on a Canon Rebel T3i. New shot location: Brooklyn, NY. If I can make it here...

i cant tell in words how good this is. on the one hand you are such a great singer an on the other such an incredible guitarist.
you are not an typical finger style guitarist, it has much more dynamics and lead inside. and it isnt alway the same, it is awesome how you can fit your guitar to the music. sometimes you play more sometimes less and the lead fills are always a little bit different. so its like i am just watching what you are doing next. i play guitar myself and have many idols but none of them is similar to you, you have your very own style and i love it. and this small touch of gain in your sound gives me chills

I've watched a ton of your videos, but the sheer skill in this one is mindblowing. You've got every little thing in there, every tiny melody, all the intricate specifics, all the voicings that make this song what it is. What Sinatra needed an orchestra for, you did on solo guitar. Insanely good man!

I’m 67, and I’ve always loved this song. Sinatra blew into our lives like a warm summer breeze back then. The lyrics reflect much of my sentiments as I reflect, and the song means so much more now. Josh, your talents have only increased as I’ve watched you over the past several years, and you have done such justice to this song. The talent that is most forthcoming is one of you and those about you, revealing your maturity and the fact that you are an ‘old soul’. Thanks so much. Keep on keepin’ on.

Astonished.. Hadn't heard this song since I bought it as a teen on 45 RPM and played it to death when it first came out. Just an hour ago, now at 64, it came fully into mind (this morning cooking breakfast, I happened to think about a city girl from the '80s, the big one that got away!) and I was surprised to find I remembered and could still sing the whole thing and hear all that lush instrumemental in my head. Smiled and thought "Yep, that sums me up, all right! Great song, I wonder if there are guitar sheets for it, sort of Joe Pass or Jimmy Rainey style?" Smiled some more. Then thinking about other awesome but mystifying guitar styles I could never figure out, I started thinking about Nick Drake and Bert Jansche (whose great Black Water Side I recently found many YT tutorials on). 10 minutes later I was on TH-cam looking for Drake, and found your great breakdown of Nick's sound, which led to your superb Three Hours, then to Hazy Janie. And then, by completely unasked for magic, to here. Funny old universe. Thanks for a bit of time travel and a superb performance! And I'll break out the guitar and get your tabs...

Absolutely astonishing. Quite apart from brilliant playing, just six strings sitting in for a whole Nelson Riddle orchestra, Josh has a wonderful voice, sweet, rich and with none of those harsh cracks that people “oversinging” get. I cannot imagine what he will sound like in another ten years time. I had just watched the original session, then a very creditable tribute from our own Robbie Williams, then this came up. I won’t look anymore as I think it just peaked. I’m a rock guitar fan at heart, but good music, well played or sung is good no matter what genre. So much talent, a wonderful soothing find at the end of a day.

So glad to find Josh and all of the music he's done over the last 11 years with his friends and various players. He's seems to take so many songs from so many artists, and respectfully to the original artist, he just seems to make them better in some ways. Perhaps like treasures handed down, and he humbly, without even intending to, he naturally polishes them up. What I also find amazing, is that even though he has his own tender and great range in his voice, he effortlessly channels a true shade of tones and inflections, of those who he covers, be it paul simon, paul mccartny, james taylor, bob dylan, and here even frank, among others.. And that to stellar guitar and banjo, and other instruments he plays, and just Wow! It reminds me that humans can be worthy, and that beauty still exists, even in the midst of the sh*tshow that this world has to offer, which babbles on and on and on.... Thank you to Josh and to other empowered musicians playing to uplift the world and do art or art's sake, if nothing else.
