- After being forced to play the flingza roller by AI, I was surprised to find out that I actually enjoyed it. So please join me on my journey as I get the flingza to four stars and learn that I have no idea what I am doing.

Vanilla Flingza was a very fun weapon to me at the beginning of the game but then I realized that the kit did not want me to use it and then I left it in favor of Vroller, Dynamo and some blasters. However the new kit did make me enjoy flingza again as enabling it to be more aggressive and almost legit shark for free (and bomb spam.)

If I ever get the craving again I guess I should give it a go. Maybe I'll finally wear ninja squid for once 😂.

I personally think missiles work well for Flingza tbh. You can use the location to run in on a nearby enemy and then fight with the missiles for an easier kill, since the opponent won’t be incentivized to come toward you and the missiles will have a chance to throw off their positioning/force them to take some damage that’ll make a kill easier to come by. Ink Mine also helps secure choke points/points of interest, though suction bomb is a lot better
The Foil kit is more fun but I kinda dislike screen which is why I’m vouching for the vanilla. Plus, both species have a cooldown, so
Yeah one of my viewers was trying to teach me that. If you can get it down, it's definitely a lot of fun.

6:40 all rollers do NOT playy the same at all, the most similar are the Roller and Carbon, both of them play sharking playstyles but have different ways to deal with opponents, Roller is one of the only few weapons in the game that actually has good bubble synergy, using curling to set it up wherever in the map they want forcing the opponents to deal with it where entering the bubble is a death sentence. While carbon is similarly having negative value when taking too long to get a pick with how the class barely paints to balance sharking, it plays around combos that Roller can't and has good uptime if you have map control.
Dynamo is a complete departure, rather than a longer range roller, it's closer to a wide slosher and used as an AOE chip weapon that sticks with other weopons for clean up support, with how vulnerable the wind-up is, play around cover and awkward terrain to take advantage of the projectile.
Flingza, the vanilla kit atleast functions as a paint support that plays to live for special, mostly using Verticals to farm. It is a short range horizontal one-shot roller that can gain value during downtime with its good vertical paint and special, though its foil kit plays closer to the 1st two but with the added benefit of pretty good paint when there's no way to engage the enemy.
Swig is the very weird one in the class since it's rarely used in comp out of all of them with how the meta is right now, its flicks are the inverse of Flingza's with Horizontal for paint and vertical for damage, pretty long range too. Very dependent on teamates as a chip weapon, can be played as AOE but struggles with damage. It also has good ink-efficiency and speed so when rolling so when committed to a flick and theres bombs everywhere you can roll away from them.
Hope this helps you see rollers in a different light than just the sharking class. Even sharking has an intrecate balance, though trigger discipline is important to short-range rollers, the longer you shark the less value you have on the team if you can't get a pick so you reposition a lot.
It rewards on the moment decision making, when to engage or disengage, frontline rollers love ther Quick Superjump.
Damn you should be writing the video😂. In the end they're just not my play style, I prefer to be the support so I'm always happy to see a roller on my team.
The way you talk about them though makes me want to try them all out.
i would like to add that the front line rollers (especially the carbon roller but also the splat roller) apply pressure by just being alive if they are sharking, while sharking for too long and not getting any picks makes you have less value, its better to be alive to apply pressure than being dead and the enemy knowing they don't have to deal with the roller anymore (ofc sitting in ink doing nothing for the team for the entire game isn't gonna help much)

I do want to get round to the stringer, but I'd probably have to take a more competitive look at them since they are so unique.

Ik Foil Flingza is meant to be a slayer, but I still have no clue what the vanilla is. I always considered it a support/slayer mix, because you can obviously slay with it but it focuses more on missiles farming and painting than the Foil
(I know I commented I mained H-3, but Flingza was actually my 2nd ever main, and I still play it to this day)
Yeah I couldn't get it too work, I felt pretty useless compared to other supports I play, but it's definitely still fun. People were teaching me to use tenta missiles aggressively though, so if you can get that down maybe it just works.
Thinking about it now, it seems really trap orientated.
imo dynamo is the most satisfying weapon in the game (if you can get a lot of splats with it)
I did play it for a little while late into making the video and I did start to pop off, just really don't know how to optimally play it.

As someone that 4 starred EVERY. SINGLE. ROLLER, when none of them except for maybe the Flingza are close to my favorite (they are Tri-Stringer and Splattershot Pro btw), about TIME you figured out Flingza is goated and fun to play. Still disliked the video though and you deserved not 4 starring Flingza right there.
I think if I just play the rollers every now and then I might have more fun with it, when you force the grind on yourself you can lose something.

@tome7295 Oh no, the video was fantastic, well edited, and put together. But your take is awful. Rollers are both fun and a lot more intricate than just "you just shark and that's about it." Sure, the class plays very similar in all its variances, but all Rollers have a little something you will always have better than others. Carbon kills in less frames, Flingza's wind up can give you a lot more options than you think, on top of its excellent paint. Big Swig has excellent paint and mobility for what it does and it has the vertical flicks I WISH Carbon had. That's why I disliked the video. The class has a lot of fun variants I liked since 1 and JUST Flingza being called the only Fun Roller feels like a massive disservice to my favorite class in the series.
@@silverstar6589 Thanks. But yeah I'm always looking for other peoples opinions and obviously this video might have been better if I got this sort of view beforehand. Just being new to rollers leaves me with a lack of perspective, but all these comments have helped me understand a bit better and given me the urge to try the others. And the title is just bait, I know people enjoy all the other rollers especially the carbon, what's fun is always just one person's opinion.
Is there going to be a Splatoon 4? We don’t need another one. Splatoon 3 is good enough for me
To be honest I feel the same, I'm really getting into this one, and would rather them sit on it for a good few years.
Don’t forget about the story mode fans who will want another campaign. They’re also announcing the next console before March so we’ll need a Splatoon 4 for the new hardware
Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if we got splatoon 4 not long after the next console releases. But a longer wait could mean we get a better campaign. Get those creative juices flowing you know. I also just want them to add a load of content to side order.
ngl I would want a splatoon 4 if they improved kit quality and ditched there current map philosophy but the meta is pretty fun and diverse rn except for a few stinkers
Yeah despite all that, this is the game I've had the most fun with.
