    Hey friends, here's a UI design trend that's becoming more and more popular for a while now. I called it Claymorphism, because of the semi-3d clay-like models and objects.
    I like exploring new UI design trends, and so far created Neumorphism, Glassmorphism, Aurora UI and others.
    Claymorphism is likely going to be one of the main UI Design Trends for 2022, among some others we'll discuss in a later video. For now, let's jump into the 3d world with beautiful artwork and matching user interfaces.
    You can use our CSS tool at claymorphism.com
    And check out my Courses and books at hype4.academy
    Thank you!

    I felt quite surprised with growing popularity of childish like design styles! As a psychologist I would love to discover why it is so? Concidering it as an effect of stress related to global pandamic is an interesting trope. I wonder if in that button related research you mentioned you saw any correlation between age of respondents and their preferances?

    • @MalewiczHype
      @MalewiczHype  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The age was quite distributed (from 19 to 45) but I don't remember any particular age correlation. But this is definitely something to explore!

      Could it simply be that it’s so different from what’s gone before that makes it very appealing visually? It’s almost lifelike which is totally cool even though I know it’s actually one dimensional.

    It just makes sense! I feel like it's just easier for the users to have an interface that feels tangible yet also is subtle enough for sustainable exposure. And for the AR/VR part I don't have a study based opinion to predict it at all accurately. All I know is Unreal Engine techs have made a massive leap towards AI processing for 3D tris, so it could be easy to migrate to AR/VR soon enough hopefully :)

    • @MalewiczHype
      @MalewiczHype  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I think it can work in some friendly, consumer facing products.
      And for AR/VR it may be the processing power of standalone goggles/glasses (at the moment), but it may also be the fact that we don't want 100% immersion as we have no data on how it'd affect humans.

    Interesting new style and i feel a lot of gamification. Is this new style-aspect pushed by the emerging metaverse and the will to follow his style flow? Will it be used only for Oculus VR or for all the devices? Are we going to seen an exagerate use of it? I m so curious and sad to not be able to see the future! :)

    • @MalewiczHype
      @MalewiczHype  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think it's partially coming from the fact that current VR/AR doesn't have the processing power for more realistic graphics, so it kind of lead to this - but it spread to standard, App ui design as well.

    Claymorphism is very playful and interesting to see but how does it handle various button and card states like hover, active, pressed?
    I have not seen a good example of claymorphism in UI yet, other than conceptual designs.

    • @MalewiczHype
      @MalewiczHype  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's in a conceptual phase outside of art (nfts) but parts of it are being added to other styles (like "fluffy buttons")

    (Serious) > (Childish) when it comes to my layout preferences. Unless childish is the the project's aim (candy shop, kids stuff etc.). Though VERY interesting to learn that this opinion is not shared by the overall (damn fluffy loving) public.

    • @MalewiczHype
      @MalewiczHype  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think it may be due to the fact that we had that "serious UI" pushed upon us quite strongly for years and people like change - it may not be about the fluffy 3d in itself, but rather the fact that it's different.

    • @yury3548
      @yury3548 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Well, it's because this research was done just for fun. If you show people two isolated buttons, they would prefer something that feels more like an illustration. This is not the same experience as if they test an actual UI in both styles during some time.

    • @MalewiczHype
      @MalewiczHype  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      5000 participant study, buttons were inside an app. A/B test. Clay got 70/30 preference roughly.

    • @yury3548
      @yury3548 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MalewiczHype what "preferable" means to us? I would agree that this button is better if the results were conversion rate growth by at least a couple %.
      But anyway, from this study, we can't conclude that "clay" UIs bring better UX or at least somehow affect user metrics.

    @yury3548 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Oh, now I'm starting to get it. Let me introduce the next trend - shitmorphism. Its elements can be soft, solid, or even kinda watery. Because of its versatility in forms and shapes, it fits both Dribbble and Behance. Though be careful using it in real projects. Users are not ready for shitmorphism yet.

    • @MalewiczHype
      @MalewiczHype  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes, Aqua was ahead of its time and I'm a bit sad it got dialed back with each Mac OS release. My goal with these styles is to identify + document so it's easier to research them more. I'm not saying it's going to be a dominant style, just one of many and to me it is quite interesting :)

    This is a terrible design. I am sure some will not agree, but the best way I could describe it was exactly what even you used to desribe it..childish design. Neomorphic design is beautiful and not even remotely boring.
