Music shouldn't be gatekept. If I were a musician, I'd want people of all walks of life to enjoy it. Music should bring people together, not drive certain people away just because one culture of people dominates that genre.
Something I'm sure would piss Charlemagne off to no end if I said it to him is that I can't remember having even heard of him before this video, but I have heard of Post Malone. Also, I think it's kinda ironic that Charlemagne is accusing Post Malone of cultural appropriation, considering that he's copied the name of a famous European monarch.
I just find it funny a guy stuck in a bubble gossiping about guys like Post Malone talks about the genre Post is in the history books of. At least in the streaming era Post have the most streamed song in the genre and another song in the top ten.
This situation was so petty, personally I love Charlamagne, I think he's a great interviewer and REALLY funny, he has no filter and I love it. But here he was a complete ass, doubling down on it for so long IS a very Charlamagne thing to do but that's still not an excuse for it. I'm glad that he at least finally admitted he was wrong for it years later, but it made me lose a lot of respect towards him regardless
Why it look like this guy try to gate kept hip hop to be only black people to perform it? Doesn't music is universal language that can make all people enjoy thing together even they don't understand the spoke language.
