I actually expected something spooky to happen, like Knuckles.exe to show up or Sonic to start glitching out. But turns out it was just a fun video playing through a spooky mod, and thats just fine because it was great!

I've always questioned why tails is the only 1 in team sonic that changes color
Sonic and knuckles do to,their fur color change slightly darker. Its just hard to notice.

Maybe it’s supposed To symbolize tails loss of purity and innocence. The darker colors on knuckles & sonic likely symbolize The loss of their moral code that made them still innocent.
