I’ve meet him multiple times while he watched his opening bands and he was the most down to earth dude. You will be missed brother. You were the biggest inspiration to me.
This is an absolutely terrible loss for music scene and a lot of people. I'm completely devastated and I can't believe this has happened. His music has been with me for almost ten years. Through all these years, this man guided and inspired me, he saved my life with his music and led me through the years of depression to the exit. I don't want to believe that he doesn't exist. I'm going to miss him terribly.
Effing gutted. Luis was hands down the most talented artist of the past decade and a half. Always on point, pushing himself creatively and spiritually. Very down to earth and full of infectious creative enthusiasm. Goddamn it. Luis and Juan were literally the fuel that kept the dark underground music scene alive. This is a blow that will take many of us a long time to recover from.
So sad hearing Luis passed away. Loved his work so much. The Soft Moon became one of my favorite bands ever. His memory will be perpetuated through his music.
Never got to see or meet you, but your music has been a big soundtrack to my life over the years. Your impact can not be undervalued, and I’m appreciative of every note. RIP
You saved my life Luis just like many other lives. Your talent and your personality were truly outstanding. Every time I met you after your shows you always were so amazingly friendly and humble and funny and just incredible to be around. Talking to you was so easy like talking to a long time friend. Experiencing your shows and meeting you after are among my best memories ever. It's a loss too huge to process, I still can't believe you're gone. Your music will live on. Love you forever Luis, miss you forever.
It is such a waste that a person like that is gone from both this world and the music world. I am listening and watching interviews and I totally relate to everything he said about getting into music, about dealing with trauma and about the way he saw everything and wanted to resolve things. No matter how dark the lyrics, how anxious and claustrophobic the sound, there was always a positive intention, hope.. such a waste. I can’t believe Luis Vasquez is gone. May your soul rest in peace, in music, you were unforgettable. 🖤
A true artist in every sense of the term. It made the world a little brighter for me looking forward to each Soft Moon record release. Luis will be severely missed- thank you for the music
Soft Moon/Vasquez had a huge impact on my musical tastes when I discovered his projects back in 2017 or so, immense loss to the modern music landscape. RIP.
I am so upset about the loss of this truly creative and expressive individual. The scene has been a little over saturated with copy cats and carbon copies with the same old tired sounds, but Luis was unique and in category all his own. His contributions to the industry are incalculable and he will truly be missed.
The world lost a beautiful soul way too soon. You were the voice of deeply empathic and voiceless people all over the world. Your gift of crushingly beautiful, painful, heartbreaking music will always be a treasured gift to those of us that feel deeply in a way many can't comprehend. May you rest in peace. Much love and hopefully you're in a better place now.
RIP 💔💔

I had the opportunity to meet this talented guy in Latvia when the Soft Moon was concerting at the naba club,It was a strong performance full of energies, Luis was super wonderful. Thank you Lui for your music! RIP😥

Rest in Peace - Luis ... I'm crushed. I don't think I've missed one of his Los Angeles shows since about 2012, and he was still my top Spotify artist in 2023. Devastated that I'll never see him perform again. It's and end of an era 🖤
Luis knows what everyone seems to want, but the overhead turning camera shots are just perfect for The Soft Moon. Everyone in Turin, Italy are probably beyond ecstatic right now, but they're so well behaved; whereas, if this concert were in Los Angeles, poor Luis would have been carried off-stage by the fans.
Gracias The Soft Moon!
In 2011 in Caracas I played in a post punk revival band and I remember discovering The Soft Moon at the same time that we were making the same music with the same influences and the same spirit, over time we realized that in some way we were part of something bigger that was happening in music and we were aware of it, Luis Vasquez was a great reference for us and a great influence for me for being a great musician of hispanic-caribbean descent... unfortunately the band did not follow through of the economic collapse of Venezuela due to the dictatorship of Nicolás Maduro but I have great memories of those times and The Soft Moon will always be part of that moment I will remember with great affection 😢
As a teenager, I was always looking for a new band whose music would sync with my alienation. In a suspended state. And this guy Luis appeared on the music scene when it was needed the most. Like a breath of fresh air in the stifling darkness. I listened to TSM in 2010 and felt something that probably only young people experienced in the 80s at the peak of darkwave. A feeling of rebellion and triumph. It's a wonderful feeling that someone understood me and I hear it through his music. Something truly sincere has came to modern music. Then I found another band - Beach Fossils. On the same label - captured tracks. These two groups really supported me and I continued to follow their progress all this time. But now the TSM story has stopped. Too early. Louis' music will always be with me, it's simply unrealistic to lose it. I remember dancing in the dark to Deeper, until I sweat! Criminal scared me with its frankness. Such power, so much life in his music. Just thank you, The Soft Moon. Don't get lost, Luis. Perform forever.
I had just found out about you this man and his amazing music way before discovering that he had died and now it just pains me that he'll never be around anymore or see what else he could do or accomplish. Condolences to his family mainly.
I saw The Soft Moon at the Disorder fest in Mexico, with just a handful of people, one of the best experiences of my life, I wish I could repeat it just one more time.
The Soft Moon одна из моих самых любимых групп вместе c Nine Inch Nails, A Place To Bury Strangers и Unwound (басист которых тоже уже покинул наш мир). No one touching The Soft Moon. One of our last heroes for the darkwave industrial sound.
