An interesting interview. I have really enjoyed it up to the point where the professor introduces his daughters, Lili, Linda and Lucy. Well, my understanding is that his becoming a historian was an outcome of the fact that he lost his real name at youth. Yes, name is part of one's identity. As such, I wonder why he gave his daughters European names? Or they too were forced at school to change their names? At least Getahun is another African name. After all, the professor claimed to be pan-Ethiopian/Pan-African. Lili, Lucy and Linda doesn't sync with the term Pan Ethiopian/African. One of those things that makes me go hmmmm.
