UKC Rowrah - Final Onboard (P8 to P2) Senior X30

- Ride onboard with me for my first taste of the Ultimate Karting Championship at Rowrah last weekend as practice ahead of the MSA British Kart Championship later on in the year.
This is the final of that race weekend, in which we were very fast despite there being lots of grip on track, a problem I previously struggled with. This being very apparent in the final by setting the fastest lap of the race.
Starting from P8 in this race due to a large mistake on my behalf in the pre-final made it hard work on such a narrow and close quarters track with such a competitive sharp end of the field, but chose my overtakes wisely to get to P2. Had I started further up I feel I would have put up a great fight for the win. Regardless, very happy with the result and looking forward to next time.

Question - what’s on the bottom left corner of your mychron? Looks like a magnifier or similar?
@@mikecoppin26 that’s just a gap where no blue tape is so I can see the engine temperature in case if there is an issue
Ah I see! Hadn’t seen it before - had Mychrons on our ProKart but never seen that.

@@engared I am apart of Dan Holland Racing (DHR) and we use the EOS kart, a brand of Tonykart in blue to suit our colour scheme. It was previously the FA kart (Fernando Alonso’s kart company) yet has been rebranded.

I used to be awful with looking a lap times and it effecting my mentality during the race. If I saw the lap time wasn’t there I wouldn’t try. Now I can just push 100% of the time. Well worth a go if you have a similar issue
Impressive driving in comparison to Steve, you're so smooth and precise on the wheel compared to him. You must have strong belief that the kart will just turn in at the speed you want, hit the apex and allow you to power out of the corner well too. The noise difference is very noticeable, in your braking and cornering compared to Steve as well. Keep helping him as you'll likely get thousands of followers yourself just being kind to him and also it will make the majority of his followers more interested in his channel too. Well done on your 2nd place.
Thankyou, although the shoutout was nice from him, I get my joy out of progressing in my own ability and helping out others out of passion for motorsport rather than numbers on a screen. It does take a lot of confidence and commitment to drive every lap like this but I’m sure Steve will get the hang of it with time, just needs to be patient.
@@ThomasFleming1 Of course YT is not the end game for racing drivers and that wasn't really my point. The only reason I mentioned it was that it might have other benefits that help you in your future racing. :) All the best

And yes Absolutely, it would just make you more vulnerable down the hill and there was still a slight chance to catch the leader with the speed we have.

@@vincentvega1893 just because their not big names like Danny keirhle(however you spell his name),Connor jupp and people like that doesn’t mean their not very talented. If you raced with the people on this grid,they would tear you to pieces. They’re incredibly talented so stop saying they’re not mate.

Karting is discount racing. I quit after I learned:
1. I just wasn’t that good.
2. Even with my income I couldn’t afford the discount.
