    OH MAN... Great interview. How did 50 minutes fly by that quickly (shh, I did watch it on 2x speed, so it was only 25 minutes, but still!). I LOVE Polycam, and I have been so impressed with their innovations and their developments, from the 360s to now GSplats... and I also LOVE the Explore feature on their app that lets you post your captures and view others, "heart" or Save your favourite ones, and even follow specific content creators. THAT is REALLY the start of the 3D-social media dream that was discussed in the interview.
    I'll also say that I thought Chris gave some REALLY inspirational advice about how to recover from failure and loss and disappointment, and trusting yourself to learn from it and to find the next thing. I am going through some challenges personally, and it really hit me the way he spoke about it.
    I also wanted to really give props to you two for bringing up the idea of using AI for filling in the missing details in a 3D generation. Chris mentioned about how a talented 3D artist would be able to make educated guesses to fill in the details, and you guys mentioned the importance of consistency in that process if AI were involved... these are the big questions about the future of 3D capture and AI. I loved hearing Chris's optimism about it happening. I really do think it's coming, and I'd love for Polycam to be a leader in that space.
    Really, really, really loved this interview. Would love to see more collaboration between Polycam and Bad Decisions Studio!

      Wow!! First of all can we appreciate the fact that you took not only the time to listen to the whole podcast but also to write this beautiful comment ❤️ you are amazing! Thank you truly for your support!
      As for Chris, we were just waiting eagerly to speak with him since we were curiously wondering how a company like polycam was created. Surely it couldn’t be easy right? Once you get to hear these origin stories, there are so many lessons that unfold! It’s honestly inspiring to hear how he went straight from a lay-off to starting polycam.
      As for polycam the platform itself, we love it! It’s the most user friendly app to just quickly scan anything and get it in blender for us. And what’s awesome is that they are constantly improving their services! Gaussians were great and of course reducing the floaters is revolutionary. But not sure if you saw their post after this podcast, but apparently they even increased their photogrammetry scan quality too … can’t wait to see what happens to the future of 3D 🤟🏼
      See u on the next podcast ❤️

    Wow! Lots of fun hearing about Chris’ journey as well as his thoughts about the future of 3D. Great podcast! I’m😮 thinking the best part of this is hearing how you both revel in the journey and recognize that the “bad decisions” are just blessings in disguise as long as you’re following your passion.
    (It also appears Faraz is the new “Ted Lasso” of Bad Decisions… the stash is lookin’ good my friend.) 🥸😎

      If everything was good then how would we all feel any sort of inspiration to keep pushing forward and improving and innovating?? We must experience the bad to see the good!

    Gaussian Splats are awesome, but the floaters really ruin it.

    It's sad that even though Chris feeds off the open source ecosystem, he doesn't give any clues as to how he got access to the less floaters

    • @badxstudio
      @badxstudio  ปีที่แล้ว

      To be fair we didn't ask that question about the specifics of the algorithm they are using to reduce floaters. We are probably bringing the CTO on the pod sometimes in the next few months, so that could be a topic of discussion!
