  • Old Faithful is located in Yellowstone’s Upper Geyser Basin in the southwest section of the park. The geyser-viewing area is the most accessible and visitor-friendly in the park with bench seating, a large parking lot and a beautiful visitor center that tracks the time, height and length of an eruption to predict the next eruption.
Old Faithful Inn, a rustic-style lodge with a log and wood shingle exterior, is adjacent to the world-famous Old Faithful Geyser. The original part of the Inn, known as the “Old House,” was completed in 1904 and is an icon of National Park Rustic architecture. This fantastic destination is also one of just a few hotels in the country to bear a listing as a National Historic Landmark. The immense lobby rises 76 feet and features a massive stone fireplace and a handcrafted clock made of copper, wood, and wrought iron. It is the most requested lodging facility in Yellowstone National Park, and guest accommodations include rooms with private and shared baths.
Morning Glory Pool, this spring is named for its shape that looks very much like the trumpet of the Morning Glory flower. When named, the color also matched the blue of the flower as well. However, its story illustrates the delicate nature of thermal features.
However, this beautiful pool has fallen victim to vandalism. People have thrown literally tons of coins, trash, rocks, and logs into the pool. Much of the debris subsequently became embedded in the sides and vent of the spring, affecting water circulation and accelerating the loss of thermal energy. Through the years Morning Glory's appearance has changed as its temperature dropped. Orange and yellow bacteria that formerly colored only the periphery of the spring now spread toward its center.
