    "Money" is a non-count noun, so you must use "little" or "a little" with it. On the other hand, "lemon" is a count noun, so you must use "few" or "a few" with it. There are no exceptions. :)

      You have to say
      With ( a ) means i have and this is enough for me.
      Without ( a ) means i have but this is not enough for me and i need more
      to reach the minimum level of need.

    this class is really helpful to those who have little confusion about it. although 'countable' and 'uncountable' some times creates confusion....

    I have a little understanding of english but your lesson is really very much informative and I wish you all the best. I have a small question in my mind, what is the reason of not usingh numbers for the count nouns instead of few or a few. When we have few things, it's easy to count them and reply currectly. I am awaiting clarification from Teacher's end. Pls chcek my text as well as I am learning english so it boost up my confidence. Thanks a lot.

  • @beltranodetal
    @beltranodetal 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I find the concept of "positive" and "negative" a bit misleading. The difference between "little" and "a little" shouldn't lie on the polarity of the situation, that is, whether the situation is positive or negative. It's rather a matter of quantity: "a little" implies a bigger quantity than "little". "There is a little confusion here" doesn't sound positive at all, whereas "I spent little money on these items" sounds quite positive!

    • @aroundyouaroundme
      @aroundyouaroundme 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It could be misleading but generally that seems like a valid point. Especially regarding the 'negative consonant' of "little" and "few". For me personally "a little/a few" and "little/few" have respectively "some" and "lack of" meanings.

    Many thanks for this lesson. What about this sentence.
    1:We have few problems with this factury. (In this case is positive )
    2:we have a few problems with this factury (negative ).
    Thanks in advance.

    • @shaddapforever
      @shaddapforever 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      few / little implies a quantity that is small but less than expected ( so sentence 1 says we thought we would have 7 problems but only have 3)
      a few / a little implies a quantity that is small but more than expected. ( so sentence 2 says we have 7 problems but we thought we would only have 3)
