We can't expect to understand everything God has done because logically, we aren't able to fit God (the one One who created the universe) into a box, so small as our minds. But Jesus, the Father, and the Holy Spirit are all one God. It's not polytheism. One way to think about it is like water... All water is H2O, but it can take 3 forms: liquid, solid, and gas. A book that could help explain it better is "I Don't Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist" It's a really good book for everyone. :)
