Հայ ժողովուրդը բոլոր ժամանակներում առանձնահատուկ վերաբերմունքի է արժանացրել իր սրբատեղերին՝ ձոնելով գովքեր, երգեր, որտեղ խտացված է մաքրամաքուր հավատքն առ Աստված և սրբատեղերի պաշտամունք։ Եվ հավատքը չի խարխլվել նույնիսկ այն ժամանակ, երբ ավերվել է որևէ վանք կամ սրբատեղի, պարզապես այնժամ երգերը դարձել են կորստի, ցավի և միևնույն ժամանակ անմար հավատքի երգեր։
Ս. Կարապետի վանքը գտնվում է Մուշ քաղաքից դեպի հյուսիս-արևմուտք` Քարքե կոչվող լեռան լանջին։ Նա ամենագեղեցիկն ու ամենաընդարձակն է եղել գավառական վանքերից։ Ս. Կարապետը միայն մի եկեղեցի կամ տաճար չէ, այլ մի քանի տաճարների ամբողջություն, որոնք կազմում են սրբավայրերի մի խումբ։Վանքը կառուցվել է 4-րդ դարում։ Ըստ ավանդության հիմնել է Գրիգոր Լուսավորիչը, և նրա մահից հետո նրա մարմինը ամվափվել է ս. Կարապետ կոչված մատուռի տակ:Ս. Կարապետի վանքից դեպի Մուշի դաշտը բացվում է մի գեղեցիկ տեսարան, հեռվում երևում են դաշտի եզրում ընկած լեռները և Տավրոսի շղթան։ Ս. Կարապետի վանքը Արևմտյան Հայաստանում համարվում էր ամենամեծ ու ամենանվիրական սրբավայրը։ Նա ոչ միայն Տարոն աշխարհի ամենանշանավոր վանքն էր, այլև ամբողջ հայությանը ծանոթ մեծագույն մենաստանը ս. Էջմիածնից հետո։ Նրա համբավն ու հռչակը դուրս էր եկել ազգային սահմաններից և դարձել նաև սրբավայր տեղացի և օտար ազգերի համար: Բացի այդ` մեր մատենագիրների մոտ կան հիշատակություններ, որ օտարազգի քրիստոնյաներ շատ հաճախ են ուխտի եկել ս. Կարապետի վանքը։
The Armenian People always had special attitude to its sanctuaries dedicating them prise songs where had concentrated the pure faith to God and to the worship of the sanctuaries. And the faith wasn't be shaken even when any monastery and sanctuary were destroyed, just the songs became about loss, pain and also songs about eternal faith.
St. Karapet Monastery is located northwest of Mush city on the slope of a mountain called Karke. It was the most beautiful and the most extensive of the provincial monasteries. St. Karapet is not just a church or a temple, but a series of temples that form a group of sanctuaries. The monastery was built in the 4th century. According to tradition, Grigor Lusavorich founded it, and after his death his body was buried under the chapel called St. Karapet. From the monastery of St. Karapet to the plain of Mush, opens a beautiful view and on the far side you can see the mountains at the edge of the plain and the Taurus chain. St. Karapet Monastery was considered to be the largest and most devoted sanctuary in Western Armenia. It was not only the most prominent monastery, but also the largest monastery known to all Armenians after St. Echmiadzin. Its fame had transcended national boundaries and had become a sanctuary for local and foreign nations. In addition, our bibliographies have references that foreign Christians have often made a pilgrimage to St. Karapet Monastery.
