  • A super quick repair of a Fisher & Paykel DE45F56E (4.5 kg) dryer. Turned to to be the start capacitor of the drum motor (OEM cap is 7 μF, 400V, although I used a 7 μF, 250V equivalent). Repair took maybe 30 minutes. Tools needed: Philips head screw driver or cordless drill (same but faster), pliers, multimeter with capacitance testing helps but is not critical, brain... This repair applies to ANY DRYER!!

    Well done, I just dug mine, same model as that, out of the shed, it had a few squeaks but was ok after a dose of silicone spray, also thanks for showing where the fluff filter was, I was buggered if I could find it lol.

    hi there, I have the same model but can't for the life of me find information online about where to locate the thermal fuse. any ideas??

    • @pescado99

      There are two, either side of the two heating elements, you can see them at 2 min 29 seconds.

    Got one of almost the same internals. Its problem is when it starts, the breaker trips off..

    • @pescado99
      @pescado99  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Try checking the two thermostats for continuity. They should be open circuit when cold - don't attempt this on a live powered circuit.

    Would this be the same issue if mine is struggling to spin? Heat and settings are working fine but if I put more than a few things into it I got to turn it on and off over and over again till it starts spinning. When it does eventually start spinning it works fine

    • @pescado99
      @pescado99  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @jennaswann-parkinson3299 Yes, it could certainly be this. Capacitors can drift away from their nominal values, meaning they will only get worse until the drum can't get going at all. If you're taking the back off, use some silicone spray on the rear bearing too as they get very dry.

    Many thanks. I believe this is what is wrong with mine. Do you know where I’d buy a new capacitor in sydney metro?

    • @pescado99
      @pescado99  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      eBay, just search for the specs noted in the video, or by dryer brand - they're pretty generic. Just make sure the voltage is higher than 250V AC. Capacitance value does not have to be exact, but should be within 10-15%

    Hi
    Can you tell me how to fix the centre drum as it doesn't stay in centre and it make a hell of a noise, I've tried to tightened it up but I think the nut turnes on the inside
    Cheers Bev
    Great video btw

      I've fixed a few of these and not had this issue. Suggest you Google 'fisher and paykel de45 exploded view' or 'fisher and paykel de45 noisy' or "fisher and paykel de45 bearing"etc. Check that the drive belt is wrapped evenly and try to rotate by hand to see if it is hitting the casing. They're only held on by one boss (hub), which obviously should be centred. Good luck.

    My dryer has a metal straw stuck in the drum. Trying to figure out how to get it out

    • @pescado99
      @pescado99  ปีที่แล้ว

      Which part? Rattling around on the inside, or caught between the drum and the case? If it's the latter, use a large flat blade screw driver to flex the drum away from the case. If it's inside, you can access by removing the rear sheet cover by removing all the phillips head screws. Good luck

  • @NatJev

    i have just removed the part and labeled it where the white and blue cable come out of the dryer. when purchasing a new one how do i tell which cable goes where because its not exactly the same manufacturer

    • @pescado99
      @pescado99  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The whole intent of the video is to re-use the existing part, have you tried to adjust the existing lock per the video? Because it's part of an electro-magnetic switch, it could either be passive, or energised. If it's passive (just a switch), terminal connections are irrelevant. If it's active, it may be damaged from incorrect connection, but if active it will be low voltage, so all I'd suggest (if you want to use the new part) is try it an see. Also, get in touch with the part supplier and get them to confirm. Good luck.

    My dryer only works if you laod washing on one size . What could be wrong

    • @pescado99
      @pescado99  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What do you mean 'on one size'. The dryer should operate either empty or full. Not sure what yours is doing.
