Your information is very helpful. Very clear and one can make an informed decision. My question is if you are a civil servant, do I have to resign from the Department or I resign fron GEPF only. How much time should I give for Notice
@Tobeka, you would resign from both. Ideally you want to serve your notice that allows you time to plan ahead and avoid delays with payment. It will depend on your personal circumstances, two pot, your birthday bonus and other factors
I will like to meet you in future for proper exit so that you can be able to assist with proper pension restructuring . I am of the view of resigning so that i can be able to reduce tax against my 1/3. 2/3 should be invested in approved fund.
@mochela, you can save a fortune in taxes with the right advice and guidance. There are many testimonials on this channel showing proof of this. You can book a consult here: www.retirevsresign.co.za/consult/
Thanks for the info have a question on the gepf funds wen you resign from government after 10 years of service and going to work for private sector how to best utilise the gepf funds also being mindful of taxes,
@rudzanitshitamba1859 lots of options to consider here. The private company could allow you the option to live your GEPF funds in. You could also leave funds in GEPF or even transfer to an approved fund. There options will depend on your specific situation
Hi Dhevan, I came across your channel few hours ago, boy did it wake me up to go and seek more info, not sure how old this video is. But explain to me this thing, of no longer receiving the cash lumpsum as we apperently outlive our monies. So the government will give us only 4% of retirement fund first year of retirement and then an inflation rate percentage of lump sum per annum of gepf fund. Meaning not only your tax fres amount doesn't exceed R25000.00 but from 26K to 660K you will be taxed 18% and so it goes, as soon as the 1st of September 2024 hits. Worse the page told me page no longer available as I take screen shots to show to my friends on whatsapp 😮😢
Hi Dhevan thanks for these informative videos. I did not know about this option that you explained in this video and would like to get in contact with you regarding it. I am 56 years and have 17 years employment. My question is should I go for retirement before the two pot system or wait until I am 60, of which I prefer, and then go for retirement. Which option do you think will be more beneficial to me and my family other than the option in your video.
@John, I’m hosting an online Retire vs Resign Masterclass early Jan. This will help give you the clarity you need, including the two pot system. The Masterclass is currently free. However spaces are limited. Email retirewell@retiresa.co.za to enquire on booking a space.
Hi, thnks for a good video, my query is if u resign n transfer to an approved fund, do u have to take the one third out in cash, n be subject to the tax cost… ( before age 55)
@reshmi, if you structure this well, you don’t need to take out the funds. You can wait to access after you turn 55. This will ensure you have a larger tax free amount.
@boniwesauli, it’s an important factor to consider. Review the testimonials on this channel to see how members who resign are addressing medical aid and putting themselves in a better position
Dont know why you used the retirement table while talking about resignation. Your videos are very informative but you keep jumping around between retirement and resignation. Rather be more structured.
@aqeel, the retirement tax table is what SARS uses when a GEPF member is 55 or older and resigning. Keep in mind that although a member is resigning, they are still liable for tax as per SARS retirement tax tables.
Actually in his previous video he explained its R2500 tax free and thereafter 18%-36 & some 200K added if more than a million. Besides that, that R25000 the only amount you receive cash from government as from 1st of September 2024, no more lump sums unfortunately, the government passed a law that says you get 4% of your gepf funds per annum I assume against whatever you have on your gepf and there after an inflation rate withdrawal so that your money can pay your pension over 30years and the government is not paying sassa to people who saved for gepf or uif in their time of labor, because we outlive our gepf and uif monies, ja nhe...
@Althea, it depends on the type of account. The problem is if you make a mistake, this particular tax cannot be recovered. Don’t share your personal info on this platform. Email retirewell@retiresa.co.za if you need help with tax
Thank you so much Dhevan for the informative video.

@kutalabam, are you young or older than 55?
@@DhevanNaicker younger unfortunately
@kutalabam, tax saving opportunities are better from age 55 onwards

@Marcel, the entire proceeds must be moved to the approved fund. You can access funds thereafter
Thank you
What will happen after September of the implementation of 2 pots. Will members be able to resign?
@Bafedile, members will still be able to resign however based on how GEPF adjusts their formulas, members could have lower values.

@gerald, with the right planning, you shouldn’t have any penalties
Is it better to retire early or resign
@Cherry, it depends on your specific situation. Have you watched the Retire vs Resign Masterclass?

You loose benefits when you resign the portion the employer was contributing to you and the medical aid because when you resign you take everything

I didn't see you minus the first 500 000 from tax
@nomalanga, if you follow the tax tables, SARS has already factored the tax free amount
Dont know why you used the retirement table while talking about resignation.
Your videos are very informative but you keep jumping around between retirement and resignation.

@aqeel, the retirement tax table is what SARS uses when a GEPF member is 55 or older and resigning.

My estimated was R92K and I got R69K Is it the right amount I suppose to be getting?
@spicefaith, is this for retirement or resignation?
Also, is this your gratuity or monthly income?
It is a resignation and my gratuity
@spicefaith7419 Did you cash out all your funds or transfer to an approved fund?
R550 000 tax free and not R500 000.
@isiah, updated video can be found in the channel

@Gladys, you can choose your exit age because you are in control. Once you settle in when you want to leave, start planning at least 1 year ahead
