I'd also like to say I really enjoyed seeing you all on the history channel this summer. It motivated me to keep up with my stength training . I look up to you strongmen and it inspired me to stay in shape .

I don't care how much Obie makes; I've always just wondered how these kinds of athletes support themselves. Whether it be sponsorship, advertisement, or what have you. I wonder the same about Olympic athletes as well.

Blake Coates i think that Thor is the only strongman who makes good money, he stars in shows like Game Of Thrown's, has a bunch of sponsors, sell merchandise, and gets money for winning contests.
Olympic athletes don't get paid. Technically they're "amateur" athletes in the sense that they don't get paid to play. Much like a college athlete. What they get instead is a cash reward for getting medals and money from sponsorships. The majority of athletes competing don't receive any money at all. Only the the ones who are successful and famous.
***** It depends. China for instance has base salaries that rises with wins and popularity.
***** Of course they get paid. They would not be able to be so good if they did not get any money. Sponsors and aid from the land they are from. I hav had the privilige of training with one who swam OS 2012 and she wass living on the regular payment she got

He goes off on that dude asking about how he gets paid but to be honest he didnt ask how MUCH he gets paid. He asked HOW he gets paid. Obviously he gets money from competing and winning strongman comps but what other avenues bring in money as well is what i think the question was meant to be.

@@iii-ei5cv No, he said 'how THESE guys get paid'. It wasn't personal, it was a simple and very reasonable question about a fucken profession. Obviously theres not a ton of money in strongman competitions themselves and only probably the top 3 competition get a fraction of what's in it as prize money. That leaves the vast majority of them eating a month's rent worth of food every single day plus doctor tests from being 400lbs plus actual rent and life. I would have loved to know the same thing but now I kinda just want to ask him what his monthly salary is and what tax bracket he's in. There's really no need for him to be a dick about it.

I don't care how much, but doe he like win competitions or live off donations? If he lives off donations, I'd like to donate for sure and that's just because I love the strongman competition. I watch it every year.

He can earn money from personal training and product endorsements. I am sure there are a lot of puny people who would be happy to pay him 50 dollars an hour so he can train them to become bigger and stronger.
