I must dig out my ‘Ken Oliver color bursts’, they are great fun to use. You’re right, we forget about them! Our craft rooms are like Aladdin’s Cave. 🙈😆
I think you still could get away with less colour powder. Like you the different pigments making up a colour amaze me. Your flip idea with stencil is a winner. Thanks for your inspiration
Love the experimentation, thanks for the video. A couple tips for this technique: Regular mica powder does not have a binder, so it can wipe off the paper, but perfect pearls includes a binder. I use a little blending gel for acrylics or plain glycerin in my water mister and it seems to add enough to make powders without binder stick to the paper.
I LOVE mica powders! Like the sieve idea 🙂(use it all the time in the kitchen) will have to give it a try in the card room - maybe in the glass studio too 😲🤣. I bought some little spray bottles. Put a good 1/4" of any color mica powder in the bottom. Filled 3/4 full of water. Shake it up WELL & spray. I use it to gently spray over top of cards. Gives a soft "sparkle" of color & iridescence etc . Some colors are better than others. Some colors more potent, some more subtle etc. The experimenting is FUN :) Can gently spray with fine hair spray to seal - I usually don't -but you can. Enjoy the joy of just being creative.
Hi Christine, I love all your cards! I am a cardmaker for 25 years and a collector. However you won 😆 in having the biggest collection of tools and materials. Some of those are old and I have the same and I can see which stamps are from Europe and which are from America. That is fun. I am a German living in Canada and I have the adventage of both different tools to use. Thank you for everything 🙋♀
I was playing with Brushos a few weeks ago & picked up the wrong spritzer bottle...it was the one which had Perfect Pearls dissolved in it. That gave a lovely shimmer effect, but was a little unexpected. I think it might be easier than sieving on the mica powder. All of your cards are beautiful BTW.
I have done this too, the spray is more diffused this way and you can have just a tiny touch with using the powder directly... But either way is great!
I was actually going to suggest that rather than using plain water to spritz, add some mica powder to the water spray bottle. Maybe a bit easier than using the sieve and a better dispersal of the mica.
If you add mica to the water then the effect would be all over, whereas adding it separately it could be placed in specific areas, it depends what look you fancy I guess!
I'm going back and watching some of your videos you did before I subscribed. I LOVE this twofer idea! I've never heard of Brushos. Good thing as I have way too many pigment powders. I have to rein myself in as it just a bit ridiculous. Awesome backgrounds.
Here for my what is now my daily fix Chrissie! I've never had much luck with Brushos and generally end up with a 'mud pie'! You've inspired me to knuckle down and have another try with them. Great tips as usual. x
Thank you so much Christine, I really really enjoyed watching you playing with Novo powders and Brusho’s too. I really really love the result’s. I have Brusho’s and I really really love them but, it’s nice to a little bit shimmer too. So great idea. Please stay safe and well too xxx Mags
I’m quite new to your videos and I love your relaxed style. Your creativity is fabulous and is encouraging me to get products out of my stash that I haven’t used for years. Many thanks x
This a wonderful technique! I especially like the idea of using what I have instead of buying new. I will definitely give this a try. Thanks Christine for the helpful tips!
with the purple flower at 8:42... i am so curious to know what the 3rd print would look like if you had used paper instead of paper towel to press down the 2nd print. it looked so pretty on the back side of the stencil! i love those colors and the flower stencil. great choices. also the blue one at 10:20, my second favourite! lol thanks for showing all the ways to use these supplies... happy crafting,
@@Chrissieannie Definitely worth trying it to see if there's a difference. What about mixing the two powders together before adding to the paper ... another option. :) xx
I love using these techniques. One thing I do with the stencil 'print' is to leave it a little longer on the paper once I've dabbed off the excess water with the paper towel. I think it gives a slightly better impression because the pigments sink into the paper if you leave the stencil in place for a little bit longer. :)
Love watching you Experimenting😀 How about popping your Mica in an old Glitter Pot that has holes in it. Keep up the great experiments. 🏴🏴🏴💕
I love my Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powders. I’ve all the colours and had them years, a little goes a long way and there are loads of ways of using them. I’ve a few videos on my channel
Woah, Chrissie - some brilliant ideas in this video. The hinged stencils, the little sieve, the reverse stencil print. Simple ideas but so powerful. They free up creativity! I also have a collection of Perfect Pearls and pigment powders so I can see some play coming up. Thank you very much indeed!
@@Chrissieannie yes do! While you were doing the second piece using the mica powder I wondered that myself. I thought perhaps it might disappear under the Brusho pigments - especially in the more dense areas but you won't know without playing!
I really need to get busy and expand my horizons and dig out some of the stuff I have and never use. I have the Nuevo shimmer powders and a whole box of Brushos somewhere!
I really enjoy your videos. I have been stamping since my Mom got me started nearly 30 years ago and we have many of the same tastes. It is so nice to see an artist who uses all her supplies not just the latest and greatest trying to sell things lol. With that said..Which manufacturer made the dot Stencil that you used with the brushos. I think i need it. 😁
Thankyou for ALL the inspiration. I have alot of mica powders, perfect pearls and Brusho. What do you recommend for a good size card to make ahead and cut up later?
I use various sizes which can be cut from sheets of A4 the particular size and shape is dependent upon the subject or size of the main image or features. No hard and fast rules! 😊
These are gorgeous! I wonder if you used shimmer spray (I made some from another TH-camr’s video with loose eye shadow, water and hair spray I think) instead of plain water and then you wouldn’t have to add the mica. Also it would have the hair spray to make the mica stick. You’ve inspired me to give it a try! I do like your idea of using a sieve for the mica though, very clever of you! 💕
You know what?! And no I can't experiment at all at the moment. But when I see these it takes me back to making kool-aid as a kid. I really think we could get some of these "bursts" from doing the same with the various packets of flavors
I feel like I'm seeing fireworks as the particles spread or bloom through the water! I've often thought to try kool-aid powder 🤔 as I've seen the blooms on the counter when making it. But I no longer make it, with no kids in the house, and keep forgetting to try it.
Sorry to comment again, I love Brudhos too, and have a video scheduled to go up tomorrow on various ways to create backgrounds. Again, a little goes a long way and they last for years
I have done this too, I have several sprays that I have made with different coloured micas... They have a different effect as the mica is not so concentrated in specific spots but it's lovely too!

Fabulous inspiration! Love these ideas so I can use what I've already bought, in so many different ways.
That's great thanks ❤️
When the blue moved on it’s own, it reminded me of waves crashing. Gorgeous!
Thanks
What a brilliant idea, using the sieve! You have given me some ideas for using the mountain of mica powders!
Have fun!
You've inspired me to dig out my powders and stencils! I love the hinge method. And now I need to find the white powder and a fine sieve!

you persuaded me to try out my Brushos again...with a little mica and gum of arabic ....so fun...thank you
Excellent! Sounds like you had fun!😊😊😊
Thanks Chris great tutorial I will try --- beautiful cards
Really enjoyed seeing how you used the two different products. The results were stunning. Thank you for sharing.
The anniversary card is my favourite. Beautiful!!
Thanks so much 😊😊😊
Great idea to combine brushos with mica powders, Chrissie! I can see this making all my beautiful brushos colours into shimmer powders.
I was wondering whether using the mica first and then the Brusho might make a more interesting result.

I rather liked the look of the intense mica on top of the colour!
Where do you get such original ideas? I just love your videos!
I don’t really know where the ideas spring from, but I’m delighted that you like them!😊
Fabulous ideas with beautiful results. Your cards are always very elegant! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you 😍
What fun, I just purchased some magical powders. I love seeing the movement once they touch the water.
I have been recommended to try some Magicals, I think I may try some when I get back from my holiday!
Stunning cards and fab tutorial - thank you so much Christine xx
Love all your cards. Can you tell me what kind of cardstock you are using to make tout cards ? Seem so white !
My favourite is Silkweave linen from Syntego.co.uk. they ship worldwide! 😊💚💚💚
Thank you very much. Si kind. Have a good day. 😀
Another question: Do you take the same paper for your cards base?
I used the same card for the base, the panels, die-cuts etc.
Thank you very much. Have a nice day. 😀

I've done all sorts with mica, it's such fun!
Beautiful!
When I want to use a pearl mica I put it in the spray and spray the paper then add the pigment and then spray again this gives it a pearlescent look.
I wasn't looking for all over pearlescence, in this case. I have lots of mica sprays!😊

@@Chrissieannie I'm sorry i didn't know I'd already said something. I have covid and I hope that's a good enough excuse.

Really cool, I wonder what it would look like sprayed with alcohol, or mix the pigments with Alcoa and drop on.
There’s one way to find out! 🥰🥰🥰

To deter the card curling up, spray the backside with water before you spray the front side.

Brushy have a fairly new product called SprinkleIT which you can sprinkle on top of Brushos to add a little sparkle
