As a new RVer presented with some conflicting information on winterizing... this video calmed my nerves. We've just purchased a 38 foot Cougar 5th wheel. The manual and Keystone phone support told me to blow it out with max 30 PSI air and put in a gallon or so of anti-freeze through an external pump. It looks like this step is not necessary with the multiple drains and through attaching the anti-freeze to the on board water pump?? And my HWT is the same as shown in this video. Didn't quite understand how the one valve system would work without at least one check valve though (in the short piece of hot water line from the tank to the bypass tee), because otherwise the tank would fill back up from the top side. But I'll assume that the single valve is all that's needed to bypass. Thanks so much for putting this video together!!!!!

The Keystone Cougar 21RBSWE has the hot water heater on the entrance side. Access to the valve is via a panel in the compartment above the breaker panel just inside the door ( back right ).

Jeff, great TH-cam video. I have the 2015 cougar RV. I have 2questions regarding the hotwater bypass and check valves.
    1) After you winterize why do you return the hot water bypass valve into service mode and then back into bypass mode when you dewinterize. Why not keep in bypass mode all winter?
    2) When you put into bypass mode is there water trapped between the bypass and cold/hot water check that may freeze?? Especially between the cold water line?
    Thank you Jeff !!

What about the plug on the fresh water tank? You didn't put that back on.

I have no fresh water tank drain and no caps on my service lines ??? ,

Why not just use air to blow the lines out? The idea of trying to flush out the antifreeze in the spring sounds like a pain in the ass.

I always thought antifreeze was poisonous.

Antifreeze/coolant for use in vehicles is poisonous. Plumbing antifreeze like used in cottages, RVs, ect is generally non-toxic.

Just fill it with hard liquor.
