Orthographic projection The word orthographic came from a Greek word, “orthos” and “graphos” which means Straight line drawing. It is commonly used system of representing the true shape of any object arranged on a plane in two or more views at right angle to each other. These are the guidelines in constructing an orthographic drawing; Draw a vertical and horizontal line crossing each other at the middle of your paper to for four quadrants. Call this lines vertical and horizontal axis. Place the different views in this quadrants. Place the top view at the upper left quadrant, the front view at the lower front quadrant, and the right side or end view at the lower right quadrant. Align the views vertically (top view and front view) and horizontally, (front view and side view). The length of the top view is the same as the front view. The height of the front view is the same as the side or end view. The width of the side view is the same as the top view. The nearest edge of the drawing to the vertical and horizontal axes should be at least one half inch. Place the dimension lines between views. Transfer parts or lines from one view to the other views using projection lines. Write “ top view” above the top view drawing; “front view “ below the front view drawing and “side view “ below the side view drawing. how to do?
