I like how you get both the wide and the portrait tele shots for the details, wow
Very cool stuff! Thank you for posting!
Nice idea ! Accsoon has come out with a monitor solution recently for us IPhone users. Resolution wise the EOS M back screen isn’t that bad, it’s just the lack of brightnesss which makes it unusable in broad daylight. My workaround is using a loupe but it’s fiddly. The Feelworld F6 monitor I got makes it too bulky for this small of camera.
Sage info, just the ticket for a cheap bastard like me. Loved it! Cheers from Montreal QC
ohh you're using your phone as a monitor?! I was looking to buy a monitor for my canon Eos m... thats insane!!!
Excellent review!
I ended up getting the 35mm f1.7 thanks to you!! I think I'm going to try the 25mm f1.8 or f1.4 next and then 17mmm f1.4 I wanna try them all :D
Wow. I was looking for a lightweight, small camera that would give me a cinematic look while traveling - I found a canon eos m that can be hacked (magic lantern). and now i saw your video.. so i'm looking for lg v60 :) i'm going to sri lanka in two weeks :D this is what i was looking for. I love you man :D
very cool I see you using the Motion Cam App NICE you got a new sub #keepfilming
I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!
wait what... you're recording on your smart phone and Eos m? or just monitoring with the phone, I'm so intrigued !!!
Add to this setup the app "Sensor Record" + Gyroflow
thanks for all the info man. I'm stuck between the ttartisans 35mm or the canon 22mm. I feel like the 35mm produces a better image, but the 22mm seems a lot more practical based on how small it is.
Seems like both is the right call haha
Hi. Can you compare Canon EOS M (Magic Lautern) vs LG v60 (Motioncam Pro)? Photo & Video
If you're shooting wide on your phone at the same time shooting on your dlsr, that means you're not using your phone as a monitor anymore right? Or am I misunderstanding you? Also Flimic Pro and other phone apps that shoot 10-12bit Pro Res 4444 would work also or are you saying that the signal coming from your hacked Eos M displaying on your smart phone monitoring is being also recorded in 10 bit at the same time and its wider even if your punched in on your eos m?
do you switch back and forth between apps I'm confused
so you record on the phone the wide shot
then go into the monitor mode then shoot the Eos m
or do you film both at the same time?
Yeah just switch back and fourth
@@lumingate interesting 🧐
Wow, I have some old android phones, I'd like to try it as cheap monitor.
you may try accsoon seemo
yeah you're right my phone camera doesn't even have a telephoto camera... so the Eos m is the better choice, do you have any recommendations for a Tele Lens for the Eos m?
Budget options would be the ttartisans 50mm F1,2
@@lumingate that’s a wonderful lens
@@lumingate what about non budget ? Needing auto focus preferably IS but not needed u think I should go for that 32mm f1.4
Is it easy to install magic lantern in any eos m, because iam planning to buy eos m
Yeah you just install it through the memory card
What is the app you test as a monitor in Android
Usb camera pro
my question is, what scenario are you filming with smart phone, and what are you using with your Eos m?I bring both but sometimes I feel like they have their strengths
its pretty cool 1080p looks good with shallow depth of field
but in the phone with 4k.... and its a wide angle shot or even 28mm shot standard lens, you really can't tell the difference, I find the Eos m is great for the tele shots like 35-50mm or 85mm etc. with the f1.4 or f1.2 you can see the sharpness
my question is, how do you keep it so stable!!!!!!!!
Any thing wide angle is filmed on the phone and everything else on the eosm
@@lumingate wow 🤩
@@lumingate what do you use for ultra wide or is that also the v60 😍
🤔🤔Not working for me wolud be nice to see a step by step on how you got it to work but still a cool video 🤳🤳👍👍
What's not working for you?
@@lumingate plugging it into the phone nothing shows up. I'm using an HDMI out from the camera to an HDMI UB2 video capture card to a Samsung note 8.
@@lumingate I'm very familiar with the setup. I have done this before with an external monitor, but never with the cell phone. Nothing happens on screen.
@@patricklevar Have you downloaded the usb camera app?
@@lumingate which specific capture card is in this clip?
shockingly the dynamic range of the phone is better than the Eos m with blown highlights XD
No dude, that's just overexposed footage. The tiny half-inch sensor in any phone will never deliver better dynamic range than the APS-C, almost Super 35 format EOS M sensor.
@@Keyboardfanatiker actually thats my mistake you're right, it is overexposed. but the new ai in these phones with the HDR video, technically its not better dynamic range, but it definitely is more convenient to expose both the subject and the background sky on a whim. moreover, if you had more time, to expose for the background for example a blue sky, and then also have a light more powerful than the sun to light the subject, then yes 1 million times better on the Eos m super 35 sensor, but sometimes you need a quick shot while you're from a bus ride, and the phone creating the look through processing is "good enough" for family memories and clips like TikTok or something like that. but ya you're absolutely right. super ignorant comment on my part I should've added more context. I meant HDR video, it's no where near close but it looks impressive ! I'd say for someone who doesn't know anything about exposure, the phone HDR video makes it look like theres better dynamic range but its really just multiple videos stitched together kinda like a stacked HDR photo thats super impressive to me
@@LouisLuzukaOh yeah you can do some seriously impressive stuff with deep learning. Quite a while ago, 10 years I think, Nvidia and Pixar published a deep net which almost magically removes the inherent noise found in path-traced 3D renders to a totally clean image, which you could achieve otherwise albeit at very high rendering times per frame. Teaching neural networks certain relations can be very useful.
Although where the EOS M really shines compared to the small sensor is the low-light environment
@@Keyboardfanatiker wow thats incredible, I didn't think about it that way, you're right there is so much development that results in a totally clean image, it may not be a true image but if you get the right result why not, and how could I forget. you're absolutely right, the Eos m especially paired with the right lens, can destroy in low light. there is no phone or action camera or 360 ai camera out that can compete, they fall apart and crumble after 800iso that makes me want to use my Eos m more now, thank you so much!! (:
@@LouisLuzukaHaha, you have one nice! I'm about to receive mine tomorrow, ordered one last week from eBay. Love the red color.
I just don't get it, why use this eos m with its limmeted dr and horrible rolling shutter, when you proved quite clearly that a good modern cell phone outperforms the eos m.
The portrait mode on cell phones are also improving to the point of getting that shallow depth of field we all love.
