Well, as a Berliner, considering how cost and ressource intense the demolishing of the Palace and the re-building of the "Stadtschloss" in it's place, i'd say keep it, just as a "what-if" 😁
18:06 for some reason, seeing you delete this entire old factory broke my heart. It's something that happened very recently in my city. An old modernist industrial plant was demolished to make place for a new gentrified development: a "green" shopping mall with luxury apartments and a park, of course a place that only the wealthiest residents can afford to live in and that only the investors will profit from, built on the remains of what was once a place for the working people.
Not only broke my heart, it made me really MAD i can't understand factories and companies like that get removed. It should be „illegal" to do that to keep the countries industry going and most popular in national country
About the old government hq/(the poll), there are plenty of ideas to reuse it. As for its redesign, maybe som green roofs/walls, with public spaces on the roof (as the university library in Warsaw), it would be cool to see it in a light of a "nature based solutions" design, so it helps with heat island effect or harversting the rain water etc..., Maybe even adding more wood material on the facades. Looking forward to it :D
What's up man, Great Video. 27:40 Yeah I think that what you said is ok to do there, and could also add some modern aspects such as an square or a park, with some staues, etc; to create a little bit of a mix there, I think that'd be really cool.
I loved so much this episode. It’s so satisfying to see the evolution of the city and when there several projects in one video ! Also love the fact that you make us vote as if we were the citizens of altengrad. Can’t wait for the next episode (and for more referendums in the future)
In the very last shot of the video we can see two different types of tram tracks, some clean concrete ones and some worn out ones on the road at the right. I'm not sure if that's something you've done off camera to show a line that was taken out of service or something but it's cool to see anyway.
Thanks for the video. I love how i can see all you talk about in the city i live in. I also got a lot of inspiration for my own city, but for now my game crushes randomly so that will have to wait.
Are you gonna rework the stadium, isn't got a lot of update, maybe with 2000/2010 ( Euro 2012 in Poland, I know is altengrad is in generic east Europe, but still east Europe) a good update will make sense. Personally the stadium of a city is a pretty underrated project that can be fun and give personality to the city, mainly if you use custom stand and PO around them
Amazing stuff, as always. I particularly loved the rework of the rundown factory into a shopping mall, while keeping its elements intact. Sort of resembled me the restoration of Manufaktura in Łódź (maybe an inspiration for future episodes?) and Galeria Kazimierz in Krakow. Also hoping it gives a needed boost to this area which probably could use some more modern architecture. Maybe the stadium rework as well, as someone pointed out in one of the comments.
I would say people of Altengrad would like to renovate the existing building in a way so it would be very similar to the old one. It would be kind of like rebuilding but with respecting current situation. The Saski Pałac in Warsaw is kind of like this. It is meant to be rebuilt but on a different project so it would serve different puropuse. So I'm in for making this building look like the old palace.
Hey, I have a question a bit more on the technical side. How do you manage to keep the cobblestone pavement in older sections of the city, but new, concrete pavement in the newer developments? Do you switch it in theme mixer based on where you're recording/looking at?
Maybe an idea for a future project....a big park, of the style of the Silesian Park in Chorzow, next to Katowice in Poland...twice the size of NY's Central Park
I’m sure it’s have been too much work but I’d have loved to have had a short cinematic of the millennium (a la the WWII but shorter) to usher in the 2000s. Like little thing of fireworks or something. But it makes sense the late 99s and the millennium kinda blend together. Great video as always!!!
the area of google earth is surprisingly where my cousins live, its called kapostaszmegyer and there is a big department shopping area on the other side of the highway, we also have the 14 tram which runs every 10ish minutes max
Noticing and loving new vehicles, and especially the trams. And... uhhh.... 28:03 hey hey KT8D5 in the background. I remember asking about these when Alterngrad flipped to 90's but you said that you couldn't find a model that'd fit the city. So are these here just for a temporary testing of the visuals or are they gonna stay? (I'd love them to stay, I love these trams) There could be theoretical reasoning of how they appeared in the city even after ČKD got shut down. It could be similar story to the city of Miskolc which got them 2nd hand from the Most-Litvínov network in the late 90's The Alterngrad could do something similar, needing a replacement of their ageing trams from the 50's and not having enough funds to do mass order of more modern trams (which I have noticed some in the city as well, so I guess the city had some finances but not enough for a full fleet).
Since we are in the 2000's would love to see an upgrade to the football stadium or even a new stadium, because the old one would likely be falling apart by now :D
It will be good idea to make a renovation of old block of flats like it was in 90s in Poland. It was changed from grey blocks to bright coloured castle-things. Good example will be block from Wroclaw near Kwiska street. Also it will be fitting to make some sort of marketplace like it was at old Warsaw stadium. Wild capitalism was growing that time as well.
I'm really torn on the poll. On the one hand it's more accurate to demolish, but the government building is a great example of modernism and learning to work with the history attached to the building is probably a better solution than just demolishing it
Hi! Thx for the videos! I have a question: How can you "set" different map themes for one map? For example in one district the pavement is cobblestone and in the new ones is pavement. I don't find the mod. Thank youu
mfw the Palace is gonna stay because Altengrad's "population" makeup is like 80% Central European millennials, who are exactly the target audience of communist chic nostalgia
"whether garages make housing super expensive" Yes, it's garages and not 40% markup of the developer and people shorting the demand with forever vacant "investment properties". Definitely garages.
The poll th-cam.com/users/postUgkxH-cNNaCNwScU9ygjtnu5bvcQDH9_2jAd
Not an easy decision to make but I hope good comes of it
hi i want to ask where did you get all that roads cause i want them to download
I cant put into words how amazing it is to see altengrad change and evolve. The amount of work you put into this is insane
BABE!!! WAKE UP ALTENGRAD IS ON!!!!
Káposztásmegyer was originally planned as a metro+bus suburb. What you see is originally a metro right-of-way, but the M3 extension was never buildt.
This city is absolutely stunning. Not only does it look good, but it has lore, real life lore! I love it.
Well, as a Berliner, considering how cost and ressource intense the demolishing of the Palace and the re-building of the "Stadtschloss" in it's place, i'd say keep it, just as a "what-if" 😁
WAKE UP!!!!! NEW ALTENGRAD EPISODE JUST DROPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing better than coming back from school and seeing new Altengrad video.

I absoluteley love what they did in Berlin, it mixes the classic elements with some new ones which creates something really fascinating
The old Train Workshop at the main train station could turn into a great technology museum like the one in Berlin
What's up man, Great Video.

Altengrad is so realistick
Okay but if we keep it can we still turn it into a gallery? A contemporary art gallery could be really cool, maybe a sculpture garden on top!

2000s! I'm so excited

Love this series!
Bueno! Another episode of my favourite CS series on YT!

I was thinking the same thing. Plus the stadium would be falling apart by now considering the age of it
I really like the square around the government building
please never stop making these :)

love it, have been for long !

Getting to the these kinda times, Akuras.
Keep the building change the brown?copper glass to modernize it
Akruas you can use some kind of tram like: Stadlers or pesa's in future. i think it will be really good for city
Hey, I have a question a bit more on the technical side. How do you manage to keep the cobblestone pavement in older sections of the city, but new, concrete pavement in the newer developments? Do you switch it in theme mixer based on where you're recording/looking at?
Switching themes, yes.
@@Akruas Alright, thank you.
I sometimes think of Akuras as the mayor of Altengrad
Maybe an idea for a future project....a big park, of the style of the Silesian Park in Chorzow, next to Katowice in Poland...twice the size of NY's Central Park

Altengrad episode day is a great day by default
13:13 ghost car 😂
When are we expecting to see some high density apartments, offices and potential low height skyscrapers in Altengrad?
cycle paths are coming in this new era
KABATY MENTIONED LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOO
the area of google earth is surprisingly where my cousins live, its called kapostaszmegyer and there is a big department shopping area on the other side of the highway, we also have the 14 tram which runs every 10ish minutes max
very nice

I would keep that goverment building and re-use it for the museum/gallery
I agree, but it needs to be somehow modernized or some more modern part added.
Since we are in the 2000's would love to see an upgrade to the football stadium or even a new stadium, because the old one would likely be falling apart by now :D
honney awaken, it's the 2000's again!

BABE WAKE UP , YOU KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS
Alrighty, it's time for Y2K 🙌
What cars have you added to the traffic pool for the 2000s?
❤
I am clicking and writing!
I'm really torn on the poll. On the one hand it's more accurate to demolish, but the government building is a great example of modernism and learning to work with the history attached to the building is probably a better solution than just demolishing it
🎆 New series: *The 2000s* (is here!) 🎆
(Delayed a week ago)
i feel as if there are not enough outer town offices to accompany these new districts.
👍
Take it down!!!!
Hi! Thx for the videos! I have a question: How can you "set" different map themes for one map? For example in one district the pavement is cobblestone and in the new ones is pavement. I don't find the mod. Thank youu
I manually switch them between shots.
i think that the government hq needs a good old "euroremont", that lowkey makes it looks way worse. (please put lots of billboards on it too)
Why altengrad doesnt have a irport
How did you hide the revenue box?
Hide It mod
Perhaps a minor detail, but should there not be a bunch of cell towers in and around the city by now?
i'm waiting for metro in Altengrad😭😭😭
Do not tear down the modernist palace in the center, it will be valuable building in ~40-50 years :)
The city is missing a blimp
you will have to make an airport
mfw the Palace is gonna stay because Altengrad's "population" makeup is like 80% Central European millennials, who are exactly the target audience of communist chic nostalgia
Whose family has been the mayors
:)
Muhahahaga
I am so genuinely conflicted on what to do with the building 💀
"whether garages make housing super expensive"
Yes, it's garages and not 40% markup of the developer and people shorting the demand with forever vacant "investment properties". Definitely garages.
