I tested the ultimate spec in the UK 4 days ago. I ordered one as was very impressed .
The waiting time was estimated to be 2/3 weeks.
The dealership asked me to fill in a query about the salesman. Of course i told the truth, with extra positiveness, because he was good at his job.
Yesterday, i got a call from the salesman saying his bosses were congratulating him on his improving sales this month. Cool. He then informed me his friend in another branch across the country has the car in stock now! I pick it up on Monday..6 days after the test drive!
Be nice people and you wait less id say ?🎉? ! Happy days 👍

Have had the Kona premium hybrid for 2 months now and we are really happy with it. The camera resolution is amazing compared with our previous CX5. We do mostly around town driving and its very smooth and the fuel economy is great. When we go down the Gold Coast we get on average get 4.0lt per 100km with the long distance driving. That's decent for a medium size car. Only annoyances is the speed warning alerts. We have set up a short cut button to turn that off every time we drive as it always turns back on. I wish Hyundai Aus would do a software update to correct this issue, and allow the drivers of their cars to keep it off permanently if we prefer it that way. Only issue is when you turn it off you loose your speed sign recognition feature. We are still waiting for ‘as promised’ over the air multimedia update to get wireless Android auto and apple car play as its only available to cars delivered from November 2023 I read.

@@rivergladesgardenrailroad8834 we pre-ordered ours earlier in the year, when the petrol ones were just released on the road, subject to test drive when it arrived. Now I hear it’s about 6-9 month wait for a hybrid.

By all accounts an excellent Hybrid SUV that is great value for money with superb fuel economy but unfortunately the acceleration is a bit lackluster.
I hope they change the software so some of the safety features work better such as the traffic sign recognition feature with the ability to switch it off permanently as many testers have lamented this one flaw in an otherwise excellent Hybrid SUV is nearly a deal breaker. Excellent equipment levels for a base model with $40000 AU on road a fantastic price.

This is a good presentation by this guy but I cannot get my head around the looks. The slashes down the side, ‘blind’ front and ugly plastic wheel surrounds all contribute to a mish/mash of styles. The warning systems also appear to be intrusive.

Took a test drive & not only did it beep at me for being just over the speed limit (the speedo is always overstated anyways) but apparently because I was wearing sunglasses it couldn't detect my eyes & so beeped for 30 second telling me to have a cup of coffee. There's just no need for a car to be annoying like that - its distracting & ruined the drive. The other issue with the speedo is that its on the left hand side panel so I couldn't see my speed while driving with that hand on the wheel , I had to keep lifting up my wrist to see the speed which again added in with its full alarm warning for being 1km over was infuriating. I think that's a safety risk far greater than any benefit you get from multiple alarms constantly going off. I had a quick play with the menu on the steering wheel to see if I could get the speed in the middle panel so I could see it but again that just incurred the wrath of the internal annoyance system that beeped at me to keep my eyes on the road. Whoever designed the warning system is an evil sadist. They have to scale it back or at the very least make that completely regimented setting have to be turned on not the default.

A lot of hard plastics, plain interior and the gear lever is nothing new been in Mercedes Benz for years. Still a lot of money in my opinion even for base model.

Those calculations really kill the value proposition for the Hybrid over either the ordinary petrol or turbo models. $5k buys a lot of fuel (especially 91 RON) and the gap only widens if you do less than 15,000km a year (not to mention the loss of the extra power from the turbo, the AWD, and the likely smoother and more reliable regular torque converter auto).
1.6 Turbo N-Line (non-premium) is the pick of the bunch of this range, I reckon.

Rubbish! It’s totally Hyundai’s fault. They have poorly implemented the Euro regulations. The regulations don’t specify that the speed limit warning needs to be audible. Hyundai decided that. No other manufacturer has such intrusive warnings. Also, what don’t Hyundai have a simple button for turning it off or the ability to permanently mute the warnings? Very poor Hyundai. There’s no way I’d even consider a Hyundai/Kia until they fix the speed limit warning system.
