    Thanks for another great LFF.
    And yes, enjoy those pups while you have them. Anyone that says "money can't buy you love", never owned a dog.
    I especially liked seeing Strudel (sp?)...I love little grey faced pups and wow and 11yrs, he's active!!
    I lost my Bailey, a choc. tan and white cocker spaniel a few years back....I still smile when I think of the time we had together.
    My one regret is that I'd not gotten into photography really till very late in her life and I don't have nearly as many pictures of her as I would like.
    She was show dog quality and beautiful and I wish I had more quality wall hanging shots of her. I have really only 1 and it is 24"x36"...and I rub her nose every time I walk by it.
    :)
    Have a great weekend....thanks for the videos!
    CC

    Thanks for the inspiration. In my work I used to use x-ray film to visualize radiolabelled proteins and DNA sequences. I have a few boxes of really big sheets, should cut them up and try in my 4x5!

      @@MatMarrash Two almost full boxes of 8x10, I can cut sheets in half for my 4x5. But also a partial box of 13x17, expired 2004. Do you have a camera large enough, interested if I can ship not to expensively? Or will it get scanned and ruined in transit?

    Long live X-Ray film. Good stuff in the right light with the proper subjects. Even though the beloved Carestream Ektascan B/RA single-sided X-Ray film is now gone, ZZ Medical still has limited supplies of the Fuji UM-MA Mammography single-sided X-Ray Film. Scott Perry has examples of it on his Flickr stream. He exposes at EI 100, develops in HC-110 dilution H, 6:30 at 20C. Looks like a really nice alternative to the Ektascan. The stuff that ZZ Medical has in stock isn't 8x10 but rather 18x24cm so a little taping into a 8x10 holder (under weak red safelight) is required for most 8x10 shooters who don't own dedicated 18x24cm holders. They also have 24x30cm in limited quantities if someone would want to go through the additional step of cutting it down to 8x10". .

      @MatMarrash  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I never ended up working with the single sided x-ray film, but that has been one of the most popular to discuss on social media and forums. Even though so many medical practices have shifted to digital imaging, I'm super glad to see that it's still made and available in ULF sizes at experimentation prices!

    100 ISO speed X-Ray? That's impressive. I thought X-Ray are all as slow as the FPP stuff.

    • @MatMarrash
      @MatMarrash  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Between this full speed green and the FPP's half speed blue, that's about the range of available speeds in x-ray film. There used to be some specialty high speed green emulsions out there, but they still topped out around the ISO 200 mark.

      @@MatMarrash for an emulsion designed to handle a extreme amount of radiation, that's a surprisingly high sensitivity.

    What a rough day I had. Hiked two miles up the Sol Duc round trip easy. But forgot my shutter release cable. Shot 6 sheets of Tmax 100. And two sheets of can’t remember what it was. Thinking most likely Velvia 100 but could be portra 160. Loaded it weeks ago and well memory is not working so well anymore. 🙃

    • @MatMarrash
      @MatMarrash  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Terry thanks for telling me about your day. The upside is you only left the cable release and not the film! It's funny you mentioned Velvia 100 and Portra 160. When I mix-and-match with color emulsions, those are the two I'll use together. Last fall I had my holders loaded with one on each side. Even with proper labels I managed to bungle up a couple of shots. Have a great weekend man!

    • @terrywbreedlove
      @terrywbreedlove 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MatMarrash I exposed both sheets of color as if it as Velvia 100. Thinking it is more critical to get a good exposure with it. And the Portra loves a little extra exposure anyway. About to hit the darkroom and develop the B&W. I will pull the color sheets out and see what the notches tell me.

    Are you sure that was xray film? I thought we'd see Strudel's insides... Just Kidding! I didn't know that xray film could be so fast. ISO 125 is FP4+ range. I'll have to see about cutting some down to 5x7. Great episode! Before I forget, my daughter's dachshund Boston wanted to leave a bark-out to Strudel. Bossy's only 2 and hasn't learned to slow down to less than Mach 2 yet or I'd have a picture of him.

      Thanks for the comment Michael you should give it a spin! X-Ray is good cheap fun, regularly available in 8x10 and ULF sizes: www.cxsonline.com/products/x-ray-film-by-fuji/fuji-super-hr-u-ortho-green-film-1.html
      Boston?! What a great name for a dachshund! Strudel still likes to play like he's a pup, but needs to take a recoup day or two between mischief.

      Hey Gerardo, thanks for the comment! I recommend a rather dilute and low contrast developer. My go-to is Pyrocat HD 1:1:100, but have also had good success with HC 110 Dilution H, D96 1+3, and Technidol.

    mixing PYRO-cats and dogs ??- hope they don't see one another, what a mess!!; but glad your dogs are OK, as the title suggests they went to the VET, ie x-rays, they are normally used to discover broken bones!!

      When I first learned x-ray film didn't see through bones on its own, I was super disappointed. But when I found out it was halfway decent film made in 8x10 and up, I bought a boatload and never looked back!

      @@MatMarrash interesting film choice, have heard some people use it, but rate it at 1-5 iso/asa or so, as it is soo incensitive, but, I guess it is cheap film, as you probabbly do get a boatload from medical supply.
