@@pmatrisotto it's not rotten food! Most has not hit the expiration date, when they throw it away!!
If a truck is due, with a large order, they go through and throw out, what is on the shelves, just to make room for their order.
Obviously, you have not watched many of their videos. They have NEVER gotten sick from eating food, they rescued from the dumpster. As Frugal Daddy said, why don't they just set up a table with food that they plan to discard, to make room for a new order; and let customers take what they can use.
BTW, did you know, the only product mandated, by law, to have an expiration date on it? Baby food! All the other food, labelled with a "best by" date, is voluntary, and it makes people, like you, who live by expiration dates, throw perfectly good food away, based solely on a date on the package. It makes consumers feel like they need to go out and buy it again! Most food will let you know, by it's look and smell, if it's spoiled!! These food production companies make billions of dollars, off of individuals like you, who re-buy food, because a date on the PKG they had at home, told him it's not good to eat. What if food was stored in a freezer, and just brought out for family to enjoy. Someone sees a date that is in the past, and suddenly, they make a big deal out of it! We have eyes and a nose for a reason! Meat will let you know, by a terrible smell of flesh decay. They wash all fruits and veggies in a vinegar/water solution. Do you clean all your fruits and veggies when you bring them home from the grocery?
Maybe next time, before commenting, do some research. We need to stop judging one another!
      God Bless, and be safe

In Canada some of the large grocery chains have started a diversion from landfill program that allows farmers to apply to stores for a weekly pick up of unsaleable groceries for farm animals. It is becoming really popular.

I lost both my parents to cancer when I was young. Not young..but young to have lost both. Early 20s. I’m absolutely obsessed with dumpster diving! It’s on my bucket list, and that’s just from watching yall. Y’all remind me so much of my parents. Mom was this incredibly funny quick witted blond hippie gal. She made our soaps! Seriously! 😂 Dad was a really hard worker who lived for a bargain and played his steering wheel like a drum with anything from the 70s came on the radio. I’m not saying y’all are old just that your personalities remind me of them. The girls are really really lucky! ❤️

The garlic in those bags will not grow. If you have a dehydrator, zucchini comes out fantastic. You can slice them in planks dehydrate and use them later to make veggie lasagna. You can dehydrate shredded cucumber and use to make taziki sauce later in the year. Potatoes you can slice and soak in lemon water for 30ish minutes, blanch them for 3 minutes and dehydrate for scalloped potatoes later. I make hash brown and Julianne potatoes also this way.

Hello! Just sharing what you can do with the shredded coke slaw mix in a bag. I use it to make homemade kraut . Just get a glass jar and put in layers. Slaw mix and a bit of kosher salt and tamp down and add more shreds. When all tamped down and juice comes up . Add something heavy to hold juice above shredded cabbage. You can set this in your counter and make homemade kraut all year around. Takes a week or more however sour you want it. I cover with dish towel and check to make sure juice is covering kraut every day or so 💕

Frugal Mommy, your tomato and butternut squash look wonderful. Go ahead and pick that tomato now and let if finish ripening inside the house. Please let us know how they tasted.

Amy if by chance those green tomatoes don't turn red one thing I did learn from my grandfather you take them and you put them in a brown paper bag and they'll all be beautiful red tomatoes he would do that every right before the frost would come take every tomato off the plant not waste one tomato and put them all in brown paper bags tomatoes up to November and December

The green peppers turning to red taste THE best!
I also just did my 3 pounds of onions in the crock pot for 10 hours. I added beef broth and made French onion soup. Of course I topped it with provolone. Fed it to hubby - who has covid 😭😭😭😭I hope it kills the 🦠

Perch one of your gnomes on that branch.
Amy, tomatoes ripen from the inside out. When frost threatens, the ones whos green skin has turned shiny can be picked and ripened in the house.

I agree with you. We waste so much food and there are people who would benefit from getting it free. It’s a shame! It sho7ld not be allowed it makes me sad to see all the waste when people are starving and need to feed their hungry children . There is nothing worse than to see a hungry baby or child. God bless you and your wife for what you do. Hugs Betty 🥰🥰🥰🙏🙏🙏🙏💕❤️

Such a cool couple I'm glad your able to save so much money and show how much waste of food is going on Let's face it They throw away sometimes before the expire date They could reduce the price instead of throwing it away We have to make up the difference in the store prices because they choose to waist it Glad someone like you appreciates the food we have in this country and you share what you can with others I really do like your videos and paying one less big food bill would make me happy too lol Keep on diving I enjoy it

Frugal Daddy, is pretty funny these days. Great bog haul. Where are you putting all this stuff? That cut up salad would be difficult to eat through before it needs to be turned into compost. The rest, I would be doing exactly what Amy will b er doing, cut up the cauliflower and broccoli, get a huge pot with water. Get it to boil, put the vegetables into it, pull it out once it changes color, drain it and freeze it. Pickles and canning takes a long time. Shredding zucchini for baking and freezing also a great save. Thanks@
