If this is a school band that’s the tightest school horn section I have EVER heard EVER in my entire life. If these are kids they are INSANELY good
@RepentandbelieveinJesusChrist5 okay, will add to my Todo list for when I get home x
Rip to the people who haven’t found this yet
a month ago, this video had like 80k views, so i think people are finding this video faster than you think
This the first time ever that i'm watching this, and definetly won't be the last, just WOW
Those euphoniums and the blending and harmonics of this band are taking my emotions for quite the ride🥺🥺
This feels like an old man rediscovering his child-like wonder during his golden years. Not in a state of longing, but of appreciation.
Close, but wrong. The correct answer is that it feels like an old man rediscovering the body of his wife that he buried in the yard
Doctor: you have 2 minutes and 24 seconds left to live
Me:
Rip, you wouldn’t be able to listen to all of it since you have to search for it first.
@@genesismartinez4127 then the video might buffer, then ya get an ad. Then you die listening to the new $5 footlong tune.
missing band a lot more today :(
My Senior band camp is online lmao so basically canceled since it’s not the same at all.
Scherzo you guys have 10 when we actually had band camp we had 25 days
this makes me miss school, and hearing the band practice while walking down the halls with your friends
This hit me so hard. I moved to a new school which doesn’t have a choir or a band and now a little part of me feels like it has died haha, especially since I participated in both arts.
Kinda dream school you go too? Only band kids in my hall are the weirdos with a fucking tiny guitar or some shit
I come back to this video all the time, it is just so magical. The tones mesh so well and the camera man's position relative to the acoustics of the gymnasium made a truly once in a lifetime audio experience. Go Jersey Surf!
I literally think this is the best version of this song. It's just so perfect, the acoustics, the shity quality recording. It just makes this video ethereal. They never played it this good either, I've watched the same years band play other times. This was just a perfect performance all around.
@@emerald7761my favorite part is the camera person moving the camera when the im assuming teacher? Comes in with their phone 😂
I would love this, it's peaceful and not crazy like some other corps do
I’m not a band kid but I respect those who can play an instrument and so this because this is truly amazing. It fills me with so much emotion that it’s hard to explain but I wanted this to be a thank you for kids who are in band. Don’t be ashamed to be in band because you make football games and pep rally’s fun. You can make something beautiful and you do, don’t forget that.
Its so nice to see people outside of band appreciate music and the talent behind playing an instrument. When talking to new people I will never mention that I'm in the band because 90% of the time i get shit for it. I feel like most people outside of band are not able to appreciate music the way people who have learned to play and read music do. It warms my heart to see someone understanding that is outside of a band program.
does this version of pure imagination exist anywhere besides here? I've heard so many orchestral compositions of this song but never like this. Absolutely immaculate, gives me chills like no other. Surprised i haven't heard this version anywhere but here. Never gets old.
haha Im maybe a lil too late.. But have you perhaps found any versions of this with proper recording?
@@cicholasnageunfortunately not, but a clean recording wouldn’t have the same acoustics as this gym ): so it wouldn’t really have the same UMPH.
It does! This is the Jersey Surf Drum and Bugle Corps age outs playing there Corp song. Just google it, they play it every year. Also come see us! Its my second season and I am so excited to share our show with you
@pauldickson3831 is there somewhere I can find sheet music? I would love to use this for the saxophones I teach for marching band as a balance and intonation excersize for the end of our warm-ups. They would love it
You know how you know this is epic? They woke people up out of their sleep and not one person screamed at them to stfu. Protect these kids at all costs. I hope they’re all doing well, everyone in this video!
@@KingCeryn These are grown adults that travel around the country doing this
@@jason222sharkall 14-21 year olds. even if you don’t consider the 18-21 year olds “kids” like a lot of old folks do, there definitely is a large percentage in groups like this that ARE kids.
This is a tradition many corps do the morning of finals. Horn players aging out will wake up the other member with a rendition of the corps song.
I would’ve definitely been like “I need them to stfu… but it’s just too beautiful to say so 😌”
You get used to waking up and you kinda don’t care after a month or two
1:26 the NOSTALGIA i get from school bands playing like this
I wish we had a worldwide band day where bands come together and play stand tunes, no comps, performance, just some ol fun nostalgic stand tunes and fun with family. Cause we all are family
I can’t wait until people realize this is actually not a school band but a drum corps
this feels like the bus ride home from comp
I love competitions so much, but every once in awhile, I'm so exhausted, that half of me wishes we don't make it into finals, and the other half does. And that's what this video reminds me of.
from the point of view of not only a band kid but also just a music lover and overly emotional person, this is absolute perfection. i literally burst out sobbing at 1:26 every. damn. time.
It feels like walking into a ray of sunshine on hill somewhere far, after something bad was conquered or avoided. The world starts to feel like a good story of wonder you've heard or thought of, that you thought never could exist.
Hats off to the trumpet section - it’s hard to get that bright beautiful ringing tone without blasting full volume, but these folks did it. Same to the soloist - the glissando on a valved instrument takes a lot of practice to do smoothly.
Superb musicianship. I can only imagine how magical that must’ve been to listen to in that gym. 😍😍
As a 2020 graduate one of the things I will miss dearly about highschool will be band, that feeling of playing beautiful music as part of a whole ensemble, going out to competitions, playing at Disney, and the connections made, I'm glad I did it and I really hope band can stay on its feet despite everything.
@@NIHILWR I am, my college however does not offer band and I've chosen to go down a different path in terms of a major. I will forever love band though for its impact in my life.
The trumpet is lethal!!!!!
@@qwingy220 Yep, I was the soloist from 2015-2017! I appreciate the compliment :)
This rendition of Pure Imagination is my absolute favorite. The acoustics in a gym with barely anything in it will always resonate with me having done drum corps. Hearing horns at like 7 or 8 in the morning is absolutely breathtaking.
this arrangement is like top 10 of all time any genre. absolute perfection
Bro these chords....the sound ...the blend..
truly immaculate 😩✨✨
1:00 that trumpet solo is absolutely heavenly
imagine hearing this in person; literally goosebumps.
This video is the perfect video to use to demonstrate the importance of dynamics. They aced the dynamics in this, which is why there is so much feeling and emotion to it. That crescendo at 40 seconds and the 2nd major crescendo starting at 1:15 building up to BIG moment at 1:26 is everything. Those horns blended beautifully. Everyone knew their role and played it perfectly! Well done!
This angle really captured a great sound of the hornline
EDIT: I know I wrote this 2 years ago. BUT it seems a lot of people are coming here from a TicTok video, which is really cool. I'm glad 300 of you that saw this comment and agreed that this angle captures a great sound from Surf's hornline! 😊
They did it better than the real song
@@apothecurio I think its the same arrangement as their 2012 show "Bridgemania!" you can just look up "jersey surf pure imagination" to find more tho

Well this is a much more peaceful wake up than the one we did back in 2009 lol
That opening note is not what I was expecting. So many chills!
the gym give such perfect reverb, which gives you a feeling of like walking into a massive castle and the band is playing to prepare you for the biggest moment of your life.
This the best highschool band I ever heard they sound so clean
We arent a high school this is the Jersey Surf world class drum and bugle corps
Timothy Bright I love looking ant comment with replies and seeing you in it lmao
They’re clean because it’s a Drum Corps, basically professional marching band without woodwinds.
i get chills when they start playing. it just sounds so open and warm
Warm like sitting next to the fire in your chimney with a hot chocolate
This is such an ethereal experience.
I think if I heard this live I would just start crying, like start sobbing. It’s so beautiful
If my childhood innocence had a sound, it would be this. I was born in the 90’s, but grew up on the 70’s/80’s. This makes me feel like my adult self is having a reunion with my child self. Good music really hits you, deeply.
1:26 the part we’re all looking for.
Aaaa but how much better is that part when you listen to 1:19 the tension, dissonance of that chord right before makes it all the better.
having my headphones on with the music on full blast is a great auditory stim for me! i listen to this when im feeling upset because it's gorgeous
@Ryandal Gilmore this is really mean for no reason. If you get this mad over someone saying anything along the lines of 'stimming' maybe you should take a step back and examine the fact that you're really that mad at someone just expressing a form of joy.
Stimming is an act used by autistic people and other neurodivergents to calm themselves down, its not just enjoyment. It doesn't hurt you

That last chord is beautiful!! The euphs rock
Everything about this piece is beautiful and perfect. From the crescendo at the beginning as an intro leading into the low brass solo. Everything is in such harmony. No instrument is fighting for sound because it all just blends so nicely. The location was also a great choice. The acoustics are the cherry on top. Well done

The chromatic lick on 1:04 gets me every time ... SO GOOODD!!!
the atmospheric and reverb tone is truly what makes this, and i am loving every second of its effect. i heart brass.
This is the most beautiful thing to ever come out of a group of people in a band room other than tears of 2nd chair flutes
As a tuba player this hits home to me, missing the sound of my classmates instruments and me playing the tuba, missed those 6:55 am rehearsal and those band concerts 😔

This makes me sad because ive always wanted to join marching band but the school i was at my freshman year didnt have one and now that im going to another school idk if i can even join it because of covid and also my mom thinks marching band is stupid and idk if id be good enough cause ive played clarinet for like 5 years but i never practiced as much as i should and i just feel like i wouldnt be good enough to join but i really want to and stuff like this makes me wanna cry and i wanna be able to experience this type of stuff
Just join. Trust me. Band it’s such an amazing experience. And please practice. It makes you so much better
High school marching band isn't supposed to be "formal" where everybody's perfect. When I was in marching band in high school, there were people in the band who were learning a new instrument at the start of the season. You'll be 100% fine, those bands like to foster teamwork and dedication more than being a good player. Yes, chances are you'll find yourself better at clarinet after the season is up, and you'll be learning to be a better player as the time goes, but it's not mandatory for being in the band. Even if you think you won't practice, you'll definitely still learn, improve, and advance from the work. That's a part of learning to be a better musician. There is no "not good enough", trust me. You're always good enough. Now go out there and toot that reed machine on the marching field. (Safely, of course.)
i promise just after one year you’ll see so much improvement in yourself!! it’s not about raw talent it’s about drive and the strength to keep going and getting better
seeing all these replies really make me feel better about joining marching band and im so excited because even if we dont go in person this year, my school counselor said the only way i can get some certain class is if i switched pe with marching band so my mom had to let me join so i guess im part of the way there and im so excited
