First of all, I love Party. So glad they did not take him the evil rival route.
Secondly, that confession was arrows straight to Phu's heart. They really went "friends can only be friends" and THEN said, "thank you for being there when I needed you." No wonder he instantly called Joe.
And THEN, that final flashback scene. Nan is so happy about living with Phu.
My poor BL heart!

At first I thought Phu was selfish for not opening up to Nan but hearing Nan's view on friends being more than friends I begin to see his reluctance to tell Nan his true feelings
Phu doesn't even know if Nan is gay so that is a big factor in his reluctance in telling Nan the truth about how he feels ...
The moment Party confessed that he fell in love with Nan was really heart-breaking scene. I know he was really brave to tell Nan. It was very difficult for Nan to turn down Party's proposal ,yet Nan was sincere to express what he really he thought of Party as his best friend.
They can even make skincare look like skinship, care looks gentle. Love the duo

I know Nan has the idea of not having a relationship with a friend, because it could end the friendship once the romantic relationship ends, but you can’t tell me he doesn’t love Phu in a romantic way. He treats him so delicately as such a precious thing and he also gets lost in him 7:13 9:05 he also likes to be touched by Phu 7:23 and he looks at him in such a meaningful way 7:39 and I know he has loved him as a friend since forever, but his gaze holds so much 7:50 and he even reacts shyly when Phu tells him, “Do you feel the love?” 7:57 because that’s what he’s feeling. And the way he wants to keep touching Phu, not even letting him continue applying the cream by himself and even sniffing his neck 8:23 and wanting Phu to also smell him 8:27 and I love how Phu takes advantage of the moment Nan started 8:41. This is based on a true story, so they are portraying two characters so stupid in love and oblivious of the other’s love 8:59 🤭 I want to hit them and knock some senses into them. This is the embodiment of slow burn. A satisfying one tbh 👀

Eu pude notar uma coisa.. Aqui no Brasil, a gente considera uma única pessoa como melhor amigo ou amiga. Para mim, se ele falou com o outro que ele era o melhor amigo dele e que ele estava ali quando ele mais precisou, então, ele não considera o Phul como amigo, ainda mais com todos esses sinais que você mostrou em seu comentário. Eu havia percebido também. Então, acredito eu que ambos se amam simultaneamente há muito tempo e o Phul sabe que o que ele sente não é só amizade

Party is an excellent actor. He really conveyed the emotion needed for his confession scene. Phu and Nan are equally gifted actors and we feel the angst of their slow burning confession which should take place sometime soon! This series is a masterpiece in so many senses. I believe Nan has always seen Phu as a partner. His belief about friends to lovers has never applied to Phu but since neither have been able to express themselves properly, it was never clarified. They are both driving me crazy 😤 and they better end up together. 🥰

I agree with you. I think Nan has to be romantically interested in Phu too, but he just never realized it. For example, those times when they accidentally kissed in college, Nan wasn't grossed out by the idea of kissing Phu, it seemed like he'd rather enjoyed it. I think the idea of verbally saying it out loud that he might like his (same sex) best friend is what's throwing him off. He feels things for Phu, but not being able to come to the realization of it yet. Nan has to take the risk of possibly making their friendship fall apart and make a move or else Phu is gonna run from him again 😢

While it does take guts to tell someone you love them, I think Party 1) Felt threatened and felt he had to confess since Phu is back, and 2) He might have loved him for a few years, but it does not include their childhood and listening to your best friend say he would not date a friend.
I do not think disappearing for 10 years was right, but at the same time sometimes once you make a mistake, it is hard to come back to it a few years later.
Party is really in pain 49:24 because he’s being rejected, but I’m glad he told Nan about his feelings and I love the way Nan handled the whole situation. He understood that Party has been there for him, that he’s a real friend he values so much. He was honest, he didn’t sugarcoat it, he was holding him while telling him why they can’t be together, making sure he knows he’s still his best friend after his confession 48:56 telling him that he will always see him in that way, which is not wrong because he has the right to feel like he can’t love a friend in a romantic way 49:43 50:08 and it hurts 49:50 but Nan comforted Party and didn’t let him go 51:35 reassuring him he’s still his best friend 51:47 being appreciative and acknowledging the things he has done for him 52:00. This has been the portrayal of the most beautiful rejection and I’m glad Nan loves Party in such a sincere way 😭

I just can't agree with you more it's series I know we all want our own wishful things or high hopes about any character... But do you really think in real life someone you know already point out that he never going to be in a relation with his friend then do you really think that person going to confess his/her love even after that person know their view about relation... It's big nooo... People can love it can be one side or can be both sides. But if you already know that person don't love you the way you want; now do you still think phu going to tell he loves Nan?? As for party he don't know how Nan view the relationship of course Nan has his own reason.Also party don't have the fear like phu have cause phu already indirectly heart by Nan but party hadn't. So, I think it was that better phu leave.....you just don't know one side love is hurtful also when he saw Nan with others he hurts that's when phu make the decision to leave.....When you know someone you love; but don't love you back.You should leave from that person side to heal you....And this was the best choice ever.

It is clear he did not heal himself. He has not addressed the situation. He is not over Nan. Nan is not clear on what is going on and is constantly getting damaged by Phu's actions.

I must say that this story is being very skillfully dragged out, I hope that there is a happy ending. It seems implausible that two people who love each other so much cannot find a way to reveal it to one another. Proposing and getting rejected is a painful experience. However, Party has an understanding in letting go of what does not belong to him. I have watched many bl movie that rejected proposers create trouble just because their confession wasn't accepted. I am more and more in love with the series “The promise”. The acting of the actors is excellent. I want to highlight the child actor who plays Phupha in childhood, I saw his work in another drama “Dear Doctor I'm Coming for Soul” and he is a promise for the BL industry in the future. But, now talking about our couple “Phupha & Nan”. Nan is faithful people... Even receiving the Party's statement he didn't give in and once again Phupha got it all wrong. I'm curious to know, why did Phupha's mother abandon him when he was still a child? I'm looking forward to the next episode.

The respectful and mindfulness of Park communicating to Phu that he's going to confess his feelings to Nan and accept whatever Nan's decision may be. In addition to him informing Phu that it's better to confess rather than withholding one's feelings inside. That was absolutely a mature adult moment between Park and Phu 😊. The conflicted hearts story and Love between Phu and Nan in "The Promise" is easy to relate to ... which has the audience at large awaiting for an eventual resolution. I Love the clarity and flow of this show 🥰.
