LOVE the commercial!!! :D The box is very groovy, too... She looks a bit like our Natasha, no? :P Very interesting body construction which I haven't seen before!!! A bit weird that she has no visible joints! I wonder why they stopped making this type of body for Barbie? (Though the bending limbs do look quite Gumby-ish! LOL )

Really? I like the standard articulation, 5 points with bendable knees. This rubbery body is hard to dress and doesn't pose realistically. But she is cool, and they should make more like these. ❤️
I think of these types of Barbies they put out then as "Gumby" Barbies. 😉 Still they're a fun thing for collectors because they're so different. I have some that I've found thrifted and have bought them just because they are so different. Really pretty face on this doll and the colors it wears are so complimentary too. Thanks for sharing this unusual doll.
Yes, I have no idea who thought of this and why they thought it was a good idea. I think MTM is a much better idea. Have you seen the not so knock-off knock-offs? They are basically Barbie with different hair colours.
I think I now know what the photographers use when taking photos of the Barbie for posters and merchandise. Back then I was so confused how they are able to make her arms bend and crossed. They probably used this doll line.
Oh, that's a shame. I no longer have her but from memory the hip and waist motion wasn't fantastic as the rubber was quite thick in those areas. But she may have been able to do the splits 🤷🏼♂️ She had a horrible smell though and it made me feel sick so I had to get rid of her.

i literally had to play hid from my dad, i have two sisters so dolls were evrywhere, mostly with the younger one, i remember playing with my sister and her dolls when we were kids, i still have some of the dolls, not in good condition but now ive got my own barbies, new, not vintage but yeah i like them

Yes! I think they did use bodies like this for those books and stuff. I wish they released a doll like this but with the earlier body shape.
