Rotary Ckub of Abakaliki Ogboji Health Project GG2127636

On July 5th, the upgraded Aguotu Health Center was commissioned in Ogboji Ezzagu Community, Ishielu Local Government Area in Ebonyi State, Nigeria. The project was executed by the Rotary Club of Abakaliki with the help of Global Grant from Rotary Foundation. The Rotary Club of Cupertino, California, USA was the leading overseas partner. Locally, the project is partnership between Rotary, the Community, Government and AMURT Foundation, who acted as the implementing agency, lending their experience from 12 years on the front of line of primary healthcare in Ebonyi State. Aguotu Health Center is now open 24 hours every day, with a staff of 15 health workers, resident midwife and visiting doctors, scientists and health educators from AMURT foundation. 20 maternal health promoters organize health outreach programs throughout the villages in the community. A community led management committee oversea the operations. From the start, the health center is set up in line with a development model that will ensure a high level of self-reliance.
