I attended this concert at Krishnaganasaba in 1960.I got it taped from auto parts S Natarajan.Semmangudi;MSG:Vellore Ramabadran.This is an edited version released by Krishnagana Saba in 4 Volumes.I am listening Semmangudi mama’s concert from 1960. This concert alone I heard it more than 500 times from my original tape.Best Keeravani,Salaga Bhairavi;Ragamaliga best of Hamsanandhi etc.Every year on the way to Trivandrum for Navarathiri festival he used to stay with us at SHENCOTTAH for few days. I tried to play this tape for him several times.He will refuse to listen the best of his.It is like taking vomited food.Yet one one of the visits we forced him to listen.Great human being.I am really fortunate to listen his music so long and plenty.Easwaran S
Mama you are right. Semmangudi Mama didn't believe in recordings - even his own masterpieces! This is one of the very best concerts of an epic 8 decade tour de force career. The sloka singing here is the Everest of the genre.

The bale during and wah re wah (55:40) after the violinist Sri. MSG finishes his Kamavardhini returns is so very distinctive of the great man..Thanks for the wonderful treasure Sri. Raju Asokan. Your service in bringing the best of the old masters is commendable. Looking forward to the next set of my favourite Sri. Somu's treasures..
The typically individualistic presentation by the great master ...including Tyagaraja kritis rarely heard. But one expected an opportunity to be given to MSG at least at the stage of the melodious Begada..but greater things were to follow. A superb combination and quality recording. Thanks for the upload of this gem . .
When Mama was in that absolute flow as in this kutcheri, sometimes the accompanists just had to follow the flow even if it sometimes limited them (because they'd always get other openings not normally seen)! Truly a gem of a recording I agree.
