If your starter bolts are as tight as mine were you won't get that top bolt this way. I used a deep impact 14mm and a 20" extension. Then ratchet with a breaker pipe.
LOL, I know what you mean. I had done so many starters and alternators in my life, and when I first looked at this I thought WTH... The good news is that the rest of this car has been solid for its age.
Hey. Are these part numbers the same for a 07 gs350 with a push-to-start? The old number is the same but has -84 at the end. But wanted to see if the new part number will work for my car? Thanks.
Hey, apologies, but I have no idea about that vehicle. I know that a lot of these starters are interchangeable, but you should definitely verify before buying one. Some part numbers supersede as time progresses. I'm more familiar with cross reference sites for Nissan or BMW, however, you might try Rockauto.com and try to pull up a schematic to reference the part number and it should list the newest part number. I buy Lexus parts from there, and it's pretty good. Also, this site may help: nemigaparts.com/cat_spares/cross/lexus/ That is a derivative of realoem.com which I use for referencing things on BMW's. Good luck with it.
I'm not sure if it'll work the same. Typically, AWD models have slightly more clearance in areas, but I cannot say what may be different or extra because I don't have one to experiment with. You may need to disconnect additional shafts or lines, etc. You can just use this as a reference and possibly default to a wheel removal entry method if need be. There are multiple ways to get to the starter. Play it by ear, but be careful you dont stress any parts. To be safe, you might want to try the other methods, it'll just take you a little longer.
You are very well spoken and that helps immensely with the instructional video
Ah, thank you so much! Have an awesome week, cheers 🙂
This is super smart way in TH-cam it helps taking out starter from Lexus GS also
Thanks for the video! My starter just went out today. I ordered it from Rock Auto also. I have a 2010 IS350, 198k miles. Alternator is still original.
Glad it helped! These cars really do well long-term, lol. 🙃 Have a great week!
Holy crap! That engine is spotless
Haha, yea... this car is like new all around, except that sticky dash 🤣

Use a swivel socket for the top bolt. No need to use a long extension.😅
Thanks for the help.
Glad it helped you, have a great week 🙃
I did my alternator and it was simple compared to this wow i hope mine lasts forever

I did my alternator and it was no picnic
@@DaveMartinez-o1s Ugh, that one bottom nut on the bracket attached to the rear of the alternator
thnx this helps
Very helpful going to try doing this to my AWD 🫡
So glad it helped, good luck with it 🙃
Did it work for you?

@@fixitcolton Thank you.
Wow! Just watching this clip for comparison to the ES350. ES350 is way easier, not a sports car like the IS250/350 though.
Haha, yea... you have to wonder what some of these designers were thinking when creating these cars.
Crazy
😄
What about awd models
