    Als a Viennese perseon I have to add that they are really pretty, but really expensive. Nearly 4000 € is the whole income of 2 average people, or maybe one really well earning person.

      Cost is relative. What may be expensive for one person, is perfectly normal for another person. I’m simply sharing MY experience.

      @@TheGlambassador you are able to pay 3.353 euro rent and mean that is perfectly normal for you. then y ask for patreon. So you should be supported financially - sounds a little bit strange.

      Her husband works for the UN which means they get a generous housing allowance so they are pretty much rent free... I live in Vienna and these rents are very high and almost exclusively for diplomats, UN staffers, etc. When locals live in these apartments they have mostly inherited them from their families. So, yes, cost is relative, particularly when your rent and utilities are paid for by your employer.

    • @TheGlambassador
      @TheGlambassador  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@JulianaSantric our rent is absolutely not covered by a stipend, it helps a little bit it doesn’t cover it. And we get no allowance for utilities. Can we please stop making assumptions on people finances? Yes my husband and I both have an income and we don’t have children. I was a business owner for many years and now my content creation IS my job.

    Wow, beauytiful 😊 The apartment you have chosen is incredible. I'm so excited about the "conservatory" like room and the tiled stove! 🤩 Since we could never afford something like that, because I don't even earn what you pay in rent, I'm a little envious 😂 But of course your husband has a very good job, so you can afford it.

    just to mention: you don't find "Victorian" Style in Vienna. Victorian Style is something inherently British and used for houses built in the Vicotiran Era (under the reign of Queen Victoria). In Vienna you would refer to Belle Epoque or turn of the century Details (and in some cases Art Deco - depending on the year of build and the style).

      These are actually French terms that don't quite overlap with the Austrian/German terms. Art Deco is also a bit later. Considering the years the first apartment was built, I would say Jugendstil is the correct term.

    As being Austrian myself I consider it to be crazy how much space Americans need to live in. Everything is gigantomanic, even the tumblers...2 people in over 200m2 and over 3000,-€ per month only rent? You need two toilets, two bathrooms, at least 5 rooms? How Do you heat it? Gas? And an extra room for clothes, guests and office? Thats way off of the lifestyle europeans live in, even people who earn well....

    An appartment not coming with a fully furnished kitchen is a relatively new habit on the real estate market. There was never a legal obligation for landlords to provide kitchen furniture but they did it anyway. It became common over the last ten years or so.

      That’s wonderful that you are moving to Vienna. I think the difficulty with apartments is simply getting a landlord to choose you. I agree, there are many apartments available, but we had difficulty with landlords rejecting our applications. Reasons weren’t given, but I’ve heard many people say that some landlords don’t want to rent to foreigners or non-German speakers. So it sounds like you have an advantage there.

    When I see these apartments and the cost, I see you are bring ripped off. Insane to pay these prices. Buy a house!

      It’s clear you don’t understand much about Vienna for how most large cities work. This is a very short sighted mindset. Buying a house in Vienna comes with either a multi-million dollar price tag or having to go outside the city, where we’d have to then have the added expense of vehicles.
      Neither of which we are willing or able to do. We are incredibly happy with our decision and love our life in our rented apartment. Owning a home isn’t always better and people shouldn’t be shamed for renting instead.

      @@TheGlambassador I know a lot about Vienna & big European cities. Your mortgage would probably be less than your rent. Vienna is not as expensive as some European cities.

    You can always tell American videos : there is an overly-long “back-story”. , excessively-long preamble , and interjections and digressions .
    Very important to be concise and succinct and to avoid being verbose .
