I'm not a Jew, but I went to a HS with lots of Jewish kids in the college prep courses; I attended several parties for the Festival of Lights, and I remember this song. The message extends beyond Judiasm to all who are oppressed for their faith.
Happy Hanukkah! Thank you for singing and posting. This is the only full version of the song I found to sing along with when I light my menorah. It would be super helpful if you could post the lyrics in the description.

I don’t understand an ounce of Hebrew, but it’s a beautiful language and I would love to learn it to be able to speak to my God and Lord (not trying to enforce Christianity onto anyone at all, I love Judaism and my God when he came to Earth was Jewish himself. I think no matter your religious beliefs, as long as you are a good person that is the best you can be)
There's a story about a man who went to collect wood forhis village to keep the all alive through the winter. A blizzard came early. He feared dying in the forest withoout getting the wood safely back, as everyone depe.ded on him to survive winter. He wanted to pray but he was 'simple' and had no learning. "Lord," he prayed,,"I know I should prat in hebrew but I only know a little. I'll say what I can, You in your wisdom know what my prayer is. Alef, bet, gimel, dalet, he,...." The Almighty understood, the snow stopped and the man got back home safely. No matter the language! The Lord understands the thoughts of our hearts.
