UPDATE: I realize I didnt mention scrapping CPUs and other tech. This method, while effective, isnt really plausible for the average person. If youre capable then by all means, picking up broken computers or solar panels can definitely be worth it to pull out gold, silver, and other precious metals from these materials.
Please find out if your CPU's Work and what they are going for on some sites before you Scrap them for Gold . We really need to keep a lot of that stuff around for Little Johnny's Computer Refurb in 2039 and this is Important No-one Makes Vintage CPU's so they can be Worth Way More than the Gold .
I slid my arm under the counter at the local corner grocery. I took home three Morgans. My mother wouldn’t believe my story and took them. That was 64 years ago, lol. I few months ago I found 2 silver dimes in the coinstar slot. It’s a real tip.
Everyone needs to learn these lessons garage sales, auctions, 2nd hand stores do it for me. It's sad how often people don't know what they have. As long I pay what people want if it works for me and don't lie when asked a question I can sleep well at night.
I made a silver haul twice in the early 70s. Helped remove the machines from a couple of old laundromats and was allowed to pocket the change lost under the machines. A lot of it was silver.

#6 : Cleaning out junk cars before they go to the wrecking yard. I help out at a tow yard that is part of a storage yard that I work at. I get to go through the junk cars before they go to the wrecking yard and I have found silver coins including two ASEs ,half dollar coins, quarters, dimes and silver war nickels. I have also found Indian Head cents, wheat cents, Liberty Head nickels and Buffalo nickels. A lot of people leave behind their coin collections in their old cars. The best vehicles are when somebody was living in the vehicle before it got impounded. Old Chevrolet Suburban trucks and cargo vans and SUVs are the usual good hunting grounds.
i have a train track in my back yard i have wanted to walk it with a decent metal detector since I moved here 9 years ago. no one goes back there. things even scrap metal which can pull in good money but who knows what falls off and has over hundreds of years.
I collect Metal detectors , I have not even looked at my own yard yet . and I'm in a 1903 Duplex . Hey Thank you for stating the EU Hallmarks , You should do an Update to this Video with the Various Hallmarks that give more Information than the Silver or Gold Content , You know like the Lion , the Crown , the Sword , 3 Leaves , 2 Castles etc , Great Video , Liked and Shared :) QC
I found a cake spatula that had ARG 1000 stamped on the back of the handle. If its pure silver, its wonderful! Where I'm at solid silver is $28 to $32 an ounce. NICE ! Rainy day money if you can find someone to buy it at the precious metal spot rate.
I have found silver and gold in costume jewelry bags. You want the birds nest of chains, ear rings cuff links, you will always find something, people get frustrated untangling the mess. And I have never not found something metal detecting. I made my first metal detector when 9 over 30 years ago. And I have lost count of coinage, I do have a count of 364 rings I've chalked up... Here's a good pointer on the metal detecting the lot of people don't know about. In rural areas, the mail was delivered in One direction so mailboxes were all located on one side of the road Locate where the pull-off was for the mail vehicle and locate where the mailbox was, because a lot of times they would put money in the box to pay for the postage... Good luck, thank you
If there was a complete shtf scenario, silver wouldn't be worth what food would be but anything less than complete chaos, precious metals could be the difference. Especially if theres another depression level event
Can you imagine, you work at the bank and some brats bring in 50 dollars face value of silver quarters and ask for a 50 bill, and youre not allowed to swap it? Can you imagine?
Just a heads up don’t pass on gf gold filled it is not the same as plated. Gold filled actually has a scrap weight price per gram. Something marked 1/20th 14k is actually 5 percent 14k gold by weight so if you had a big piece that was say a wide bangle or heavy chain and it weighed 20 grams you would actually have a gram of 14k gold by weight. If you see 1/10 or 1/5 those are ten percent gold by weight and 20 percent gold by weight respectively. It is a niche and you need to research beyond my over simplified explanation but I have found gold filled before and am usually happy when I do because it is a pretty cheap way to pick up a bit of gold.
If its from the royal UK mint then they probably arent as they stopped minting most of their silver in the 20s. The Canadian and Australian mints kept going till the 60s. I believe they arent as they would be on my cheat sheet next to my safe as thats where i do most of my coin roll hunting
@@PalmettoPrepared I didn't think so, didn't have that sound, wanted to check though. It does have a ship on the back so this pirate will keep them. Lol Thank you brother
Hey, I have a spoon, which I'm pretty sure is silver, but the only markings are "726Gr" and a little empty square. I also have a necklace, which I bought in Morocco; I was told it's silver but it doesn't have any markings. Is there a way to find out what these are? Thanks for the video.
@@DigginDave i am speaking from experience. I have been looking for silver coins from the banks around my city and for the last few years pretty much zilch. So I say again, very low. Your town must be brimming with silver coins I guess.
@@ogpk3 i have found one silver quarter, one mercury dime and 2 Buffalo Indian head nickel. I wantvto collect silver but I don't want to loose money. I buy for over spot then if I sell no one wants to pay over spot. So I loose about 5 to 10 dollars an ounce. I saw some junk silver quarters on ebay. 4 quarters for 28dollars. I was not even getting an ounce but paying way over an ounce price.
I've found silver twice in my life in the wild and I'm 40..once at a car wash and once at a store in a rural small town lady dropped the quarter and knew immediately she screwed up..ha!
Thank you for the video. I believe information is more valuable than gold. I like your approach very clear and we'll spoken. The info given is on point also. A couple points I hadn't heard before. Thank you for taking the time to inform the Abel. Lastly thank you for your service in our countries military. Seen in the background.
My credit Union doesn't charge me anything. Before you do anything with silver or gold "wear" check out all markings. The wear could be more valuable because who made it or for whom they were made for. Get a coin operated business. I had small arcade & game rental business with a friend back in the 90s- we ran a magnet over the coins before we deposited them. remember to keep your eyes open my boy found a 37 quarter on the ground just few years ago if it had been in better shape it would have been worth more than the silver.
Canadian coins pre 1968 are excellent ones that you can still find as are Mexican silver pesos. Here is a cheat sheet I use to tell. www.cointalk.com/threads/a-guide-to-foreign-silver-coins.207779/
Yes, there are many. Australian pre-decimal (1966) coins contained various percentages of silver. New Guinea coins were silver. Those are two I am familiar with.

I live near Lake Erie and plan to start metal detecting on the beaches once the weather warms up.
I can imagine you'll find tons of jewelry from all the vacationers

Good luck. Train tracks are very difficult to hunt as the amount of iron makes the machine go nuts
My oldest brother actually does the Goodwill hunts and found 17 sterling silver pieces of silverware for $1/apiece so I know this is a viable option
Especially European silver that uses symbols instead of the word "sterling"

Another Epic video, things I havent thought about. That would be very useful to be able to find silver during SHTF, you'd be a rich man!

Palmetto Prepared I would say - SHTF
Note to my future self: 5:28 is start of "thrift shops, flea markets, estate sales, yard sales" (looking for silver and gold stamps on items)

You can buy a silver chemical test kit. It will tell you if its real silver and what grade of silver it is.
There's about two-thirds of an ounce of silver in a solar panel....

That's dumb. Here you can do it but you gotta stay far away from the dunes. You wanna be in the water anyway as that's where most rings come off
